Welcome to another one of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale top pick bonus posts. While I’m continuing to provide balanced content here at Dressed for My Day – including my How I Really Dressed for My Dayposts, style tips and summer outfit ideas – I’m also providing a rundown of my favorite finds in the #Nsale. Here I’m sharing my top 10 dress choices from the sale, but you’ll find all my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale coverage HERE.
Noteworthy Style Trends
I absolutely love the selection of dresses in this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Usually I’m a little unimpressed. But this year I see great options for work, church and weddings or other occasions.
This year we’re seeing:
- more florals in beautiful colors
- trimming silhouettes
- but also relaxed fit casual dresses
- lots of neutrals, especially black and grey
- pretty colors like cobalt blue, fuchsia, red, and teal
- other modern prints, like plaids and Ikat
- feel-good fabrics
- all sorts of lengths and necklines
- cutouts
Before you shop…
You want to shop this sale like a boss. So before you begin filling your Nordstrom Anniversary Sale wish list or shopping for dresses, consider these things:
- what occasions do you have upcoming on your calendar?
- how do you want to dress for work, church or other occasions where you might wear a dress?
- what dresses do you need to accomplish your personal style aesthetic?
- do you have that “little black dress?” It doesn’t have to be black, by the way.
- do you have something in your closet appropriate for funerals or memorial services?
- what hem length looks best on you?
- what neckline works best for you?
- what are your chosen neutrals and signature colors? (But if you’re going to deviate from these, a dress is the way to go!)
When you’re shopping the women’s dresses, I suggest narrowing your search using the filters that fit your needs, including color, neck style and length.

And here are my top ten twenty women’s dresses in the sale. I’m sharing them in order of price, lowest to highest. Remember, Nordstrom provides free shipping, no minimum required. And they make returns easy and FREE, too. In fact, you can return shipped purchases to your nearest Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack, or you can ship them back free.
One more thing, I want you to know that I chose these dresses with you and me in mind. I selected options that look somewhat comfortable, have the most flattering necklines for most of my 50+ aged readers and are appropriate for the life events, occasions or professions that many of us have. I’ll be curating all of my #NSale coverage that way. So I really appreciate it when you return to these posts to curate your own wish list and shop the sale. Thank you so much for reading and shopping Dressed for My Day. I’m grateful for you!
I started out creating these posts with detailed summaries of each item. Well, that’s not going to happen anymore. Ha! Instead I am sharing closeup collages and then a shopping widget for the entire collection (plus a few more). You can shop through the captions to the photos or the widget.
The first floral dress above comes in both misses and plus sizes, as do several of the other dresses I’ve chosen. I love any of these for fall weddings. And the Maggy London Knit Sheath Dress and the Eliza J Ruched Long Sleeve Faux Wrap Dress are potentially nice work dresses. All of these are under $100 in the sale, and all of them but the first dress will go up to well over $100 after the sale.
I love that Eliza J Print Jersey Faux Wrap Dress for church and work, but it would also be nice for a less formal wedding. It’s also available in plus sizes. Any of the others would be nice for a wedding or other occasions, as well as church. All of these are under $100 in the sale, but go up to well over that afterwards.
The first dress, the Tahari Asymmetrical Knot Sheath Dress, also comes in a beautiful garnet red and a soft olive green. I’m ordering the olive green. But that dress in the black would make a beautiful and versatile LBD. I appreciate that the two floral dresses are in small floral prints, which are generally best for many of us. But those florals are still modern, so they don’t look like granny prints. Know what I mean? I do prefer open necklines, but these closed necklines have nice detailing and sleeve features. Again, all of these dresses are under $100 in the sale.
I really love the Tahari Plaid V-Neck Sheath Dress above and will be ordering it. It comes in a dark leopard print, too, and that will be perfectly lovely also. But I think the plaid is fresh and modern. That Harper Rose Dot Print Sleeveless Midi Dress features such beautiful colors and a feminine swingy skirt. The Eliza J Flutter Sleeve Belted Crepe Dress also comes in wine and in plus sizes in wine. I’m ordering one of those, too, but haven’t decided which color.
Again, all of the above dresses are less than $100 in the sale.
It’s a little odd that the most casual dresses among my choices are in the more expensive category. But when you factor in price per wear, these may actually be the most cost effective, since we tend to wear those special occasion dresses less frequently than these more everyday selections. I’m ordering the Vince Double V-Neck Knit Popover Dress in that charcoal grey shown here, but it also comes in black. Only that final dress is over $100 in the sale; the rest are under $100. And that last dress? It will go up to close to $200 after the sale. I have a clue that it feels luxurious. We’ll see.
Shop These and a Few More
I’ve filled a shopping widget with these favorites and a few more honorable mentions. But remember, you can shop all the NSale women’s dresses HERE.
Also, disregard the prices and the SOLD OUT markings. These are not accurate. The sale has not yet begun. When it begins all products will be completely stocked in all sizes. But I think these boots and booties will sell fast.

Blessed for My Day
It is good to walk with the Lord with a clean conscious. We absolutely can live a life above reproach. We can choose to live according to the precepts of God’s Word, making it a plumb line for our behavior, words and thoughts.
But even as we do our best to make godly decisions and live a life that reflects His glory each day, we must humble ourselves before God daily for examination. The wise woman is one who keeps a posture of humility, allowing God to test her heart and mind and behaviors. She is one who quickly confesses the sins He points out and chooses to correct her path when necessary. Let’s be mindful of the fact that heeding conviction is not a shameful act, but a cleansing and refreshing one. And let’s choose to humbly sit before God each day for that healing opportunity.
Test me, Lord, and try me,
examine my heart and my mind;
for I have always been mindful of your unfailing love
and have lived in reliance on your faithfulness. ~ Psalm 26:2-3
I am petite and my best dress length is above the knee. I have never found a dress that would fit me in the anniversary sale. Once in awhile, Eliza J has a petite dress, but at full price. I find most of my dresses at Macy’s. Oh, well, lots of other things to buy in the Anniversary Sale!
Do you think it is too soon to purchase a dress for a May 2022 wedding?
Hi Cyndi. I think it’s a great time to purchase a dress for a May wedding if you’re the kind of woman to stick with your choice for that long. You could probably find some beautiful spring styles on sale right now for end-of-the-season sales. Plus, it may be difficult to find something for a May wedding in, say, February or March. Is this for a guest dress or a Mother of the Bride or Groom dress? If it’s a formal dress, I’d definitely purchase now so you can have alterations if needed. But if it’s a guest dress, you don’t have to purchase as far in advance. So it just really depends on whether or not you’ll stick with your choice.
