Happy Friday! It’s time for a rundown of my daily outfits for the past week. It actually snowed at least several inches Wednesday morning and again in the afternoon, so we’ve had an unusually cold week. Well, at least it’s been unusual for this southern gal. Ha! I’m really hoping it warms up really nice and toasty next week so I can wear more warm-weather clothing. We shall see. Until then, let’s see how I really dressed for my days this past week.
Sizing Information
Just for reference, I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 155. I generally wear a size 8 or medium in dresses, tops, jackets and pants (or 29 or 30 in jeans), so that’s what I’m wearing in these looks unless I tell you otherwise. That way you can assume everything I show you is true to size unless I alert you to sizing up or down. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and, again, I’ll just let you know if I sized up or down in a shoe, otherwise it’s true to size.
How This Works
I want to focus more on styling tips and less on the products. So please assume everything I’m wearing is true to size and fits and feels great unless I tell you otherwise. After all, these are the things I’m choosing to wear in real life.
I’m providing shopping widgets after each outfit, and a lot of what I’m showing you is still available. I’m also trying to include more economical options where that’s appropriate. But if I forget to do that, just ask.
How I Dressed for Friday
Friday morning James and I went to Chick-fil-A to grab breakfast (can you believe this Georgia gal had never had a Chick-fil-A breakfast before???) and then drove out to our new home. It was our first time to see it as the new owners. And we’d only been in it two other times before. So it was fun walking through it with a clean slate. And the former owners left it in such good shape. We feel so blessed.
Anyhow I wanted to be comfortable and casual. It was a little chilly so I wore my walnut colored fatigue barrel pants from Everlane with a simple L.L.Bean tee and a pretty sweatshirt (similar). (I apologize for not having on any lipstick here. Ha!)
Trust me, I would have loved to have worn some sandals with this look, but it was just too cold. So I opted for my Madewell retro trainers. I think they’re fun anyhow. In the photo above I have my shirt untucked just because I wanted you to see the length. It comes in other colors, too. But I actually wore the tee front-tucked, as in the photo below.
I’m pretty sure that by the time I actually left home to go to the new house I had already put the sweatshirt on, not just around my neck. So I’m not sure why I didn’t get a photo of that. But I love the combination of this walnut brown and the dusty pink of the sweatshirt. By the way, Talbots has more of these sweatshirts in their new May collection, which just came out. The watermelon heather is calling my name! Check out the Talbots May New Arrivals here. They’re full price right now, but you can start filling your wish list! I’ll be updating my Talbots Favorites Page today.

On Saturday I just cleaned house all day, so I didn’t take a photo. No one needs to see how I looked that day. It wasn’t one of those days of mild dusting and straightening. I was sweeping and mopping and cleaning bathrooms and working in the basement and such. Nope. Nobody needs to see that.
How I Dressed for Sunday Church & Afternoon
Sunday morning was beautiful if not a little on the cool side still. We served cookies and coffee between services outside. We’re trying to do that at least every other week right now whenever the weather cooperates. We’re all craving the fellowship so much. So I wore my full length white pants, a pretty paisley shell (similar shells in shopping widget) and a blue 3/4 length sleeve cardigan.
This is one of those rare occasions when I actually started out with my shirt tucked, but then decided to leave it untucked, as shown below. I decided that since the sweater was longer, I might as well leave it out, too. I really think either way works well. By the way, my pants are actually in the curvy fit, but they’re almost out of those. And I honestly think I could have worn the regular fit. These are quite roomy on me in my TTS 8. But I do love the thickness and stretch and overall quality of these Newport pants.
I noticed that my suede sandals (which I got for 40% off in last year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale) are almost sold out. But these very similar sandals from BP are an even better price and available in more sizes. They’d make a great versatile heeled sandal for spring and summer.
Sunday afternoon I switched into something a little more comfortable for a nap. But I knew we were heading out the door back to the house afterwards, so I put on something more substantial than my usual Sunday afternoon lounge clothes. It had warmed up enough for short sleeves and sandals, so I put on my black fatigue barrel pants and a Madewell pale blue cotton raglan tee.
These fatigue barrel pants are 96% cotton and 4% linen, and have a nice little amount of stretch. So they feel comfortable, but also a look a little edgy and modern. I’m planning on wearing these a lot this summer. I keep pushing the envelop and wearing them now, but more days than not it’s too cold for these. But soon!
I like how these lightweight Tevas look with this black and blue combination. Again, it’s really a little early for these barely-there sandals, but I’m not good at waiting. Ha. When we left home to head to the new house, I was smart enough to grab my light blue sweatshirt. It worked nicely with this outfit, adding some warmth but leaving the style intact.
How I Really Dressed for Monday
Monday I put my nose to the grindstone with work in my office, but I did have to get out in the early evening so that the realtor could show our rental house to someone. I wore a pretty pink smocked blouse that I got in last week with some old boyfriend jeans. I’ll link to some similar options in the shopping widget below. I don’t know why this photo looks so bad, except maybe I took it late at night.
This day was really about being comfortable but also feeling pretty. And this pink gauzy blouse fit the bill. It comes in other colors, too, but they’re all going fast. Unfortunately my espadrilles are basically sold out as well, but I’m showing other possibilities in the shopping widget.
But you could probably duplicate this feminine but casual vibe with items in your closet. It’s just comfy jeans, a pretty blouse, espadrilles and feminine jewelry.
Tuesday I actually did get dressed presentably, albeit in wide leg joggers and a leopard print tee. But I neglected to take a photo. I always wear something comfortable on Tuesdays. I opt for something I can get out for a walk in during work breaks.
How I Really Dressed for Wednesday
Wednesday I worked from home most of the day and then met my interior designer at the new house in the late afternoon. Did I mention we awoke to several inches of snow that morning? It was the strangest sight, snow on spring blooms and foliage. This is outside my backdoor (of our rental home).
So yeah. It was a cold day. But I’ve put away my winter clothes and refused to pull them out. I actually have several cotton sweaters of course, and I could have worn any of those. But then I realized that I never really would have to be outside. I was going from one garage to another garage, and I’d be inside warm homes otherwise. So I decided to wear my cotton-merino polo top and khaki chinos. I felt like it was a nice compromise with the weather while still feeling more spring appropriate. After all, it was mid April.
I cranked up the heat and added my modern leather loafers. I played around with socks, but I just wasn’t feeling it. I purchased this cotton-merino polo last year, but it’s back in stock in this navy and other colors this year. It’s such a nice weight sweater, perfect for spring and fall especially. And I love the slightly cropped length and tapered fit. You don’t have to tuck it to get the best proportions.
My relaxed fit chinos are from Talbots and they’re in the sand castle shade. I’ve been wearing other shades of these relaxed fit chinos for years and love them. I appreciate that they have just a bit of stretch in them. I thought this navy and sand castle khaki was a smart color combination.
How I Really Dressed for Thursday
And the cold persisted. Argh. I was a little better prepared for the cold this spring than I was last year. That’s for sure. I’ve really enjoyed the cotton sweaters I bought for the season. But I guess I’d forgotten how long the cold lasted into the spring, and I certainly wasn’t prepared for freezing temperatures in April. So next year I’ll be a little more prepared than I was this spring, and eventually I’ll get this right!
So on Thursday I wore my white reversible tank under my long sleeve mink pink arbor v-neck sweater. It’s a cotton, acrylic and linen blend, very lightweight and pretty. Oh, and it looks like you can get 30% off your purchase at J.Jill right now with code APRIL21. I just wore my straight leg jeans from Talbots (that I cut off to make a raw edge at a nicer length for me) and my python print Paul Green loafers. By the way, Talbots is offering $25 off their full price pants and jeans through the weekend.
I hope you enjoyed today’s post. And I really hope I get to show you more warm weather outfits next week. Ha! Have a beautiful spring day, dear friend. Thanks for dropping in.

Really there’s no escaping character development. We can try to do the right thing here and there, but when push comes to shove our behavior is a strong indicator of what’s already inside. We, generally speaking, are characteristically who we are! What the old saying? Pretty is as pretty does.
I want to be a woman who is faithfully obedient to even the smallest commands God gives me. I want to be found on task with the jobs He gives me to do, even if they seem mundane and insignificant to me. Why? Because little things have big implications. What little things do you need to give greater attention to today?
The one who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and the one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. ~ Luke 16:10
The pink blouse looks lovely on you. SNOW!!! I won’t complain about the cool temps we are having in Texas this week when you are having to shovel snow. Somehow snow in April just doesn’t seem right. LOL
Thank you Katherine. Yeah, the weather has been crazy. Enjoy those cool temps in Texas. You know what’s coming! 🔥Thanks for reading today’s post.
One of the coolest responses to your monthly wardrobe list has been the photos of long term relationships when your prompt was for romance. I have utterly enjoyed seeing the reader photos on Facebook! It increases the feeling of community to see the history of the women with their beloved ones.
I was just telling my husband about that. It wasn’t the the response I had anticipated, but I’m so glad so many women went in that direction with it. I thought it was lovely too. 💕
Lord, give me patience with this cold weather and give it to me now. 😊 Even here on the Coast we are going from hot to cold. I think this is it thought. My honeysuckles are blooming.
I enjoy this post every week because it brings fashion down to the way I usually dress. A sweatshirt, jeans and tennis shoes changes to a tee shirt, drawstring pants and sandals come summer. I do clean up well when necessary but i love to see your everyday looks.
I really like all your looks this week. Especially the paisley shell and sweater and the pink blouse. I think I need a bright pink blouse! We had snow here too in NE Ohio. It is still cool here but warming up. Take care and have a blessed relaxing weekend.
Kay. I pray you have a very blessed eekend!! Your Blessing of the Day…I’ve been trying to live this ay for 35 years! Amen ! Amen! The LORD ill give us His strength to endure to the end!! Praise the LORD!!
The paisley blouse and blue cardigan are winners on you! They brighten up your face. They are happiness. And one thing I’m going to appropriate for myself more is neutral shoes and sandals. Looking at how others dress makes me realize how shoes can make me look up because the feet don’t call attention to themselves – or look down because they are such attention grabbers. If I can’t match my shoes with my pants or dress, then neutral it is!
Morning Kay, In the first photo “Dressed for Friday’ I prefer the T-Shirt out rather than tucked in, it is not a long T Shirt and finishes at a nice spot , two inches longer and then tucked in would be better. I am only 5’1” so every T-Shirt is too long for me. A question about your hair, do you find your hair harder to style now that you have lots of layers in it ( I have a bob similar to your Welcome photo that is on each post, where you are wearing the soft pink sweater, although mine is nearer chin length) It looks like you have lots of hair and it makes the style look lovely. My hair is thinner and I imagine it would not look nearly as good as yours with all the layers. Thanks for your posts, it must take a lot of your time keeping in touch with us all.
Hi Sandra. I actually style it pretty much the same as when I had the bob. So no, it’s still quite easy. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Happy Saturday from a very wet and stormy south central Georgia! I know that you and James are getting very excited about moving into your new home. Good luck with the preparation! I like all of your daily outfits and think you look so nice in them. My top two are: the beautiful long sleeve pink blouse and the navy and sand castle color pants outfit.
We lived in Hamilton, Ohio for two years fifty years ago. One memory is the tulips blooming in the snow on my way to work. It was beautiful!
Hi Kay,
I LOVED your video with your black dress! I have ordered an Ann Taylor dress in 2 sizes and will see how they fit. But I wish listed your dress! That is the one I really hope to get! I purchased some leopard and black pumps too and looking forward to receiving those as well.
I would also like to get a red blazer too. Maybe Nordstrom will come out with their 1901 blazer in red. I hope to find a classic style that hits at the hip with one button and a true red or slightly warm color.
Thank you so much!
Blessings,
Beth
Wonderful! I’m so glad you were inspired. Thanks for sharing Beth.
I ordered the linen pants in flax last week that you showed with the pink linen cardigan. Thinking I didn’t need the pink cardigan, even though I love it I passed. Showed the outfit again today and I went and ordered it. Ha Ha
You really needed some much needed sleep. We have to remember to slow down sometimes and rest. You have so much going on sometimes and with the house too you are getting ready to move in to. Bless you.
