Happy Friday! It’s time for me to share my real life outfits from the past week or so. And since I’m trying to get back on schedule from our move, I’m determined to get this post up today. I just got home yesterday from my parents’ home in Georgia. And I came back to Cincinnati with my daughter Abigail and her boyfriend (my husband had already come home last week). So I’m trying to get this daily outfit rundown up for you before things get hopping here.

Sizing Information
Just for reference, I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 155. I generally wear a size 8 or medium in dresses, tops, jackets and pants (or 29 or 30 in jeans), so that’s what I’m wearing in these looks unless I tell you otherwise. That way you can assume everything I show you is true to size unless I alert you to sizing up or down. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and, again, I’ll just let you know if I sized up or down in a shoe, otherwise it’s true to size.
My Travel Wardrobe in Outfits
Today’s How I Really Dressed for My Day post is a little different from others, however. These are the outfits I created from my travel capsule wardrobe, which I shared extensively in this post, What I Packed for a Visit with Family & Friends. I’m not sharing my outfits from our three day trip to the lake because I didn’t take outfit photos those days. I just really needed to completely unplug, so once we’d snapped a coupe of photos for my What I Packed for a Few Days at the Lake, I put my phone away (along with my makeup!).
And since I’ve already shared why I chose to take the clothes I took on my trip in this post, I’m just going to post the photos of my outfits with an occasional line or two about where or why I wore each outfit. Let’s get going!
I don’t have a photo of my travel outfit. I wore a dress similar to this fit and flare travel dress. I wore that dress on our trip back home yesterday, too, and once again forgot to snap a photo. But when we arrived in Georgia Monday night I changed into the outfit above to “meet the boyfriend.” This puckered linen duo felt relaxed and comfortable but also a little elevated for our dinner with Abigail and her beau.
The next day my brother and sister-in-law, my aunt and Abigail joined my parents and James and me for a family gathering. This fun graphic tee expressed perfectly how I felt about the day. My graphic tee is about sold out, but this “ready, set, vacation” tee is darling and fully stocked.
I honestly don’t remember if I ended up wearing the ruana wrap all day, but I snapped a photo without it, too.
The next day James and I left for the lake. You can check out what I packed for that mini vacay in this post. When we returned to my parents’ house on Friday, James stayed long enough to each lunch with my mom and dad and then headed home to Cincinnati. I’m pretty sure I wore these shorts and linen blend top on Saturday.
I really enjoyed mixing and matching these puckered linen separates (or here). They are pricey, but they’re luxuriously soft and cool. Obviously the shorts felt comfortable and cool, but even the pants felt just like shorts! We were in the 90s this day, so I was glad I had them. You can check out the whole collection at Eileen Fisher.
I wore my simple knit dress Sunday to church and lunch. I’d purchased this Eileen Fisher dress in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last year for about 40% off. I think they have an Eileen Fisher dress in the sale most years, so watch for it in this year’s sale. (Be sure to check out my post on How to Prepare for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Now. )
Monday was a work from home day as I tried to get posts up for the rest of the week so I could play. Abigail, who is now assisting me about 5 hours a week, met with me to go over her responsibilities, but the rest of the day was just typing up posts. So I felt comfortable and a little professional in this black and taupe duo.
Later in the evening I changed into this outfit to go out. I love how this all natural and white outfit came together.
The next day I went to lunch with my mom, aunt and daughter. We ate at a quaint old restaurant called the Old Vinings Inn. I hadn’t eaten there in years, but it was absolutely delicious. We had the best time. I wore my black linen lantern pants (and here) (more economical option), black tank (similar) and cotton/linen blend cardigan for a column of black. So chic!
And then on Wednesday I finally got to meet up with my good friend Michelle for a long lunch. I knew she was going to be dressed casually since she was coming from serving in Vacation Bible School, but my choices were limited. So I wore my black linen lantern pants (and here) (more economical option) and a bright pink tank. I did carry along my white linen shirt (similar option with more size availability) (not shown here) and ended up wearing it in the restaurant since it was quite cool.
Again, I don’t have a photo of my fit and flare travel dress that I traveled home in. But when we arrived in Cincinnati we dressed to go out to dinner with friends. I wore my flyweight jumpsuit with a silk kimono (similar by same brand; more economical options) and my leopard print slide sandals. So fun! (Oh, and as much as I loved wearing all my linen on vacation, it felt kinda nice to put on something else at this point. Ha!)
Oops! Somebody needs to wash that mirror! 😉
Well, thank you for joining me for the rundown of my daily outfits. Remember, you can check out my post What I Packed for a Visit with Family & Friends for more information on how I packed for this houseguest vacation. There I also shared my workout wear, pajamas and lounge wear. By the way, I did wear my lounge set; I just forgot to take a photo.
You have a great Friday! I’m heading out to pick up groceries so I can cook tonight’s dinner ahead. Then I’m joining everyone else for lunch and some afternoon fun.

Blessed for My Day
I was hurriedly looking for a particularly verse I wanted to share today, and I was growing frustrated because I couldn’t locate it. I need to get out and get these groceries because I want my daughter’s boyfriend know I can cook. Ha! In my frenzy I came across this scripture where I thought I’d locate the other one. Hmm. I think the Lord was saying something to me.
I’m reminded that it’s more important to share love and and gracious, biblical hospitality with my guest than try to impress him or anyone with my cooking. Let’s keep things in perspective today, dear friends.
Better is a dinner of herbs where love is
than a fattened ox and hatred with it. ~ Proverbs 15:17
Nice post! Hope you feel re-charged! And someone got an upgrade on their phone, too!!
BFMD reminded me of what I just read. Mary sitting at Jesus feet listening to him while Martha fusses about the food and house. Missing the important thing about the day.
I love it when I get to see how you mix and match pieces. I just love it when a look comes together. My favorite is the totally neutral outfit. Glad you got some help.😊
So enjoy your emails with photos. Not that I’m in a position like you, but enjoy the way you put items and colors together.
Loved all the mix-n-match combos! Such a perfect way to enjoy a variety of dress while traveling. Especially liked the “column of beige/white” outfit. Thanks for all the inspiration!! Now time to rest and recover from your vacation! 🍦
What a great BFMD and welcome home! Yes, I think God intended for you to read that scripture today. I hope that y’all have a fabulous weekend and that you are recharged after your time in GA. Based on the forecast for this weekend, due to the tropical storm, being back in OH is a good thing, for sure. I really like what you wore last night.
Kay, Amen!! Amen!!
Absolutely love your posts. I have learned so much. Even casual can be elegant. Thank you Kay.
I loved the BFMD. I think God was talking to your. He talks to us all the time, we just need to listen sometimes
I like the Eileen Fisher lien and cotton pieces. I wish they weren’t all so boxy
I look horrible in boxy. I really liked the black pants, tank and kimono and the dress
You have made me rethink linen. I pulled a pair of linen pants out of a to-be-donated box, and wore them. Very comfortable, and very wrinkled by end of day. I will wash and iron before wearing again. On trips, I like to pack clothes I can wear multiple times.
