Last week I styled a pretty green clip dot blouse with classic straight leg jeans for an elevated casual look. Well today I’m wearing that same cheerful, pretty blouse with a suit. This is the kind of outfit I love to wear to church in the fall and winter, but it would also be great for work or professional meetings.

I purchased these black suit separates from Talbots this spring when they were both marked down 50% and I had some Talbots classic awards notes. I love that I can wear the Italian luxe knit classic straight leg pants and the two button blazer separately but also together. That’s one of the perks of shopping Talbots consistently: they keep their black and indigo blue shades consistent through the years, so you can mix and match with them easily.
I’m wearing the Italian luxe knit Cambridge straight leg pants in my usual size 8. These pants are made from a medium weight, tightly spun blended fabric that has just the right amount of stretch, but they still look polished and luxurious. The Cambridge pants feature front slash pockets and back welt pockets. And they have a zipper fly and a hook and bar closure. They have a medium rise, hitting just barely above the hips. The Cambridge pants really are just classic suit pants.
But Talbots also has another pants option that coordinates with this blazer, as well as the other Italian luxe knit blazer. If you prefer no front pockets, you might want to check out these Italian luxe knit straight leg pants. I’ve tried on both pairs of pants and can tell you that they fit almost exactly the same. The only difference worth noting is that these have no front pockets, so if you’re concerned about bulges there, they are worth looking into.
My clip dot long sleeve blouse is selling fast. In fact, it’s no longer available in the alpine green I’m wearing. But it is available in limited sizes in five other colors But it looks like it has been restocked in all eight colors just today at Nordstrom. (Score!) It’s also available at Macy’s, but in fewer color options. You’ll also find a wide selection of other pretty blouses from the same designer here at Macy’s and here at Nordstrom.
To see how I styled the same blouse in a more casual setting, check out this previous blog post.
The two-button Italian luxe knit blazer fits true to size for me. If you have shorter arms or more narrow shoulders you might even need to size down. This blazer and the longer one button blazer both come in petite and plus sizes, too. And they both look beautiful with the Italian luxe knit sheath dress, which I featured in this video.
Because I know many of my readers prefer not to wear heels, I wore my Sarah Flint black Sacchetto Ballet flats. These exquisite shoes are made in Italy with the finest leather. They literally mold to your feet within minutes of putting them on. They’re amazingly comfortable but also feminine and beautiful. Use code SARAHFLINT-BAKAYH for $50 off your first purchase. These are an investment. For more economical shoes with a similar style aesthetic I would suggest these, but I don’t know anything about the comfort level. I’ll have more in the shopping widget, too.
I complimented my classic suit outfit with minimal but impactful jewelry. I’m wearing these Kendra Scott split hoop earrings and this Gorjana Wilder chain link necklace. And although you can only barely see it in the photo below, I think I’m wearing the Gorjana Parker bracelet, too.
And, yes, I’m wearing my Estee Lauder Rebellious Rose lipstick. You’ll see me wearing it a lot this fall and winter. It’s so versatile.
I shot a few of these photos with my blouse tucked in and others with it out. Because the blouse has a straight edge hemline that hits right below the hips, you can easily wear it untucked and still maintain pleasing proportions.
Thank you for stopping in today. If you have questions about anything I’ve shown today please let me know in the comments section below. I’ll try to keep an eye on them. I’ll be editing a video today, but I usually have chunks of time to check on social media and blog comments on these days. Have a lovely one!

While some of my readers may be retired from lifelong professions, none of us retire from the callings God places on our lives. During some seasons of life He does equip us to fulfill our callings through our professions. But during other seasons of life we continue to do the ministry He called us to in other venues, using different tools and reaching different people.
This is easier to grasp when we realize that our truest calling is to “testify to the gospel of the grace of God.” Wherever you are today and whatever the Lord has you doing, remember to share in some way the grace of God shown through His Son Jesus in you. That is your highest calling.
But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. ~ Acts 20:24
Good morning Kay! You look so nice in this outfit. It’s obvious why green is one of your signature colors. I like how your cup from Starbucks even coordinates with your outfit 😉. I wish you a beautiful day.
Lol! I hadn’t noticed that! Thanks so much for Ginger. Blessings to you too! 🥰
Very pretty blouse. Looks great with the suit. Nice that you showed it dressed up too, As well as casual before.
Nice blessed for my day
I love the color! Is it sheer in the sleeves? I was thinking of Christmas party but if it’s sheer I don’t think it will be warm enough and it’s a shame to cover it up.
Hi Eve! First of all, thank you for serving. I respect and honor you. It definitely is a shame to cover up those pretty sheer sleeves, but what a nice reveal it would be to take off your coat or jacket inside and have those sleeves noticed. Like the gift that keeps on giving.
Thank you. My pleasure.
I never thought of that. A great ta da moment.
Hello Eve. It’s a little sheer in the sleeves, but not so much that people really see your arms. It’s just not lined there. I think it will still be warm. The fabric is fairly substantial.
You look gorgeous in that green blouse. If I were you I’d wear it a lot!!
Another winner! You look absolutely radiant in that suit. That shade of green is perfect for you. Such a classy look, Kay.
BFMD hits home as always. I look forward to the lessons you share each day.
Enjoy this beautiful season,
Suzanne
Due to old age, medical conditions, and unattractive legs, I think a number of us are no longer wearing dresses. Would you please think about taking a day to show other options for date nights or luncheons that show semi-dressy slacks for fall and winter. Your suit today shows one great alternative. Thank you!
Kay, I checked everywhere (including spam) and am not getting your daily emails–since Friday. Can you troubleshoot your end for me? Thks.
