7 Ways to Wear Jeans this Winter (1)

Thanks so much for stopping in. First up, let’s watch today’s video. Then I’ll share with you pinnable and shoppable graphics of each of the outfits I feature in today’s video.

If for any reason the video player doesn’t load here, you can click through and watch today’s video on YouTube here.

Pin and Shop the Looks

First up, here’s what I wore in today’s video.

What I'm Wearing
Shimmer Sweater (size medium) // large pave hoop earrings

I’m not sure if you can tell here or in the video, but this pretty classic acorn colored Shimmer Sweater features little shimmery gold specks throughout. With it’s puffed sleeves and shimmer, it’s a perfect holiday sweater you can wear all winter long. I’m wearing a medium and it’s a little roomy. The Shimmer Sweater is also available in winter white.

I’m also wearing these dazzling large pave hoop earrings. I think they’re the perfect accompaniment for this pretty sweater. But they’ll look beautiful with just about anything during the holidays.

I couldn’t link my boots in the shopping widget below. You’ll find them here. I absolutely love my Thursday Boots. The boots linked in the shopping widget below are faux leather boots at Target. I bought those last year and they served me well, too.

Outfit #3 – Jeans & Turtleneck

I messed up a little here! Ha! So I ended up showing two different looks.

By the way, you’ll be seeing another rendition of this style formula in my post tomorrow. I like it even better!

Outfit #6 – Blouse & Cardigan

I know the photo above looks like I’m wearing black jeans, but these are, in fact, very dark wash blue jeans. Remember, my blouse is no longer available, but I’m linking to several equally pretty options.

Blessed for My Day

I love the image the Bible paints for us of Jesus caring for us the way a good shepherd cares for his sheep. Of course, the comparison of us to sheep is a little humbling. Hahaha! But the longer I live the more I realize that we are indeed prone wander, vulnerable to attack and in need of someone to watch over us.

I’m grateful that Jesus is a compassionate and good shepherd. He knows each of us by name and is mindful of our mannerisms and tendencies. He is patient and diligent, tender and strong, protective and a good provider. Today let’s listen well for His voice above the others that would lead us astray. Let’s follow close so we don’t stray mindlessly into danger. And let’s be grateful that He comes searching for us if we do.

“Truly, truly I say to you, the one who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber. But the one who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep listen to his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he puts all his own sheep outside, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. However, a stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.” ~ John 10:1-5

  1. I am feeling your pain today! We had a fun filled thanksgiving weekend planned with our kids and grandkids and everything changed yesterday. Our youngest son is waiting for COVID results and one of our grands is quarantined due to exposure. There are 19 of us in the family with 7 grands in school. One of our sons is a physician and he called last night and said that it’s looking like a zoom Thanksgiving this year. Breaks my heart because it’s everyones year to go to the in-laws for Christmas. That means it’s just me and my hubby for both the holidays.
PS : we live in South Dakota!

    1. I’m so sorry, Beverly. I’ve been wrestling with this all morning. I was dealing with it okay when my son called yesterday and into the evening because I was staying busy. But this morning everything feels very bleak. Bleh. Oh well, I guess we’ll keep drawing close to Jesus and pressing on. He will fortify us. 💕

      1. Beautiful outfits, Kay!
The greatest comfort I have is knowing that God knows and that He cares! I am sorry that you will not be able to share a birthday and Thanksgiving with your loved ones. It is going to be different for us as well this year.
Thank you for the continued encouragement via BFMD and the beautiful clothing styles.
God bless you and your family,
        Suzanne

  2. I share your pain. My husband and I will be celebrating both holidays without the kids and grandkids. My daughter and grandkids live too far away to drive and flying is still just too risky right now. And my son has had a mild case of COVID but the jury is still out on whether that makes him immune. And he continues to frequent his local favorite hangout where he feels he contracted it in the first place. I’m definitely down in the dumps. But as I heard a doctor say it’s like playing Russian roulette. My husband’s birthday is 2 days after Thanksgiving and our anniversary is 2 days before but I don’t feel like celebrating anything. Thanks for your efforts in giving us a place to look forward to connecting every day. We just feel so isolated these days.

    1. Oh my. Yes, it is so hard. I want to see my parents, too. And right now that is just out. I guess my family needs to consider getting together on Zoom or FaceTime. Maybe we can make that special.

  3. Hello Kay,
I understand how you are feeling. We also, will not be spending the holidays with all our family. While it makes me sad, I truly understand the precautions we all have to do to be safe and healthy. I thank the LORD he is in control and gives us his peace. thank you for sharing the Bible verses, I look forward to the encouragement.
    I live in North Carolina

    1. Thanks so much for your encouragement Teresa. It sounds like a lot of us are in the same boat. Well of course we are. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But I’m grateful that when one is down the other can pull us up. Bless you.

  4. Dear Kay,

I understand about you missing your family. I’m so sorry to read that you will miss your son’s birthday also! My husband and I have not had children, so we are always alone. So take joy in the day for many things ‘anyway’. God has a plan all about this world pandemic! We don’t see it yet. But it’s there. As the old saying goes ‘take joy in the morning!’

The outfit options are awesome! I have so many items in my closet already. And I love jewelry! It’s nice to wear pretty earring hoops with my mask! Or my dangle ones or studs. I have stopped wearing makeup with my mask. So this is one thing I’m ‘looking forward to’ when we have no pandemic. To wear n my wear makeup again and lipstick!

I haven’t thought about an all denim look in some time. That shirt is appealing for these days. And I have several throws to wear over jeans and trousers before it gets too frigid here in Colorado! These are great for walking around the neighborhood these days.

I do enjoy your blog and your videos! And yes, it’s great to get ‘dressed for the day’.

Prayers for you and your family. And our world to heal from this pandemic.

    1. Thanks so much for sharing, Pat. Indeed as I was just out walking I was considering the irony of the fact that year 2020 has been so void of clarity. Ha! But we do know that God sees and knows and holds all together. What isn’t clear to us is crystal clear to Him. 💕

  5. Thanks, Kay! Have been enjoying your posts and videos and BFMD. Blessings to you and your family. These are challenging times, indeed, and trying to decide which risks to accept or to avoid and the various considerations are heart wrenching.

  6. Hi Kay,

I’m sorry about your son and his wife not being able to join you for Thanksgiving. It will also just be the 2 of us as well.

We’re hoping to connect via Zoom and FaceTime for the holidays with our daughter and family members.

Your blog and Facebook group is so much more than sharing about fashion.

I think of you as a friend and mentor.
Your encouragement, kindness and warmth is making a huge difference in my life and I’m sure in the lives of so many other women.

I feel a sense of belonging, hopefulness and support, since finding your blog and group. I thank the Lord for you and the work you are doing.

May God bless richly as you bless others.

    Beth

    1. Thank you so much, Beth. That is so very encouraging. I wish I could spend more time in the Facebook group myself but I do check in most everyday and it looks like you ladies are having a great time and are so very supportive of one another. I’m thankful. I was thinking just this morning on my walk how I want to do more than just share outfits – although I do LOVE doing that! My biggest goal is to help women in their 50s and up to keep their confidence high or to regain it if they’ve lost it. And I don’t mean some kind of self-love confidence. I simply want women to feel equipped to stay engaged and feel relevant. Our families and those younger than us need us, and I don’t want women to feel sidelined. Anyhow, I’m rambling! Thanks for the encouragement! 🥰

      1. I will pray along with you to that end. He is definitely using you to bless and encourage me!

        Thank you so much,

        Beth 🙏🏻💕

  7. Ditto with so many! My husband and I will be celebrating without kids or grandkids. However, I am going to prepare Thanksgiving dinner and my kids and grandkids live close enough to come and pick up “to-go” plates!

    1. Oh what a wonderful idea. Your kids and grands are definitely blessed. Thanks so much for sharing, Judy. I hope you have a lovely day of it! 🍁

  8. Kay, thank you for your inspiration- on so many levels!! # Covid19 Thanksgiving dinner- just the 2 of us! This sure is a time we have to be thankful for our faith. Christmas gatherings may also be put on the back burner. As we prepare for the birth of Baby Jesus let’s pray for Joy and health in the world.

  9. I’m in the same boat. Hubby and I will be alone this year and I have to be honest, I’m feeling a little down. All my children are traveling elsewhere this year. That’s how it goes, I suppose. I’m still fixing a nice dinner, but it won’t be a huge meal: ham/chicken, sweet potato casserole, green beans, rolls and pumpkin pie. I’m going to make the pie Wednesday and I might dive into making my own rolls! My mothers hot cranberry tea will make an appearance as well. It will be nice, just different. Happy Thanksgiving to you
