Hi there, and welcome to Dressed for My Day. I ventured into J.Jill recently in search of a neutral colored sweater to add to my fall wardrobe essentials (and found one!). But while I was there I tried on a few other things, too. So, while I didn’t take these photos to be a try-on session to share here on the blog, I’ve decided to post them today.
Now, because I hadn’t really meant for this to materialize into a post, I don’t have a lot of shots to share. But J.Jill is currently offering 30% off their full price pants. So I wanted to go ahead and share what I have. I’d suggest checking out their new line. It looks to me to be an early fall line. I love the cranberry reds, the sage greens and the soft blues. So much to love!
Carmen Silk Blend Sweater & Authentic Fit Slim Leg Jeans
Carmen Silk Blend Sweater in silk mink heather // I opted for the other sweater I’ll show you shortly, but it was really a toss-up with this one. I love the lightweight, silky blend of this fabric. The only reason I think I went with the other was because it was 100% cotton, which is what I was stubbornly looking for.
I’m wearing a size medium in this one. I usually wear smalls in J.Jill tops and dresses, but this one just looked smaller to me.
Authentic Fit Slim Leg Jeans in light caraway // I do love J.Jill’s Authentic Fit Slim Leg Jeans. Most of their pants don’t fit me right. If they fit in the waist, they’re too big in the hips. But these jeans have a nice amount of stretch and are made from a very soft 54% cotton, 28% rayon, 9% polyester, 7% cupro rayon and 2% spandex blend.
Remember, all J.Jill full-price pants are 30% off today. That deal ends today. Now, it could be that they’ll knock everything down 30-40% this Labor Day Weekend. But I don’t have that intel.
Authentic Fit Slim Leg Jeans & Cotton-Stretch A-Line tunic
By the way, the Authentic Fit Slim Leg Jeans are also available in a few other pretty neutrals and traditional denim shades. I’m wearing my TTS 8 and they fit nicely.
Cotton-Stretch A-Line tunic // This tunic has such nice stretch in it. The fabric is a rich 61% cotton, 34% polyester and 5% spandex woven, so it has nice heft and a silky soft feel. It’s also available in a black and white stripe. I’m wearing a medium in this one, too. If I remember correctly, the shirt felt a little large (I’d pulled it together a little in the back for the photo) but I figured the sleeves would have been snug in the small.
Rib-Trimmed Boat-Neck Pullover & Authentic Fit Slim Leg Jeans
Rib-Trimmed Boat-Neck Pullover // This pullover is not quite tunic length, but it is a longer sweater. I tend to like this length better than tunics because I feel like tunics really throw off my proportions. This length provides coverage over my hips, but doesn’t leave my legs looking so short. Anyhow, I really like that this Rib-Trimmed Boat-Neck Pullover is 100% cotton. So it’s very soft and breathable. It’s a nice weight for transitioning between seasons.
The Rib-Trimmed Boat-Neck Pullover is also available in a beautiful cherry wine and sapphire blue. Hmmm. I guess I was really focused on looking for a neutral that day, because I’m wondering why I didn’t try those colors! See. That’s the power of a wish list! Oh, I’m wearing a size small in this one.
Smoothing Ponte Leggings & two-tone sweater tunic
Smoothing Ponte Leggings in dark grey heather/dark charcoal heather // I’ve long loved J.Jill’s leggings. I think they’re such a nice weight and thickness. No need to worry about seeing through them at all. I wear a size medium in them.
These Smoothing Ponte Leggings come in black and navy, but I’m wearing the beehive plaid in dark grey heather/dark charcoal heather. I just thought those were interesting, so I tried them. By the way, if you’re not familiar, I’m 5’8″, and you can see that these in the regular length are plenty long for me. The Smoothing Ponte Leggings are included in the 30% off full-price pants.
Tiered 3/4-Sleeve Maxi Dress
I almost didn’t share this dress simply because I don’t think the photo does it justice. Yes, it just hangs and it’s not a slimming dress. But it has a lovely drape and is so very appropriate for fall.
Tiered 3/4-Sleeve Maxi Dress in navy blue tossed calico // I’m wearing a small in this 100% rayon dress. It’s partially lined, so you don’t need to wear a slip unless you just want to. I think it’s lovely for elevated casual. I like it even better with a denim jacket over it. In fact, you’ll be seeing this dress again!
I really had wanted to try on this cherry red printed maxi dress, but they didn’t have it in the store. In fact, J.Jill has a number of beautiful new items. Unfortunately they must have not yet loaded photos with the affiliate service, because I couldn’t create shopping widgets with the new items. I had hoped to update my J.Jill Favorites page, but that will have to wait.
Meanwhile you can check out the rest of their new collection here.

Blessed for My Day
As with Peter, Jesus saw much in Nathanael and for him. He promised Nathanael that if he followed Him, he would see things he couldn’t yet imagine. I can tell you that the same has been true for me. When I was 22 years old God called me into full-time ministry and I went to seminary. It was a hard decision and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. But I have seen and experienced things I never could have imagined at the time.
If you have followed Christ for any length of time, I bet you could say the same. Maybe you, like me, have seen prayers answered, addicts healed, marriages restored, prodigals return, hearts mend and losses redeemed. Following Jesus is not always easy. And sometimes it does indeed require sacrifice. But He certainly does amaze those who keep their eyes on Him.
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!” Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” Jesus answered him, “Because I said to you, ‘I saw you under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these.” And he said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” ~ John 1:47-51
I have to chuckle. JJill is the one store where I can always find pants to fit. Usually by the time they fit my tummy they are too big in the hips and thighs, but I have several pair of authentic fit pants . And I just bought a pair of their boyfriend jeans yesterday and found a couple of other styles that fit great. I am just the opposite of you since I can’t wear Talbots pants.
Have a great trip!
Save travels down to GA! It’s going to be hot through Saturday, with no rain in the forecast. Does your pup travel with y’all? I like the color of the authentic fit pants you tried on. I look forward to seeing what went home with you. Enjoy the family time!
Hello Kay…..my favorite would be the Boat Neck Sweater!
