Let’s Celebrate Fall, Y’all!

Happy weekend! Today I’m introducing (a little late!) our October Dressed for My Day Challenge. So many of you participated and seemed to enjoy the September Challenge, so I’ve decided we’ll definitely continue on with them for at least a full year. Are you in? I hope so! Let’s celebrate fall, y’all!

Lets Celebrate Fall Y'all

The October Dressed for My Day Challenge Theme

Let’s face it, 2020 has been a challenging year, at best. And one of the greatest losses we’ve experienced, besides the lives of many who have succumbed to the illness, of course, is the missing out on celebrations. So, while everything has not yet returned to normal, I think it’s important that we do the best we can to celebrate the sweetness of life.

I don’t know what fall is looking like in your neck of the woods, but here in Ohio, God, in His mercy, has seen fit to bless us with a beautiful autumn so far. Come to think of it, He also blessed us with a beautiful (but late!) spring and a mild and lovely summer, too. But the beautiful colors and cool temperatures and sunny days have made me want to throw my hands up in the air and Celebrate Fall, Y’all!

Let's Celebrate Fall, Y'all!

Like we did last month, we’ll be taking this challenge both individually and as a community. Your level of participation is totally up to you. (Well of course it is. Duh.) I hope you’ll make this challenge work for you. But I’d also love it if you joined our Private Facebook Group (I need to come up with a better name for that!) and shared your journey through the challenge with the community of gracious, beautiful and friendly women who are there. You can join the group here. Be sure to answer the admittance questions or you will not be permitted into the group. My four hostesses and I do everything we can to keep the group safe and wholesome and fun.

Four Challenges

Here is the October challenge broken down into categories: Style, Beauty, Fitness and Inner Beauty. You can participate in any or all. Have fun!

Style: Celebrate with Color

Let’s enjoy incorporating both the colors of autumn and the colors that are trending into our outfits this month. Or wear the colors that make you happy! I’d love it if you post selfies of your outfits in the Private Facebook Group. So many do, and they inspire us all.

Style Celebration

Beauty: Celebrate with Self Care

As we turn our attention toward breast cancer prevention and a cure during the month of October, let’s make sure we’re up to date on our mammograms. But let’s also make sure we’ve gotten all the other health screenings and vaccines we need.

Then let’s turn our attention to more pleasant matters. Maybe it’s time for a spa day, even if it’s at home. Have a manicure, a facial, a bubble bath. You celebrate by taking time for you!

Beauty

Fitness: Celebrate Creation

Our fitness celebration is two-fold. We’re celebrating our bodies by moving them more. And we’re celebrating the beautiful world around us by getting outside and enjoying it more.

Fitness

Inner Beauty: Celebrate Community

Along with missing out on so many celebrations during 2020, we’ve also missed out on much needed time in community. We were created to live in community. While you still may not be able to “do community” the way you once did or would like to, I encourage you to step it up a notch to the best of your ability.

Do something to increase your sense of and enjoyment of community. Whether you host friends for an outdoor gathering or invite women to virtual tea party, reach out and invest a little more in your community.

Inner Beauty

By community I really mean your people. The friends and family you enjoy doing life with. But you could also (if you’re comfortable with it) get out and invest some more in your town or neighborhood. Attend a socially distanced farmer’s market, take a stroll through a neighborhood park or organize an outdoor neighborhood fall decorations tour.

How to Participate

Honestly, you can participate any way you want to. I present this challenge really just as a service to you…and me. It’s meant to just be a little friendly motivation. So you do you.

How to Participate

But again, I invite you to the Private Facebook Group to participate in the midst of a group of women who are friendly, gracious, fun and spirited. We do all we can to make it a safe place.

Hashtags
If you post on Instagram please tag me @dressed_4_my_day and use the above hashtags. If you post in the Private Facebook Group, you can just use the hashtags, but you’re welcome to tag me “Kay Winton Harms” there, too, if you have a question for me.

Wrap of the September Challenge

I don’t have permission to name the winner of the September Challenge here, but we feted her sufficiently in the Private Facebook Group. She posted almost daily (maybe she did post daily!), shared her story as she posted, opened up a little about a personal transformation she experienced recently and encouraged the other women in the group. AND she won a gift card to Talbots!

You could be the winner of the October Challenge! I welcome you aboard. Please let me know if you have any questions.

For More Information…

I neglected to get a video challenge up this month. I’ve got to be sure to record those things when I record my other videos. I’ll be better about this next time.

But if you want more information, I’ve posted a very rough video from my phone on my Dressed for My Day Facebook Page (open to anyone) and in the Private Facebook Group. In the video I share a little more from my heart.

Have a lovely weekend, dear gal. And welcome to the October Dressed for My Day Challenge!

Don’t Miss a Post:

If you like what you’re seeing here at Dressed for My Day, I invite you to subscribe to my email list. You can receive an email each time I post (about 6 times weekly) or just on Saturdays. You choose! But you’ll also receive the password to open up all the subscriber freebies I offer.

Blessed for My Day

And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds… ~ Hebrews 10:24

  1. I think a fun thing to do is get yourself something special that you’ve been putting off. I’ve been eyeing a face roller at soft surroundings. It’s a splurge but I’m just trying to take care of what God gave me:) I’ve never been one for anything extra beside facials. ❤️

  2. Thank you Kay, for these challenges. They encourage me to be mindful of caring for myself and others. I don’t ever do Facebook so I’m not a part of that group, although it sounds excellent.
I cherish each and every post and video you present. I always appreciate your honesty about your own struggles personally and fashion wise.
    Sending blessings your way.

  3. I don’t do Facebook either but enjoy your daily posts, beautiful fashion ideas, and want to thank you for sharing your life and family. Also appreciate BFMD.

  4. Great Challenge this month Kay🍁🍂…..Happy October!

Love that there has been an on slot of people joining the Private FB Page! It’s growing so much…..

    Blessings,

  5. Great thoughts. Down here in New Zealand we are in spring but I plan to use the ideas in your autumn challenges to boost myself thru the rest of the year both to engage with myself and friends.
Love your blog and thoughtful posts.

    1. Hi Kay
Thanks for the tips. I all ready do some of them but I enjoyed taking the style test to see what style I was.
I was a little surprised I am considered a classic. I believe I might be a classic with flair.
I live the quotes from the Bible you do.
I do not do facebook either but sounds like a fun idea!

  6. What an uplifting and fun challenge! I’m not doing FB these days, but will still participate in the October challenge. I love the suggestions and need to work on a few in particular. These challenges are truly fun!

  7. Kay,
Thank you for your wonderful blog. Enjoy your openness and the way you share of yourself.

I don’t use Facebook. Which is considered somewhat odd these days. Especially since my son works for Facebook, but I’m just not comfortable with it. Your Facebook group sounds interesting.

I’m excited about the Fall challenge. I plan to get outdoors more and enjoy the beauty of nature.

    Happy Fall to All.

    Blessings,
    Calie
