While I shared a fairly exhaustive fall color trend report in this previous post, looking back I realize I didn’t share much at all about three of the colors I’m seeing the most of in new seasonal fashions. So today I’m styling an outfit that includes all three of those rich, earthy shades. I’m wearing 3 trending colors of fall 2021 in this one outfit from Chico’s.
One of the trends we’re seeing this fall and winter is deeply pigmented coloration. So if you would classify yourself as an autumn or winter, as far as seasonal color analysis, you should love the selections currently coming into the stores. Three such deeply pigmented colors trending this fall are fire whirl red, root beer brown and adobe clay, as named by Pantone.
One of the things I’ve noticed about these and other trending colors is that they are colors we generally consider warm, but because they are so rich in hue, they read more like a neutral.
So even if you wouldn’t normally wear brown or a warm red, you might check these trending hues out. I’m not suggesting you move away from your set color palette and fill you closet with them. But, if you desire to incorporate a trending color into your wardrobe, you could always experiment with one or more of these rich colors in an accessory or singular piece, such as these double espresso demi boots pants.
These rayon, nylon and spandex pants come in regular and tall lengths. I’m wearing a regular 1 (8M) for a fit that slenderizes but is still comfortable. The inseam in the regular length is 31 inches, so I can wear a kitten heel or flat with them. To wear higher heels I would probably have needed to purchase the tall, which has a 34″ inseam.
I love the rich, deep hue of these double espresso demi boots pants and I think they’ll be versatile in my wardrobe this fall and winter. But they also come in other colors at Chico’s.
I think the spiced red (Chico’s rendition of fire whirl red) sweater-sleeve jacket is the show-stopper in this outfit. I showed it with black and white in this previous post. But it looks somehow warmer and even earthier with the double espresso demi boots pants. Don’t you think?
I’m wearing a Chico’s size 1 or 8/10 misses in the spiced red sweater-sleeve jacket. It’s available in sizes 00 to 22.
But while the spiced red sweater-sleeve jacket is a show stopper, it doesn’t walk away with it. Ha! The multi-colored paisley mockneck top pulls this trio of colors altogether beautifully. And because it’s sleeveless, the paisley mockneck top doesn’t add too much heat, just lots of visual interest. I’m wearing my true to size 1 (8/10M), and unfortunately this top is almost sold out. However, there is also a long sleeve, scoop neck version that is still well-stocked.
Because I didn’t have any dark brown shoes, I decided to complete the outfit with my Ally Kitten Heels in caramel leather (use code KAYHEELS for $40 off your first pair of heels). Here’s where the adobe clay comes into play. You may notice that you don’t actually see this exact color in my top, but the whirlwind of similar colors graciously invites this “family member” into the party.
And that led me to select my Coach tri-colored satchel as my final accessory. That satchel is marked down again, by the way. And I don’t expect it to last much longer. It’s easily one of my favorite bags ever.
I added a few splashes of gold in my accessories. Unfortunately neither of my bracelets are available any longer, but you’ll find more bold, beautiful options here. I also don’t spot my earrings on the website, but, looking them over, I actually like these multi colored earrings better. Wow! And right now jewelry (which is always great at Chico’s) is buy one get one 50% off.
I had wanted to build you a shopping widget and fill it with other options in these same trending colors for fall 2021. But something is wonky between Chico’s and my affiliate program and it’s not giving me any photographs to load in the widget. So I invite you to check out Chico’s new arrivals and see the full beautiful collection of these deeply pigmented hues.
Thanks so much for dropping in today for a little style inspiration. Let me know what you think about fire whirl red, adobe clay and root beer brown. Will you just admire these earthy shades on others? Or will you give one or more of them a spin?

Blessed for My Day
On my way to church yesterday I heard a profound statement on the radio. The speaker asserted that we are not made to live for ourselves, but to serve and be involved in the lives of others. He then shared that most every time in God’s Word when someone cries out to God for a deliverer or help, God sends that aid through a person. And often it’s a somewhat skeptical or even unwilling person who hesitantly obeys.
That made me think about the opportunities you and I have each and every day to be the answer to someone’s prayer. Whether they have prayed for help or encouragement, perspective or deliverance, we may be the vessel through which God wants to meet that person’s need. But what happens if we disobey the call? God is good and He will meet that person’s need somehow, someway. But we may miss the opportunity to be used by God. What a blessing we would forfeit.
“And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, well spoken of by all the Jews who lived there, came to me, and standing by me said to me, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight.’ And at that very hour I received my sight and saw him.” ~ Acts 22:12-13
Kay, you look beautiful and classic/modern chic in this outfit! Going to check out the mockneck! And as for the Creator of INFINITE galaxies using flawed humans to be a tool of blessing in His hands…. how overwhelming is that thought!?! This community is blessed to have a fashion blogger who is a Kingdom builder! Love love love it!
Amen
Kay, I shopped the Chico’s sale and purchased this top and a pair of ankle camel colored pants. I’m a shortie, so even short ankles fit like a regular pair of pants. Ha. Gotta watch those inseam measurements. I topped it with a black, slinky knit cardigan I’ve had for many, many years. I wore this outfit to church on Sunday and received so many compliments from both women and men! The top is very flattering. I also purchased a pair of NYDJ trousers at the Nordy Sale to wear with this top in the later fall and winter months. I just got them back from the Taylor’s (they needed hemmed as they didn’t have them in short). I can’t wait to wear this top again.
Thank you for posting the Coach handbag today! I have watched that purse since the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and have enjoyed seeing how you style it with various outfits on your website. I couldn’t resist purchasing it today while it was on sale! Thank you for showing women that they can be fashionable at every age!
Just bought a short cardigan in the adobe clay from Nordstrom Rack. Just waiting for cooler weather to start wearing.
I am a winter and can’t wear a lot of fall colors, although I am drawn to some of them. I especially like the brown pant, but, unfortunately at 5’1”, I need a petite or short. I have purchased many of Chico’s pants because they normally carry most of them in shorter length. Very disappointed, but I will be on the lookout for a brown dress pant with a small flare like these. I do have a pump in the same color as yours that I have neglected. Thank you for reminding me!
That is Fall colors on steroids. They will brighten up a place when you walk in. I’m not sure I have the personality to carry off that much color but I do admire those who do. If I picked a piece it would be those pants. A great color and I have this gold orphan sweater in my wardrobe.
Kay I love you in these colors. Such rich colors for fall and winter. The paisley top, I would’ve thought would’ve been out of your box, but looks really nice on you. I really like it. I am winter and I would wear these colors too. Gives you another choice other than black.
Your BFTD Does make you think, that God sometimes works through people
He blesses us so much.
I’m a fall so those colors are perfect for me. Love brown, orange, yellow and orange red. That outfit looked fantastic on you. I love Chico’s and Chico’s Off the Rack!
I was surprised how much I liked the outfit color theme. I don’t have brown in my wardrobe. You pulled all those pieces together and they work so well! I am not surprised at all. I think you do that all the time for us on the blog. Thanks for not only showing pictures but sharing how you went about it.
Kay you look great in those colors. I like the blouse. Thank you.
Kay, you look amazing in that outfit! Definitely love the colors! I also appreciated your comments at the end about us being the vessels God uses in other peoples’ lives. Loved that too! Thank you for sharing it!
Looking forward to switching out my summer/fall clothes. Just had a thought I want to share with you and your many followers…how about doing a blog piece on clothes that are made in the USA? So many businesses are trying to recover from quarantine….we need to support them!
Kay you looked so classic and chic. Love seeing the colors and styles you put together. So enjoy your blog.
I have been looking for dark brown pants for years and never found anything. I can’t wait to receive the ones you highlighted here.
