Hello dear readers. I’m so glad you dropped in today. I hope your Friday is off to a great start and that it’s filled with good things…maybe ice cream or pizza or flowers from a loved one or something fun in the mail. What’s got me so cheerful? To be honest, it’s this embroidered denim skirt and bright orange top I’m sharing with you today. I’m styling Reba today!
Do you wear a lot of Reba? You know, Reba McIntyre? The country singer and television star. And entrepreneur. I’ve owned a few Reba pieces before. I even have Reba luggage. Ha! But I think these are my favorites. Some of her clothes have a little too much bling for me, to tell you the truth. I’m not really a fringe and rhinestone and glitter kind of gal, although I’ve bought a few of those pieces, too. But then I don’t wear them much because they just don’t feel right to me.
But this cheerfully embroidered denim skirt feels right somehow. I love the colors. Now I don’t wear a lot of yellow or orange, but I do enjoy adding a little orange to my wardrobe now and then. And I think I’m more comfortable with embroidery than rhinestones! Also, I think the placement and pattern of this embroidery is visually slimming.
I realize some of my fellow Georgia Bulldogs will have a problem with this orange lace-up top. They may have stopped reading when they saw the orange shirt, in fact! Ha! I know. Most of them just live too close to all those Auburn and Florida and Tennessee fans to wear orange. I get it. But out here in Arizona I can get away with it. And I’ve just always loved orange…as long as it’s not on the football field!
Actually this lace-up shirt also comes in a pretty yellow. I like that it has a nice tailored fit. I’m wearing a small top and a size 8 skirt.
I do like the little bit of fringe on the hemline of this skirt. And I think the rear pockets are a nice size and well placed.
Isn’t this Coach yellow floral print tote great? Especially if you wear these warm colors a lot, this would be a fun bag to add into the mix.
I’m wearing the Madewell Devon Mules from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Remember, the last day for sale prices is Sunday, August 5th. And last I checked, these mules are still available in 7.5 and 8.5. And there’s always the chance of returns, so if you like them, keep checking. These are keepers for me. I think they’re great transitional shoes.
However, these Lucky Brand wedge sandals are also darling, and they’re on major sale. They’re also available in more sizes.
Since there’s a little more bling in this ensemble than I normally wear – the studs on the shirt shoulder, the embroidery on the skirt and the fringe on the hemline – I kept the jewelry simple, but big enough to balance the look. I’m wearing the earrings I got in my last Rocksbox set and a bracelet that was in one of my previous boxes. If you’d like to subscribe and get a free month, use my code: KAYHBFF4.
I think a denim skirt is a great transitional piece to have in your closet. This particular Reba skirt will look great with a longer sleeved top – like a henley or even just a good white button up shirt later on in cooler temps, too.
And if the embroidery isn’t really your thing…or you’re a Georgia Bulldog who doesn’t wear orange…Reba also has this denim skirt which has the frayed edge hem but is plain otherwise and this denim skirt in a darker wash.

Blessed for My Day
Are you tired, weary? Maybe you’re physically exhausted from fighting an illness, working in the yard or wrangling grandkids all week. Maybe your mind is tired from work and hard conversations and sorting through problems. Or maybe you are emotionally spent, either from great grief or great rejoicing. My prayer for you today as the weekend draws upon us is simply that you would find rest. May your strength be restored and your emotions be calmed and your mind get a reprieve. In fact, why not pause right now, take a few deep breaths, and just tell Jesus that you’re tired? Close your eyes and ask Him to give you energy for this day and some rest over the weekend. Ask Him to take the burdens that have weighed you down, and draw close to Him because His yoke is easy.
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.β ~ Matthew 11:28-30
