Whether you’re traveling for the holidays or dreaming of a post-holiday getaway, I’ve got some beautiful sweaters you may want to pack for your trip. I chose these specific sweaters from Nordstrom because they’re cheerful, cozy and available at great prices. And I’ve paired each of these winter pullovers with fun boots and some versatile black jeans.

Ivory Sweater and Ivory Boots bookending black jeans
high waist slim ankle straight leg jeans (wearing size 30, TTS) (more economical option) // ivory cloud v-neck sweater (TTS) // ivory crinkled patent bootie // faux leather classic tote (similar option) // similar necklace // earrings

First I paired this oh so soft ivory cloud v-neck sweater with my black high waist slim ankle straight leg jeans (more economical option). I bookended the black and white look with my ivory crinkled patent booties from Paul Green, but these Caslon water resistant Chelsea booties or these Open Edit lug sole Chelsea booties, both available in ivory, would accomplish the same look.

Jeans and Ivory Booties

I added simple jewelry, wearing my Kendra Scott Elisa necklace (similar) and Veronica hoops. When I travel I keep my jewelry very simple and try to select only a few pieces that will work well with multiple outfits.

Ivory V-Neck Sweater

I’m wearing my usual medium in this ivory cloud v-neck sweater, but I might could have sized down. But since I generally wear at least a tank and sometimes a tee under my sweaters, I appreciate the generous fit. This v-neck sweater comes in charcoal heather, chili red and a pretty blue, too. And it’s on so soft.

If you’d like a little more color in your getaway sweaters, you’ll love this striped mock neck sweater. The website calls it blue-pink stripe, but the stripes look more like greys, ivory and deep pink to me.

Striped Sweater
high waist slim ankle straight leg jeans (wearing size 30, TTS) // striped mock neck sweater // Moonlight Comfort layering long sleeve t-shirt // grey granite water resistant lace-up booties // faux leather classic tote (similar option) // similar necklace // earrings

The mock neck sweater actually comes in one other striped combination and several nice solids. It runs true to size. I’m comfortably wearing my grey Moonlight Comfort layering long sleeve t-shirt under this mock neck sweater for added warmth. The sweater has a lot of stretch in it so the t-shirt fits very comfortably underneath.

Layering Tee
Moonlight Comfort layering long sleeve t-shirt // mock neck sweater

I frequently wear these Moonlight Comfort layering long sleeve t-shirts under my sweaters. They are nice and thin, but, because they fit close to the body, they really help keep me warm. They have lots of stretch and fit true to size. I have one in each color: black, white and grey.

For this look I played off the grey stripes in the sweater and chose my grey granite water resistant lace-up booties. Plus, it’s such a great idea to wear or pack water resistant boots for a winter getaway.

Booties
Caslon grey granite water resistant lace-up booties

My Caslon grey granite water resistant lace-up booties fit true to size and very comfortably right out of the box.

Next up, a beautiful, soft blue button up sweater. This cotton blend cardigan is slightly cropped, but works wonderfully with my high rise jeans.

Blue Sweater
cotton blend cardigan // high waist slim ankle straight leg jeans (wearing size 30, TTS) // ivory crinkled patent bootie // faux leather classic tote (similar option) // necklace no longer available // Moonlight Comfort Layer Tank

I love wearing a cardigan like this as a pullover. Because I wear a Moonlight Comfort Layer Tank underneath, I feel safe and sufficiently modest in this choice. I do size up in the Moonlight Comfort Layer Tanks.

Button Up Sweater

I absolutely love this winter blue, but the cotton blend cardigan also comes in a great brown and vibrant red (in limited sizes). Again, this great Nordstrom brand sweater fits true to size.

Of course, in my estimation a sweater collection wouldn’t be complete without at least one cashmere option.

Pink Cashmere turtleneck
soft pink cashmere turtleneck // high waist slim ankle straight leg jeans (wearing size 30, TTS) // Fina wedge sneaker // faux leather classic tote (similar option) // split hoop earrings // necklace

This soft pink cashmere turtleneck is lightweight, but still provides warmth. But I’ve opted to add a Moonlight Comfort Layer Tank underneath again.

Pink Sweater

Since I wore my soft pink cashmere turtleneck untucked I chose black shoes to elongate my legs and balance the proportions. I wore the Linea Paolo Fina wedge sneakers. Some say these wedge sneakers are no longer trending, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop wearing them if you have them in your closet or if you like them. And I do…both! I think these wedge sneakers are such a great athleisure footwear option for the winter because they cover the ankles a little and add a bit of a heel.

Wedge Sneakers

And aren’t these Linea Paolo Fina wedge sneakers just so smart looking? They’re also available in a great ivory (in limited sizes). They run true to size and feel so comfortable. I love the Fina wedge sneakers with these jeans, but they also work so well with joggers.

My final Nordstrom brand sweater recommendation for your upcoming winter getaway is a polyester blend, and it is amazingly soft and yummy feeling. This raglan sleeve crewneck comes in a couple of other stripe variations and a number of nice solid colors.

Striped Cotton Blend Sweater

I like the longer, straight, relaxed fit of this pink multi stripe crewneck sweater. It fits true to size and has ample stretch in it.

Cozy Crewneck Sweater

Aren’t those some fun options for your winter getaway? Whether you’re hitting the slopes, visiting family or exploring some new terrain, any of these pretty sweaters would help make your vacation feel special.

Don’t forget, you always get free shipping and free and easy returns with Nordstrom. And if you enroll in their Nordy Club, you can accumulate points toward Nordy Notes with each purchase. I love the quality and reasonable prices of their Nordstrom lines.

Blessed for My Day

Do you ever feel lonely? Sure, we all do. Loneliness is that common human condition of feeling a little detached from others, hungry for companionship and anxious for a little conversation. It’s normal to feel a little lonely every now and again. And it may be that at this time of year your loneliness is compounded as you remember years when more laughter and joy filled your home or you look across the table at an empty chair.

But don’t confuse this emotion – which naturally comes and goes – with the state of being alone. You are not alone. If you have a relationship with God through His Son Jesus, you are assured that you will never be without the constant and abiding companionship of your God. He is with you in the quiet places as well as the over-crowded ones. He never loses track of you and He hears every word you…think or feel or speak. Today let’s rejoice in the constant presence of God in our lives. Emmanuel, God with us. And as we remember that we are not alone, I’m confident that any loneliness will also soften and fade, too.

Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you. ~ Psalm 139:7-12

  1. I have a cat so I’m always rising on the wings of the dawn. I like the striped sweater a lot. I like the look at the neck. Some crew necks feel like they choke you but this has a little scoop look. I have an ivory sweater I’ll wear for Christmas with gold threads. I love the ivory boots. I’ll probably look at the cheaper pair though. Great looks.

  2. Very nice sweater collection! I happen to like the light blue cardigan you’re showing. I’d need to try it on however to be sure that the hem hits at a becoming place. Thank you for sharing!

  3. Love all these sweaters!

Different looks for all different occasions, dress up or down.

My favorite, of corse is the Pink💗

    Blessings,

  4. I was happy to see that many of these sweaters are wool free. I have a daughter who is allergic to wool, so these would make great gifts for her. Thanks as always for your ideas.

  5. I really enjoyed seeing how these sweaters look on you. The models are sooo skinny and it is hard to gage how tops would look on a person with more shape. They are so pretty on you. I like the pink multi stripe one and the white v-neck.
I also appreciate the scripture you shared today. I was just visiting with two friends from our Bible study yesterday. We were reminded that our lives should follow the “train model” The first car guides the train=FAITH. The second car follows but is important =FACT. And the third car that follows the rest–the caboose (real, but needs it’s place in the line-up)=FEELINGS. Not to belittle our feelings–they are a part of us–but we should be guided by our Faith in the Lord first. He is always with us and wants to be our guide through our daily life.
This “Train model” is really helpful to me. 1-FAITH, 2-FACT, 3-FEELINGS.
You all have a Merry Christmas!

  6. These are all really pretty, especially the v-neck! I might have to treat myself to that.

Your black jeans are also great looking. If you have already covered this in a post that I missed, I will apologize in advance for asking this question, but what are the primary features that make a pair of high-end jeans worth the investment?

  7. Nice sweaters but don’t need anymore sweaters right now, unless something is so pretty to me I cannot resist. I have so many sweaters in my wardrobe. I love the light blue cardigan and pink turtleneck but the shades are a little light for my winter season palette that I am. I usually look better in the dark shades and do not need another red or black one, pretty on you though.
Really enjoyed the BFMD. I really liked the 3 train model that Jane mentioned. So cute and right on.

  8. I wouldn’t have tried white boots before but they looked so cute on you. I have an ivory cable knit sweater from the Gap that I just knew would go perfectly with blue jeans and white boots so I bought the Caslon Chelsea boots in ivory and you’re right – they are so comfortable right out of the box. I feel so modern and a little bit edgy wearing them. Thanks for the inspiration.

  9. I adore cozy sweaters and own many. The multi-color is one that I will consider since my collection is mainly solids. Sweaters are a must in Michigan winters if you don’t like the cold and bundle up as much as I do to go out. Camis are a must-have in my opinion.
As you mentioned….your scripture is well-timed for a lot of us and gives strength in knowing we a never alone. Scripture has never failed for me. Our Lord takes care of us in so many ways!
Your early-bird follower Eve gave me a great idea. I love cats and can use the extra incentive to wake up earlier on cold winter mornings. They want breakfast and playtime…can’t say no to that! Win-win.

  10. What a beautiful and encouraging BFMD! Kay, I am praying that your parents have a very safe drive back to GA. All of the sweaters in this post are beautiful. If I needed to add a sweater to my closet, I would purchase one of these.

  11. Hi Kay. I loved your post today. This is actually my favorite type of post you do when you show several ways to wear the same pair of pants or the same top. I have been looking for a pair of black jeans and in fact did check Nordstrom‘s but this pair was not available at the time. They must’ve restocked so I was lucky to grab a pair today. They are pricey but I feel that I will get a lot of use out of them.
I also enjoyed your BFMD post. That is something I need to be reminded of.

      1. Luv the sweater choices- going to Houston next week so will have one day to shop! This according to my daughter! So may be able to check out some of your picks! Thanks for your advice- I posted a pic of my winter white boots with a cream coloured sweater- bookended as per your suggestion!

  12. Congratulations on your lovely daughter’s engagement.
    Love all the sweater choices.
Especially love your Blessed for my Day inspirational words.
You have such a gift and I always look forward to the end of
your posts to read your spiritual comments and psalms.
