Happy October! Can you believe it? We had quite the warm week here in Cincinnati, so it doesn’t really feel like October. But I’m hoping for cooler days ahead. I’m out on the golf course this morning, but I first I wanted to share with you what I wore this past week. This is how I really dressed for my day!

Sizing Information
Just for reference, I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 155. I generally wear a size 8 or medium in dresses, tops, jackets and pants (or 29 or 30 in jeans), so that’s what I’m wearing in these looks unless I tell you otherwise. That way you can assume everything I show you is true to size unless I alert you to sizing up or down. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and, again, I’ll just let you know if I sized up or down in a shoe, otherwise it’s true to size.
Saturday’s Outfit
Last Saturday I worked most of the day. We shot some photos and I worked on some collaborations I’d contracted for. I wore this simple but modern henley tee and black jeans (similar). I do not know why some of my photos turn out like this. I need to spend some time learning the camera on my phone I suppose. Anyhow hopefully you can see that this henley tee has a very loose fit and is slightly cropped. I like it because I can wear it untucked but it still creates nice proportions.
I think one of the reasons I wore this combination was because I wanted to wear my gunmetal loafers. I am LOVING these loafers. They’re very comfortable but I also just love the metallic shade. Unfortunately they’re no longer available. But these leather cognac loafers are the same I think.

What I Wore Sunday
I decided to wear jeans to our more contemporary worship service on Sunday. We were going to Chili’s for lunch with friends afterwards. I had received this fun vest in the mail the day before and couldn’t wait to give it a try. I think it works nicely with a short sleeve t-shirt, but I’m really looking forward to wearing it with a turtleneck, long sleeve tee, chambray shirt or even a pretty blouse.
Maybe I’m wrong, but I really think this t-shirt and vest combo looked better in person than it does in this photo. The vest has a little more fullness at the bottom than at the top, so it’s nice and “swingy.” I don’t wear a lot of tunic length tops, but I like this one because of that fullness. I just think it’s a nice take on the current vest trend.
Anyhow I wore the vest over my Frame jeans, which are 40% off and still available. They’re pricey, but the discount is substantial. And I have to say, every time I see a photo like this of me wearing these jeans I’m pretty impressed. They feel and fit great and really create a nice silhouette. My mules are no longer available, but they do still have the similar leopard print mules. They’re marked down and you get another 30% off today. I’ve ordered those, too! If I wore those with this outfit, I’d probably carry a different bag, but I thought this reversible tote (back in stock) looked great with this outfit.
How I Dressed Monday
Monday I worked from home mostly, but I did get out to get some groceries. So I wore my Chico’s boyfriend jeans with a t-shirt and my utility jacket. I decided my white leather sneakers were a good option for running errands.
My particular Paul Green sneakers are no longer available, but they have similar sneakers at their website. Paul Green shoes are pricey, but they are my absolute favorite brand for a consistent combination of comfort and style. I recently got these Jake Boots in ivory and cannot wait to wear them when it’s cooler. Anyhow, I just wanted to let you ladies know that they’ve given me a discount code at Paul Green for my readers. Use code DRESSED15 and get 15% off your order only at Paul Green and only through October.
What I Wore Tuesday
Since I had been pulling clothes out of my cedar chest and switching out my wardrobe for the new season, I came across my Everlane Way-High jeans and decided to wear them Tuesday. This is the day I was actually switching out my wardrobe, and I just needed to be comfortable. I topped them with a Sadie + Jane t-shirt (use code KAYHARMS for 10% off your order).
I’m pretty sure I just added the belt and mules when I got out for a few minutes in the afternoon.
How I Dressed for My Day Wednesday
Wednesday I worked from home all day. But after feeling pretty casual the day before, I decided to put on my plaid pull on pants from Loft for a little more work appropriate look. Yeah, it’s just me here…working all by my lonesome. Ha! But I still like to wear something a little professional when I need to churn out the work.
My plaid pants are no longer available, but they do have these solid options. I just wore mine with a simple t-shirt, which has a nice twisted neckline. That t-shirt is marked down to a nice price and it’s a great tee.
Later in the day this great cashmere cardigan sweater arrived from Everlane and I was immediately impressed. Once I tried it on I didn’t want to take it off. Ha! I’m wearing my true to size medium and it fits nicely. I think you can definitely wear it by itself (or maybe just with a pretty camisole underneath) or as a cardigan over something else. The sweater comes in three other colors, too.
What I Wore Thursday
Thursday I got out for lunch with friends and then to run a lot of errands. I didn’t get home until evening. It probably got into the low 80s, but I felt comfortable in my Everlane Dream Pants, v-neck tee and cotton-merino sweater vest all day.
Since I knew I’d be doing a good bit of walking and it was pretty warm outside, I finished the outfit with my Everlane ReNew sport sandals. But I think black loafers or even white leather sneakers would look great here, too.
Thanks so much for dropping in today. I’m really rooting for cooler weather next week so I can wear some fall clothes! But hopefully you got a little style inspiration from these transitional styles. Have a great Friday!

Blessed for My Day
Some days are harder than others. That’s for sure. But one way we can turn things around on a difficult day is to choose to praise the Lord. Yes, some days we must bring a “sacrifice” of praise. That’s when praising the Lord is harder because our feelings aren’t in it. Choosing to praise God – to acknowledge who He is and how He works – is an honorable sacrifice on these hard days, and God rewards it.
So let’s choose to praise the Lord on this day. Whether you’re feeling it…or not. Whether you’re bringing a sacrifice of praise or it’s bubbling up from within easily, let’s choose to acknowledge God throughout this day. He is worthy. And He will value and reward such praises.
Praise the Lord!
Praise, O servants of the Lord,
praise the name of the Lord!
Blessed be the name of the Lord
from this time forth and forevermore!
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
the name of the Lord is to be praised!
Question on color of shoes. Bought a pair Franco Sarto lug loafers in the color of
patent cordovan. They are really comfy because I have them from last year in black. I am just struggling with what to wear them with other than blue jeans. Black jeans? Blue pants? I am really loving the loafer trend. They are a substantial shoe for walking and standing. Ballet flats have no support. Thanks for your blog. I love the gunmetal loafers. Missed out on them.
Hi Cyndi. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the blog. I think you’re cordovan loafers can be very versatile. Yes, you can wear them with most anything. If you wear them with black jeans or pants I’d just make sure to try to add a touch of the same or similar shade of leather elsewhere in the outfit. Like in a belt or handbag or watch strap. So that really might be the key to enjoying those loafers. Just look for a handbag or belt in a close shade. I think you’ll see then that they work with most anything.
I hope that you had a great day on the golf course! I really like the twisted neckline tee from Evereve and would like it in the bright Orange, but it’s not available now. Since it is marked down to a great price, I am going to request to be notified when it is available. What an awesome BFMD!
I like the vest look and gunmetal shoes and the rooster tee. Every year I pull out my boots I think how tender my feet got over the summer. And winter clothes. I feel confined. But after a month it feels normal again. Although I’m small framed I will wear chunky sweaters so there is that.
I know exactly what you mean Eve. Every time I even try on a sweater it feel foreign and a little suffocating. But I know by the middle of winter it will feel quite normal to layer on the warmth! 😉
Kay, I never understood the a “sacrifice of praise” as to praise Him hen e didn’t “feel it” that day. I realize e are to alays praise the Lord in all circumstances. e are to praise Him!! Amen!! I thought that ho e live. Calling on Him throughout the day!! Seeking Him in all things!! Should e do something NOT because it’s alright but because it ill glorify Him!! Just my understanding. But no I see a different point of vie!!
I cannot believe that vest is from Talbots! I love this look on you! I may need to get one!
How late into the season can I wear my open toe chunky brown leather sandals ? Also are panty hose unfashionable anymore?😫
I stop wearing sandals when temps dip into the 60’s, but I live in Texas! Usually I am starting to wear loafers in October and boots ( which I adore) on cooler days
Kay, I love, love the blue vest from Everlane. I tried to buy it the first time you shared it with us. I just looked again, mostly sold out. If you notice a restock, let us know I’m sure I’m not the only one who wants it .
THANKS,
Joan
Kay, I must tell you how well you look in your clothes. So enjoying your blog. I do get very good ideas from what outfits you put together. Keep up the great work….
