Hello ladies! Today I’m spilling the beans about my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases. I bought a lot! But even more than I expected is going back. I’m also quite disappointed that so much has quickly sold out this year. I don’t know if they stocked less than in previous years, but it seems to me that items sold out faster. I’ve heard and I’m hoping that Nordstrom will be restocking a lot, and of course returns will start coming in. At any rate, let’s get this show started!

I’ll be sharing photos of most of everything I’m keeping and giving you the scoop on what I like about it. I also have photos of a few items I love but am returning for one reason or another. I’ll give you all the details on that, too, of course. But I’m not sharing photos of things that just didn’t fit or work at all. I have no desire to stand in front of a camera wearing something that doesn’t even zip up or that falls off of me. Ha! Finally, I do still have purchases coming in. I’ll add those over the next few days as they arrive and I try them, so check back in if you’d like to know how they turned out.
Frame Le Sylvie Crop Straight Raw Edge Jeans // I love these jeans! I ordered several of the higher priced premium denim jeans, but these are one of just two pair I’m keeping. Most of the others didn’t work at all. And I’m so glad to see that these Straight Raw Edge Jeans appear to be fully stocked still, because I can fully get behind…and in!!…these jeans. I wore them in this week’s video and was delightfully surprised to see that even when I turned around (which I loathe doing!) they looked good. They run true to size. I have the 30. They have that raw edge I love and an ample 14″ leg opening, which works nicely for my thicker calves. I also appreciate the 11″ front rise and the amount of stretch in the fabric. Verdict: Keeping!
Caslon Ribbed V-Neck Tunic // I purchased this Ribbed V-Neck Tunic because it seemed like a nice option for just an everyday top to pair with jeans. The one review on the website says it’s thin and cheap. I don’t think it’s that thin and I think it is what I paid for. I wouldn’t pay full price for this Ribbed V-Neck Tunic, but at the sale price it’s a good closet basic for the fall and winter. It does have a lot of stretch. I’m wearing the medium, but consider sizing down if you’re between sizes. Verdict: Undecided, waiting to see how everything adds up against my budget. (Note: I’ll be saying that a lot. In the end, I’d rather use my #NSale budget to invest in things that will be workhorses in my wardrobe and perhaps stay in my closet for several seasons. So I’ll rank the things I like and then make final cuts based on my budget. I always stay within my budget on this sale.)
Eileen Fisher Joss Knit Bootie // I’m definitely keeping these versatile and comfortable booties. They feel great on and go on and off easily. They’re true to size. I’m wearing them in the chocolate and I’ve ordered the graphite booties, too. I think I’ll be able to wear them three seasons. And, most importantly, they work nicely with straight leg jeans. That’s important to me because I’m saying goodbye to my skinnies…for the most part. Verdict: Keeping and ordered more.
Wit & Wisdom Absolution Raw Hem Crop Straight Leg Jeans // I also featured these Raw Hem Crop Straight Leg Jeans from Wit & Wisdom in this week’s video. They’re a GREAT option at the lower price point. You can’t beat them for less than $50. The dark wash is perfect, especially if you’re limiting the number of pairs of jeans in your closet. And they fit nicely true to size. I would prefer that the front rise were higher; it’s just 9.25″ and I prefer an 11″ rise. But for a mid rise jean they feel good. Verdict: Undecided.
Treasure & Bond V-Neck Sweater // Unfortunately this Treasure & Bond V-Neck Sweater is about sold out. That’s a shame because it’s a good one. It’s very soft and I loved the color selection they originally had. I’m wearing a soft grey and now it’s just available in a beige oatmeal. But I bet this one may be restocked, so keep your eyes open for it. I’m wearing a small, so maybe size down. I like that it’s not super long. Verdict: Undecided.
Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star Lift Platform Sneakers // I didn’t see these Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star Lift Platform Sneakers when I originally perused the preview of the sale. I think I probably thought they were canvas and skipped on over them. But they are indeed a very lightweight leather. And I love the slightly edgy look of the gold hardware and the lift platform. You must size down in these. I normally wear a 9.5 across the board, but went down to an unprecedented 8.5 in these. Verdict: KEEPING.
Kendra Scott Muriel Pendant Necklace // I didn’t really have to try on this Kendra Scott Muriel Pendant Necklace to know I’d be keeping it. I think the length will be great for this fall and winter, when I tend to wear a lot of turtlenecks. It comes in two other colors, too. Verdict: Keeping.
Re/Done 70s High Waist Ankle Stovepipe Jeans // I think the Re/Done brand was new to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year, and I was anxious to try them. They’re pricey, alright. I would never pay the original price and doubted I’d pay the sale price either. But…I may! These jeans fit true to size and they feel GREAT on. They feature a (somewhat) concealed button fly, a nice high waist (which I love, but I know not everyone does), a raw edge and a really trim but relaxed silhouette. Verdict: Undecided…but leaning toward keeping.
Halogen Balloon Sleeve Sweater // I’ve purchased Halogen sweaters in the NSale before and have always been pleased with them. They just make good basic sweaters for everyday wear. And the price is good, especially in the Sale. I do love the color choices this year for this Halogen Balloon Sleeve Sweater. I’m wearing the tan cobblestone heather, and it’s sold out in most sizes, but not all. I’m hoping this one will get restocked. I’m wearing a small, so size down. Verdict: Undecided.
P448 Thea Leopard Embossed Platform Sneaker // These pricey but oh so comfortable sneakers are not in my original list of purchases, so I must have ordered them later in the day. Maybe I shouldn’t have. I really thought I could just check them out without keeping them. I should know better. They are absolutely irresistible once you put them on. Be warned! They have several patterns of these P448s in the NSale, including these with a leopard print insert and these with just a little less bling altogether. They run true to size for me. Verdict: Keeping.
Vince Slub Wool Blend Cardigan // Here’s another extremely pricey item that I couldn’t resist once I tried it on. This Slub Wool Blend Cardigan feels more like cashmere, maybe a little chunkier. But has such a lovely drape and is so on trend. I’m wearing a medium and it fits okay, but I’ve actually ordered a small to see if I like the fit better. I’ll be keeping this one, either way. Here I’m wearing it without anything under it, but I’ll probably wear it with at least a camisole. I don’t know though. I’m wearing it with a t-shirt below. Verdict: Keeping, maybe sizing down (it has a lot of stretch).
Kut from the Kloth Elizabeth Fab Ab High Waist Raw Hem Ankle Straight Leg Jeans (sold out) // I am extremely disappointed that these Kut from the Kloth Raw Hem Ankle Straight Leg Jeans are sold out. They are one of my favorite finds in the sale, and evidently other people feel the same way. Ha! These have just a lighter wash than the others I’m keeping. They do run true to size (wearing an 8), just in case they get more in stock. These were a great price, too. Verdict: Keeping.
1.State Surplice Sleeveless Top // I’m surprised at how much I like this 1.State Surplice Sleeveless Top, shown in the next photo. It skims the body so nicely and is great for wearing tucked in, completely out or partially tucked. It will work wonderfully under blazers and cardigans. I’m wearing a medium and I’d say it fits true to size. Unfortunately it’s almost sold out, and may well be by the time this post goes live. I’m hoping the restock soon. Verdict: Undecided.
Treasure & Bond Puff Shoulder Cardigan (sold out) // Alas, this Treasure & Bond Puff Shoulder Cardigan sold out quickly. Again, I’m hoping they restock. It’s a perfect nod to the current bulky button up cardigan trend at a great price point, less than $50. It runs true to size. Fingers crossed it comes back in! Verdict: Keeping.
Aquatalia Dayana Water Resistant Stretch Bootie (runs small) // These were another last minute purchase on my double points day. But they’ll probably be going back. They run small in my estimation. But they’re also just ridiculously expensive. I might would pay the price, but I’d want them to fit like a well-oiled glove. These don’t. But they do have that lovely narrow shaft that we’re going to want with straight and wide leg jeans and pants. Verdict: Returning.
Next up, sweats!
Caslon Cozy Pullover Hoodie // Caslon Cozy Knit Joggers // These are purchased separately, but let’s talk about them as a pair. They’re both made from the same fabric. It’s not the softest I’ve ever put on, but it’s good for the very reasonable price. I love the look they create together, and they’re available in several colors. My blush pink top is sold out, but may be replenished. I found them to run true to size and feel very comfortable on. My only problem, and it’s a significant one for me, is that the openings are small. I have a hard time getting the ankle openings off my feet, of all things. And I find the neck opening a little narrow when putting it on and off. Verdict: Returning.
Brace yourself. Here come those controversial lantern pants from Monday’s hot post. Hahaha! I’m still loving them, but I think I’ve styled them a little better here.
Eileen Fisher Crop Wool Lantern Pants (size down) // These Eileen Fisher Crop Wool Lantern Pants run large as most Eileen Fisher clothing does, so size down. I’m wearing a small, which is now sold out. These charcoal grey pants are still available in most sizes, but the camel ones I’m about to show are not. While I took some flack for showing them with an oversized cardigan in Monday’s post, I love, love, love them with this closer fitting sweater. These pants are a beautiful, lightweight wool, perfect for early fall through spring since wool is a natural fiber and quite breathable. They also have pockets situated slightly to the front of the side seams. They’re just very comfortable and fun to wear. Verdict: Keeping.
Club Monaco Shrunken Cashmere Cardigan // I was on the fence about this Shrunken Cashmere Cardigan because it felt a little small at first. But I think it’s just the shrunken fit that took a bit of getting used to. Looking at it with these Crop Wool Lantern Pants, I love it. It’s very soft and such a pretty pale grey. I think it’s a very feminine iteration of the trending button up cardigans. I wouldn’t mind trying a large, but this medium fits me the same way the one fits the model on the website, so I’ll probably just stay with this one…if I keep it. Verdict: Undecided.
There’s nothing above that I haven’t already shared. But I wanted you to see those Eileen Fisher Crop Wool Lantern Pants with the Aquatalia Dayana Water Resistant Stretch Bootie simply as a style guide. This is why I want a pair of narrow shaft booties for the fall and winter. They will work so well under not only these lantern style pants, but other straight and wide leg pants, too. And they’re especially good for these cropped styles. I’ll just have to find some at a better price and fit.
Lafayette 148 Side Stripe Stretch Wool Blend Pants // These Stretch Wool Blend Pants are another pair of pricey pants. But in my search for a pair of comfortable wool pants, I purchased them. I do like the look of them. And they feel very comfortable and easy to wear. However, they’re just the slightest bit snug on my thick legs. So I’m not keeping them. But I have nothing against these pants at all. If, by chance, they’re on your list, don’t hesitate to try them. They’re still available in this dark brown and the camel, and they come in a full range of sizes from petite to XXL. Verdict: Returning.
This next purchase was a huge splurge that I bought at the store. I probably never should have tried it on. Ha! And I’m probably still going to return them. But let’s take a look…
Lafayette 148 Ashby Arcadia One-Button Jacket // Lafayette 148 Murray Crop Stretch Wool Blend Pants // If I worked somewhere besides a home office I would not hesitate one iota to keep this One-Button Jacket and the coordinating Crop Stretch Wool Blend Pants by Lafayette 148. It is so lightweight and luxurious feeling. And I think it looks pretty darn good, too. I do have a few speaking engagements lined up for this fall, but I don’t think those justify keeping this set of separates. But if you’re working in an environment where this would work for you, hmm, hmm, hmm. It all fits true to size. I’m wearing a medium in both and they’re just the slightest bit roomy. But remember, Nordstrom does tailoring. Verdict: Returning.
Dresses… I ordered a few that got cancelled on me. But here are the two I received.
Tahari Asymmetrical Knot Sheath Dress // This Tahari Asymmetrical Knot Sheath Dress is just as lovely as the one I purchased last year. Yep, I purchased basically (maybe the exactly???) same dress last year, and that’s why I probably won’t be keeping this one. I do love, love, love this soft green. It’s actually the same color as my eyes. The dress fits a little snug. I’m wearing my usual 8 and it fits. But if I sized up to a 10 I’d probably be a little more comfortable and it would still look like it’s supposed to. Verdict: Returning.
Eliza J Flutter Sleeve Belted Crepe Dress // Again, if I were a working woman (in an outside the home office) I might would keep this Eliza J Flutter Sleeve Belted Crepe Dress. It feels very professional. I think it’s a lovely dress, but it’s a little more fussy and structured than I want in a Sunday dress. You need to know that the crepe fabric is a little heavier than I had assumed it to be. So keep that in mind. It also runs a bit small. (I would think it’s just me that runs large except I’ve heard other bloggers say the same thing about both of these dresses.) Verdict: Returning.
Karl Lagerfeld Royal Pump // I actually purchased these Karl Lagerfeld Royal Pumps last year in the #NSale, but I thought I’d go ahead and tell you about them since they’re in the sale again this year. I think these are the perfect classic pump, especially for the price. They do come in black leather and three patent leather colors as well. They fit true to size and feel reasonably comfortable for pumps. Honestly, I like my Ally pumps a lot more. But these are a fraction of the price. Verdict: Kept last year.
Coach Turnlock Clasp Satchel // I picked up this bag in the store. I love, love, love the soft, pebbled leather and the two completely detachable and interchangeable straps that come with it. This bag feels just right in your hand. And it has the coolest zipper, magnetic closure and lockable compartments. Just perfection. And I love the multicolors, too. Verdict: Keeping!!! Favorite #NSale Purchase
Well, that’s all the photos I have to share. Let me give you the rundown on the other items I ordered.
Returning
The following did not work for me and I’m returning them.
- Paige Cindy Ripped Straight Leg Jeans – These fit true to size, but I just liked the others shown above better.
- Zella Peaceful Wideleg Sweat Pants – These fit, but I didn’t really care for the rise. A little low for me.
- Levi’s® Ribcage Ripped High Waist Ankle Straight Leg Jeans – These ran really small on me.
- Good American Straight High Waist Ankle Jeans – These were way too small and just didn’t seem worth returning for a different size.
- Lauren Ralph Lauren Snap Front Quilted Jacket – I purchased this in the black. But I didn’t like the fit at all. It was boxy and just seemed superfluous.
- AllSaints Ariel Top Zip Boot – I liked these, but I don’t need them. And I really like the Sorel boots I bought last year so much better.
- Nic+Zoe Sleek Jacket – I’m usually a big fan of Nic+Zoe, but I didn’t think this jacket did anything for me at all.
- Nic+Zoe Ribbed Funnel Neck Knit Top – And this one has a strange chemical odor. Hum.
- Moonlight comfort Layer T-shirt – I expect they will restock this, but size up. While the other layering tees I have fit true to size, this one ran small on me.
Haven’t Yet Received
I’ve ordered these things and haven’t yet received them. Some of them I ordered a week ago.
- NYDJ Marilyn Stretch Straight Leg Jeans – I have reasonable expectations and high hopes for these.
- Levi’s® 501® High Waist Crop Straight Leg Jeans – I came across these as I was editing this week’s video. I hope they work, but Levi’s sizing seems to be all over the place.
- Sam Edelman Plaid Notch Collar Coat – It’s supposed to arrive today.
- Sam Edelman Plaid Teddy Coat – Also supposed to arrive today.
- Calvin Klein Balan Slingback Pump – I ordered in the plain black leather.
Additional Things I’m Keeping or am Undecided About
- Cole Haan Box Quilted Shirt Jacket – James has yet to try this on. We thought it looked nice for day outings and everyday wear until it gets really cold. He doesn’t have a lightweight coat like this, so we’ll see.
- Moonlight Luxe Comfort Layer Tank – fits true to size.
- Adidas Edge Luxe 4 Running Shoes – I’ve worn these for a while and they work for me.
- Bomba ankle socks – maybe these will restock? I love my Bomba socks. These didn’t disappoint.
- Textured Marble Coasters – I’m hoping these restock. They’re lovely. Very heavy and luxe.
- Franco Sarto Waxton Chelsea Boot – I bought these in the hazelnut leather and they’re lovely. I love the squared off toe and the block heels. I’m keeping these.
- Riki Skinny 10X Lighted Mirror – This will just stay in my office and be used for video tutorials. Nice mirror with some great features. Pricey, but this is a business expense for me.
- Barbour Shaw Hooded Puffer Coat – I purchased this in the latte. It is so lush and lightweight. Love it!
- Nordstrom Signature Open Front Cashmere Cardigan – I purchased this cardigan in the beige color and it’s dreamy. If you wear a lot of navy, this might be a nice option. Pricey, but classic.
- Estee Lauder Definicils Mascara Set – I love this mascara and purchase this set every year. Such a good deal!
I think that’s it! If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks so much for stopping in today. Have a good one! Oh, and I am including a shopping widget with everything I’ve shown, including items I wore in the photos that are not a part of the Sale.

Is someone serving as a thorn in your side? Oh, man. I get it. You’re humming along, singing a song…until someone comes along and decides it’s their responsibility to set you straight. Hahaha! We’ve all had those times. Whether they’re truly hostile, jealous and mean-spirited or just misinformed and a little clueless, other people can really discourage us, can’t they?
When this happens I think it’s wise to take our discouragement to the Lord first, asking Him alone if there is any justification for the the naysaying or pushback. Once we’ve cleared things with Him, it’s best to reset our focus and move along. Trust that God will lovingly put a halt to your plans or adjust your course, if that’s needed. But don’t let the misplaced discouragement from other people to keep you from doing something that God has directed you to do or planted in your heart.
Then the people of the land discouraged the people of Judah, and frightened them from building, and hired counselors against them to frustrate their counsel all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia. Now in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, they wrote an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem. ~ Ezra 4:4-6
Kay, You look fantastic in your two dress choices!!!!
Thank you Natalie. They are really pretty dresses.
I do like the straight leg jeans with the crop length and raw edge. I can’t get behind the lantern pans and short cardigans. Sorry love the green dress. I wish I needed booties. Love the knit ones. Thanks for this post.
You bet. Thanks for reading! 😊
I love your Jean and sweater choices! You look great!
Thanks Amy. They are some great jeans. 😊
Very helpful! Thank you so much!
You bet! 🥰
I can’t wear high heels, what flats do you recommend ?
Clarks , Cloudsteppers, cute young looking flats with memory foam. QVC has the exclusive at this time. I loved them so much I bought Black, Red, Leopard, Beige and a Black &White Spot. They were so popular I think they sold out but I’m guessing they will return
Excellent post Kay! EVERYTHING looks so good on you. Loved your thorough details on each outfit and disappointed some things are sold out. I too, was not as happy with this years NSale. So far, everything I purchased (that has arrived) I’m returning! Have yet to receive the big ticket items I ordered but some are coming today and tomorrow. I ordered the same Coach bag you did (upon your recommendation) and can’t WAIT to get it! I’m a huge Coach fan and have been looking for the perfect bag to wear with everything for several years now. I ‘think’ I may have finally found it. Or rather YOU found it! Hehe! Thanks, Kay, for everything!
Great post! Appreciate your honesty and reasons for keeping or returning.
You are one of the only bloggers that is in my camp. I have returned numerous pants, jeans and joggers because they run small in the calf. The websites should have leg opening measurements
I disagree about the Lafayette 148 trousers, they were my favorite thing you bought and I thought they looked great on you!!!!!
Thanks. I love the look. But they just don’t fit my legs very well. I understand that they look good, but they don’t feel good. 😌
I ordered the State Surplus sleeveless top based on a recommendation from Tania Stephens at 50 Is Not Old, and am waiting on it to arrive. I believe Marc Fisher has a pair of booties in the sale that would work well with the lantern pants and other style pants. I find them to be TTS. I did not order them and am thinking I should have. Instead I am waiting on the chunky booties to get here. While the size choices are slim, I really like the Zella brand for very comfortable casual wear. I am still on the lookout for an economical pair of lantern pants to try, as in under $50. Are you tired of peeling peaches yet! As good as they are, they are messy. Have a great day!
Hahaha! They are messy! But I’m enjoying doing something more domestic. 🥰
This post is so helpful — to see how items look on you and hear your sizing notes, etc. I’m sure this takes a LONG time to prepare so want you to know how much it is appreciated.
Thanks so much Cheri. I’m really glad it was helpful. 🙂
Still love lantern pants. I stay away from tennis shoes because if they fit and feel
comfortable, I want them. I have too many already. No more jackets I should tattoo on my forehead. But I’m all in this year for sweats that are soft and accessories. Pants that have a long enough crotch and fabric I can’t write a letter on. I think your reasons for returning should register with these stores who just not paying attention to fit or quality, anymore.
You’d have to tattoo it on your forehead in reverse so you could read it in the mirror! – !STEKCAJ EROM ON . Ha ha! That made me smile, Eve.
I tried the pink platform Keds. So cute! Unfortunately I had to return them and I reordered the Sam Edelman ethyl sneakers in snake print. I really would like to try the P448 but I already have a pair of Golden Goose I love. My mini NuFace bit the dust so I got the larger one. I won’t be wearing jeans until probably September ( Atlanta weather), but I’m trying to like the straight legs. You’ll be trying them all out for us. Enjoying your posts.
Thanks for sharing Rita. Yes! I’ll definitely be styling these jeans more. And sometimes it really just is a matter of letting our eyes adjust. I know that’s how I was with skinny jeans. 😉
Is it just me but I am never impressed with Nordstrom. I fail to see the excitement, Everything is over priced and I can find very current styles at Chico’s and Dillards for less. H&M also has current styles at fantastic prices.
You look so cute in everything (except I’m still not a fan of the lantern pants😬You look so slim in the other pants!) Great choices!!
Enjoyed your post. You looked awesome in every outfit. I really liked the verdict of keeping ,returning or undecided at the end of the styled outfits. .Thanks for putting in all the hard work. You’ve certainly made shopping the N Sale online so much easier.
