Happy Friday! I’m not always just real excited when weekends roll around. When I have extra posts to write or videos to shoot, Saturdays just seem like an extension of the work week. But this weekend I’m stepping away from work as much as possible to do some other things. So I’m very happy that it’s Friday. I’m also happy to be sharing with you how I really dressed for my day this past week.

However…I must warn you. Prepare to see some of the same outfits you saw just last week. Hahaha! It’s about this time in a season when I start living out of a small capsule wardrobe without even intending to. Like you, I gravitate to the pieces that I enjoy the most. So I start wearing things on constant repeat. I did try to style a few of those favorites a little differently, however, this week.
Sizing Information
Just for reference, I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 155. I generally wear a size 8 or medium in dresses, tops, jackets and pants (or 29 or 30 in jeans), so that’s what I’m wearing in these looks unless I tell you otherwise. That way you can assume everything I show you is true to size unless I alert you to sizing up or down. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and, again, I’ll just let you know if I sized up or down in a shoe, otherwise it’s true to size.
What I Wore Saturday
Yes, I skipped over last Friday. For some reason I didn’t get a photo of that outfit. I have video footage of it, however, so I know I wore the same jeans I wore Saturday with this simple white split neck embroidered tee. I love that slub cotton fabric! Anyhow, on Saturday I wore the same modern ankle jeans with ribbon tape with this sweet “sunshine” t-shirt.
I hadn’t worn my trainer sneakers in a while, so I broke those out. They’re fun to wear occasionally and I think they look pretty cute with the ankle jeans. By the way, this “sunshine” t-shirt is still stocked in all sizes as I write this, and it’s under $20.
How I Dressed for Church on Sunday
I attended our more traditional church worship service on Sunday, so I dressed up a bit. I had seen another influencer wear this chalk colored A-line skirt and coordinating ribbed cotton blend tank and thought it was stunning. I love separates like these that are both comfortable and pretty. I’m wearing a small in both pieces.
I honestly think this ivory color would probably look more beautiful on a woman with dark skin, but I enjoy wearing it, so there ya go! I decided to keep my accessories in the same soft neutral with my ivory colored braided slide sandals and these lovely marbled earrings from Rachelyn. I carried my new Coach handbag, which is my absolute favorite purchase from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. The sale opens to non-cardholders on July 28th!
I don’t have a shopping widget for this look, but you can shop the look through the links above.
What I Wore Monday
Monday I just worked from home before going to the church for a picnic with a small group of our church members. For the work day I wore my black denim shorts and a tee I’ve had for a couple of years. The jean shorts are almost sold out, but the price is marked down a good bit. I guess I was still in a monochromatic mood.
That evening I switched into my L.L.Bean summer dress for the picnic. It was so pleasant outside. I was glad I had changed into a pretty dress. Several of the other ladies were wearing similar casual dresses. I mean, the shorts would have been perfectly fine, too. Friends were wearing theirs.
I had worn this Summer Knit Dress several other times, always with nude colored sandals. So this time I decided to switch things up a little and wear my yellow citrine platform flip flops. They’re soooo comfortable. And I thought the soft yellow was a nice splash of color without being overpowering. There’s just the tiniest bit of yellow in the dress. My dress is still available by the way, but in limited sizes. And I think this similar blue Ikat print is just as lovely.
How I Dressed Tuesday
Tuesday I just worked all day on Wednesday’s video, but I felt like wearing a dress again. Specifically, I felt like wearing my black cotton dress from Everlane again. This simple shirtdress is oh so comfortable, and I really think the shirred waistline is quite flattering for an oversized silhouette. The shirtdress has been restocked, by the way.
An Instagram follower mentioned buying the dress and wearing it with more color, so I decided to accessorize it a little differently this time. I added an old turquoise necklace and bracelet. And instead of wearing my nude colored sandals that I’ve been wearing almost nonstop, I finished my outfit with my silver braided flip flops. These CeCe braided sandals seem to have been restocked, too, by the way. I think I’ve had these for several years now. Honestly, I’d still prefer the dress with neutrals, but I do think it works well with colorful jewelry and more interesting footwear, too.
My jewelry is not available, but wouldn’t this bracelet and this statement necklace look great with it??? Yes! Of course, then I would probably wear the gold CeCe braided sandals, which have also been restocked.
How I Dressed for Wednesday
Wednesday I worked on my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Purchases Review post and then baked peach pound cakes and froze some peaches, too. I’ll be sharing the recipe for my peach pound cake in my subscriber email on Saturday. It is so yummy – moist and bursting with fresh flavor. Anyhoo! (I get a little carried away when we start talking peaches!) I wanted to be comfortable so I wore my lightweight stretch crops and tie front stripe tee. They’re both in summer sage green, but the top is sold out in that color. And it’s about sold out in the lighter lagoon blue, too. It is such a fun shirt to wear. It has buttons up the back.
I just completed the outfit with my sneakers (more affordable option) and these darling starfish earrings.
What I Wore Thursday
Thursday I spent the morning doing laundry and tidying up the house. Then I baked more peach pound cakes. We’re giving the small loaf-size cakes to neighbors who were all so kind to us when we moved in a couple of months ago. But I also spent a good bit of time in my office, so I decided to dress up a bit more than the day before. I wore my new Frame straight leg crops that I bought in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I think I’m ending up with three pairs of jeans from the sale, and whichever pair I have on at the moment seem to be my favorite. These are mighty fine, though. The good news is these seem to still be well stocked. They’re premium denim with a premium price tag, but the NSale definitely makes them a little more affordable.
I topped my raw edge cropped jeans with my white Henley tee and a no-iron linen shirt. I love this duo. By the way, my linen shirt is marked waaay down from the original price. It’s been a great closet essential for the summer. Normally I probably wouldn’t wear the tee untucked with these cropped jeans, but I think the unbuttoned linen shirt helps keep the proportions right here. What do you think?
By the way, speaking of these raw edge cropped jeans, did you see this week’s video? It’s a nice short one!
Thanks so much for stopping in today. Let me know if you have any questions about anything I’ve shared. I love to hear from you.

Blessed for My Day
Joy is an honest-to-God emotion best experienced in the fellowship of others. Joy is contagious, and when you share your joy it encourages those who are struggling, waiting or praying diligently. This is a feeling that calls for a response. It shouldn’t be hidden or tamped down or contained.
So today I’d love for you to share with me your joy. How has God caused you to rejoice this week? What prayer has He answered, lesson has He taught, grace has He given or gift has He shared. I’d love to know. Share your joy with me!
And they observed the Feast of Unleavened Bread seven days with joy, for the Lord had caused them to rejoice, and had turned the heart of the king of Assyria toward them to encourage them in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel. ~ Ezra 6:22
I love seeing what wear daily. It’s fun to see someone not all fixed up and looking perfect pretending they always look that way. I have begun to take pictures of my outfits to help me remember how I put it together. I’m looking forward to your peach recipe.
I have a navy/white linen shirt thst I wear over my white jeans and blue tank. I wear my blue/white sneakers and I think I might wear it on repeat because my sil mentioned how much she likes this outfit. LOL I think the portions are perfect. I have to wear my top out so this is a favorite look of mine. That first dress looks great on you. Not that the black doesn’t, I just prefer the style of the first.
Actually, I think the A-line skirt and top in neutral look just stunning on you!! Just wishing I had some place to wear an outfit like that. Our church is SO casual. I still probably dress up more than everyone else but by golly, I’m going to wear what I love. I love jeans as much as the next person but honestly don’t want to wear them everyday ALL year around.
That’s me too Sondra. I like a little variety and love the opportunity to dress up a little occasionally. 🥰
My JOY UNSPEAKABLE this week is hands-down that my 27 year old daughter made it through her open heart surgery (at Duke)! I wasn’t allowed to wait inside the hospital, so my husband held my hand and we walked and prayed, walked and prayed, walked and prayed about a mile away. When I got the surgeon’s message that it went well and she was in ICU, I literally collapsed with weeping on the side of the road. I have never experienced such guttural joy, nor was I aware that joy could look like that. So thankful to God for the gift of our precious, fragile heritage
Oh my goodness!! Thank you so much for sharing this joy with us. Praise the Lord. We pray for continued healing and recovery. Bless you, dear momma. That must have been so hard to endure. But we rejoice with you in this huge answer to prayer. 🙌🏻

Love the black dress! We, mostly family and some close friends have started a Joy Society! We toured 8 of our gardens and had lunch at the Tea Room. We are going to do fun things and share Joy, with one another. It was so fun. Do you follow me on Elsie Mae on Market? I posted a lot of pictures. I wish we were still close, so you could be in our club!!!
Oh how wonderful!! That’s beautiful, Lezlee. I wish I were there, too. You could definitely count me in! Have fun!
Cute outfits! Other than the oversize black dress, I loved them all.
I love reading your posts each day and I am enjoying trying new styles and outfits based on the items and information you share! Lately, you have been sharing a lot of the ankle length, crop length, and lantern style pants. I think they look so cute on you and I love your outfits, but I am much shorter and wonder if those same type of pants will look good on me-I’m 5’4”. I did watch your video on proportions so I know not every size will look good in every style, but am just wondering if I should try one of those styles myself, or just admire the look on others…hoping for your thoughts and advice.
Thank you,
Kerry
Hi Kerry, Thank you so much for your comments. I’m glad you’re enjoying the blog posts. I think that you absolutely can wear these silhouettes and lengths, but you’ll simply need to shop carefully for the right lengths for your body. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to figure out what inseams and rises in pants work best for your body and then to keep that information handy when shopping. It’s important for us to remember that the models wearing the clothes on the retail websites vary in height, too. Whereas we used to assume all models were 5’10” or so, these days many retailers are using models of all sizes and shapes. Some retailers even tell you the size of the model showing the clothes and that can be quite helpful. For instance, Everlane often does this. But aside from that, it’s great to find retailers that disclose the inseam (leg length) and the rise of their pants. If you can get that information, you can shop wisely for these silhouettes and lengths. Of course, you can look for petite sizing, but even there I suggest you try to find the inseam and rise information. You know, come to think of it, most website also feature chat options where you can ask someone about such things. So definitely take advantage of that feature. Once you get the right length for you, it’s all about styling. For instance, you may need to tuck your top or wear a cropped length top to elongate your legs. You can also choose shoes that are flesh colored or the same color as the pants. Both of those styling tricks should help you pull of these looks. Good questions!
Thank you for all those good suggestions! I am waiting for my second idea outfit from you to arrive, so…I will start looking for some of those pants to create another new outfit for Fall!
Hi Kerry. I’m not sure what you’re talking about. Idea outfit? Maybe you have me confused with someone else?
Today’s post prompted me to write and share this past week’s experiences and how God has blessed and both humbled me through the actions of others.
Last Friday evening, while bringing in my garbage can, I fell in my driveway, scrapped up my arm and face and broke my arm. Just then, as I lay plastered to the cement in pain, my brother 3,000 miles away called. He was alarmed and told me to call 911. Everything after that has truly been God’s work. From neighbors, family to medical personnel, I have been blessed beyond measure.
I took care of my parents until both went to Heaven, help care for a disabled brother and work a minimum paying retail job. God told me to slow down this week and accept his graces through others. I am forever grateful.
Oh my. Praise the Lord for His protective hand on you. He was surely good to you! I pray you have a speedy and full recovery. Bless you!! 💕💕💕
My joy this week has been watching a Mama deer with her twins. She lovingly watches over them, feeds them and has been teaching them how to eat grass. She intuitively knows that they need exercise and allows time for them to play. She alerts them to danger if needed. God thought of everything when he created the world and all of the creatures in it!
Sherry, your joy comment brought to mind my joy this week. Last month we had the absolute joy watching a robin pair raise a family of four babies right outside our kitchen window. They tag-teamed bring food for the babies. It was beautiful. I spent a lot of time watching each sit on the fence and then fly up to the nest. From nest building to the fourth baby flying away, I was enthralled. Now the current joy…yesterday I was shocked and thrilled to see a dove sitting on the nest! The nest is perched on a curve of a gutter downspout right under the eaves of the roofline. The nest is too small for her-I can just hear her berating her mate about the size of the “house”!!! So excited to see another resident in the nest. And Kay, looking forward to the recipe tomorrow!
Oh how wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing Terry. I LOVE watching birds. 🥰
I love this! We watched a deer walk from our back yard to the front this morning. I know you have enjoyed those deer! Thanks so much for sharing. 💕
Not only do I enjoy seeing how you put together nice outfits, I love hearing about your day. You have such a fun, interesting life. I recently moved to a new state and don’t know anyone, and now that things are getting back to normal, I’m inspired by your posts to start making connections and living life again. Hey– I got the wardrobe to suit my new environment now, thank you very much!
Wonderful to hear Mimssa. You absolutely must get out there and do that. Thanks so much for sharing. 🥰
My joy is reconnecting with wonderful close friends that I haven’t seen due to the pandemic . It was so nice to reconnect. I definitely missed them.
Love the outfits you put together. It is given me some really good ideas with clothes I already have in my closet.
Thank you Kay
Hi Kay,
