When I was home in Georgia last weekend, one of the highlights of my visit was time with my mom and Aunt Ida, Mom’s younger sister. Among other things they wanted me to get my mom’s phone out and show them how to shop from my blog posts. Like many of my other faithful readers, they’ve been mostly using my blog posts as inspiration and then heading to the brick and mortar stores to make their purchases. But they wanted to support my business by shopping my links and they know that quite often (even before this unusual past year), the physical stores do not carry all the merchandise they have available. So I think I got them squared away. Ha! But today I want to give a similar little “lesson” on how to shop my looks and my gift guides through the LTK Shop. “What’s that?” I’m so glad you asked!
The LTK app is the ultimate shopping destination that lets people shop millions of products across fashion, home, beauty, kids and more —all masterfully curated by LTK Creators like me. The stores and brands I link to here at my blog and on my YouTube channel are part of the LTK affiliate program because they want me and other influencers to introduce you to their styles and products in a friendly and non-evasive way, very organically and with our own personal spin on why we love and use them.
You absolutely can continue to shop through my website and the description box of my YouTube videos (have you found that description box yet???). Here, you can shop through the red highlighted words and photo captions, as well as the shopping widgets I provide at the end of most posts.
But…
I can provide links to a lot more products through the LTK app or website than I can here. I’m able to posts outfits of the day, collages of outfit ideas, gift guides and in-real-time shopping spree photos with shoppable links more quickly in my LTK shop than I can here at the blog.
I’ve not been great about it in the past because I just didn’t have the woman-power to get it all done. But my assistant (and daughter!) Abigail and I are meeting this afternoon to strategize how we can get more shoppable images up on LTK each day for your convenience. So from here on out you can expect at least three shoppable images a day! At LTK, that is.
So…
Let’s learn how you can shop my LTK Shop.
You can shop my LTK Shop on your computer or device HERE online. This is what it will look like on a computer screen or laptop. You will see my photo, my shop name – DressedforMyDay, a brief description of me, and then a lot of clickable images you can shop.
If you click on one of those images, the screen will populate with all the items I’m showing in that image and/or similar products. You can click on those images and you will go directly (and safely) to the retailer’s website, where you can shop for that item or anything else you want to while you’re there. If you shop through my LTK shop in this way I will receive a commission on any purchases you make while you’re at that retailer’s website.
But you can also shop my LTK Shop through the app on your phone or handheld device. You’ll want to go to the Apple store or Google Play store to download the LTK app for your device. It’s simple, free and completely safe.
Once you’ve downloaded the app and signed up for an account (again, simple, safe and free!), you can search for my store in the search engine. It’s DressedforMyDay, all one word. But if you put it in as separate words it will probably still pop up. Be sure to select Follow to stay connected with me and receive alerts (if you wish) each time I upload new shoppable images.
You use the app the same way you do the website, but it makes shopping my looks so convenient. I’m going to try to upload every single look I post here on the blog and on my YouTube channel. So if you’re out and about and remember you want to order those great brown boots you saw me wearing to go with a particular jacket you’re buying, you can do so easily. All of my looks will be there in one central place, easy for you to access.
PLUS, you can favorite my looks that you especially want to shop later. And when you do favorite them 🖤, you’ll even receive an email so you’ll have that look in your emails if you want it there.
And you can favorite 🖤certain items in the look. When you favorite 🖤 an item, you’ll receive a notice if that item later goes on sale. Score!
You can also send a link to my looks or shoppable images to a friend or family member. Maybe you want to ask your daughter what she thinks about the blue dress I wore to my nephew’s wedding. You click on the share button at the bottom of the image. See below.
See that little “up arrow” at the right hand base of the image above? That’s the button you’d click to share the look. Then you’ll have several options open to you. See below for two choice you might want to make. You might want to send a text to your daughter including the link to my LTK look.
So you’d click on the green text image, as shown above. Here’s what you’ll see next.
The app creates the text message for you, including the link to my image. All you have to do is choose a recipient from your phone and write in any message you want to include, such as, “What do you think of this dress for Sam’s wedding?” Send the text and your daughter will get a link to my image. She’ll know what to do from there. *wink*
Or you could send the link in an email to a friend.
Select the “link” image in red. The one that looks like a link. A message will show that you have indeed copied the link to your device. See below.
Now you can go straight to your email app and write an email to someone. When you’re ready to include the link to my look, just paste in the copied link to the email.
But let’s look some more at what happens in my LTK Shop. When you’re browsing one of my looks, you’ll see all the items I’ve included in my look and a few additional options. Like I said, you can shop or favorite 🖤 them for later.
Then as you scroll further down, you’ll see more of my looks and gift guides that you can shop.
A new feature to the LTK app is that Gift Guides will now appear at the top of my Shop through the holidays. So when you’re ready to shop for each person on your list, you’ll be able to access my Gift Guides easily and quickly.
Tip: I’ll be providing more Gift Guides in the LTK Shop than I will here at the website. I’ll have lots here, too. But I can provide more in the LTK app, quickly and easily.
Sometimes I share outfits or shopping pictures on Instagram that I don’t share here at the blog. I’ll be providing all the shopping links to those images in my LTK Shop. You can move easily between the Instagram app and the LTK app through the link in my profile on Instagram. Just go to my Instagram profile (or home page) by clicking on my handle or image. It should take you here…
Click on the link that I circled above. That’s my “link in my profile.” It’s a “smart link,” so when you click on it, a list of other links will open to you. Then you’ll want to click on Shop “my LTK Shop.” That will take you to the LTK app, if you’ve downloaded it, or the LTK Shop online if you haven’t.
You can also use the search feature when you’re in the LTK app to look for particular types of items in my shop, such as boots or sweaters or gifts. And you can use the search engine to explore what other influencers have to offer in those areas, too.
The LTK app is a great way to shop my looks and finds, but it’s also a good way to discover other influencers you might like to follow. The more the merrier!
I’ll be honest, I haven’t used the LTK app or shop much until recently because I didn’t feel like it was very intuitive. And, not to be condescending at all, but if there’s one thing I know about my demographic it’s that we like for our technology to be easy to navigate…or we’re out! That goes for me, too. I don’t want to have to get frustrated with tech stuff while I’m shopping. Ugh!
But I think they’ve made a lot of improvements to the LTK app (it used to be called the LiketoKnowIt app. That alone is confusing!). The favorites feature, the gift guide section and so many other features make it worth it for me to help you use this app now. I’m game, so I hope you are, too.
Now, like I said. Nothing has changed here at the blog or on YouTube. All I’m doing is providing more opportunities for you to easily shop my links. So if this just isn’t your bag, don’t fret! But thanks so much for giving it a thought. Happy shopping!
I invite you to check out my LTK Shop HERE. Watch for me to load new looks and finds each day, several times a day.
Don’t Miss a Post:
If you like what you’re seeing here at Dressed for My Day, I invite you to subscribe to my email list. You can receive an email each time I post (about 6 times weekly) or just on Saturdays. You choose! But you’ll also receive the password to open up all the subscriber freebies I offer.
Blessed for My Day
One day several years ago I was having a very hard time waiting for God to work in a particular situation in my life. I desperately wanted to take things into my own hands. As I drove home from Bible study one Wednesday around noon, I remember asking God if I could please just make a phone call to move things along. At that very moment I looked up and saw a yellow Volkswagon bug pull in front of me with the words of Psalm 27:14 scrawled across the back of it in black script. I kid you not. I had just enough time to read the familiar verse before the car pulled off the road and into a store parking lot. I never saw that car in my little town again.
I wish so badly that God would write His words on cars for me more often. Hahaha! But I’ve never had another experience quite like that one. But one thing I do know, that exhortation to wait for the Lord is scrawled permanently across the pages of the Bible…more than once. And we are wise to heed the encouragement and wait on the One who is always working on our behalf. Wait, dear sister. He is at work. Don’t get in His way. Wait.
Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord. ~ Psalm 27:14
Kay, Thanks for the detailed explanation. I got the App and will try using it more.
Thanks so much Martine. That’s wonderful!
I didn’t know this app existed but I have it now. Thanks for the detailed instructions. I will definitely check it out!
Wonderful! I’m going to try to make it a priority to load it daily. Fingers crossed!
Thanks so much for the details on how to use the LTK app. That’s really helpful…I’d love a post on how to use the description box on you tube…and where to find it (lol-I’m in your demographic and am not tech savvy at all!!!) Also, thanks for the “Blessed for my day” words of encouragement. My husband and I are in a “time of waiting” for a particular situation and your words just spoke to my heart! I wrote out Psalm 27:14 on a post it note and have it on my counter to meditate on throughout the day(s) as we wait on the Lord. You’re always an encouragement to me and I thank you for including God’s Word in your posts!
Ahh, thanks so much for sharing Kristen. I’m glad that blessing was meaningful to you. Look for that Description Box again. On your phone, click on the little down arrow. On a computer click on see more.
All I want is to unsubscribe from your email. I am so tired of scrolling through endless ads……. Cannot find an unsubscribe link anywhere.
I will catch you on YouTube when I have time.
You can unsubscribe at the bottom of your email. The ads pay my bills. I’m sorry you’re not enjoying your experience here. But this blog and YouTube channel are our sole source of income. I have to run it like a business, so I make no apologies for the ads. I try to make sure I provide you plenty of value, but we have to pay the bills.
Wow Kay! The answer to your prayers On the back of a yellow Volkswagen bug. In the form of psalms 27:14. God does answer our prayers, we just have to wait on him.
Thank you for all the details on the new app. Now I just have to get it and try to use it. I really like using my laptop though, It is easier than using my smart phone. Easier to navigate but I might give it a try.
I know! Isn’t that crazy! I got the message loud and clear that day. But other days I’ve definitely gotten ahead of the Lord. It’s a constant trial! But I’m learning to be patient as He works.
I do like to learn new things but that would be a new recipe or a new craft, not tech but I believe I can do this. I love seeing all these things I need to complete the look right there in one place.
I was thinking about waiting on God just yesterday when I got a notice telling me a package I ordered two weeks ago from Amazon was on its way today. I was just about to ask for a refund. So glad I waited. If you jump the gun instead of waiting, you could end up having to redo the mess you make. Patience is a virtue.
Ahh yes, shipping and supply channels are really having problems right now. I’m trying to be patient as much as possible and not cancel orders, although I did have to cancel a couple. I know retailers are really struggling right now and in the end it will affect us all.
Life is difficult. It is amazing when God speaks so directly to us. Your words come at a perfect time. There is a quote from Elyse Fitzpatrick that is also encouraging to me.
“Your enemy and your faithless heart are lying to you when they tell you that your circumstances will never change. An endless day of joy is coming and nothing can avert its dawning.”
Heaven awaits.
Oh that’s good. Thanks so much for sharing.
Kay, this is so awesome! I have been flipping back and forth between your
Blog, YouTube channel and Pinterest to shop. This is soooooo much easier. And you get my sales! Perfect answer! You and your daughter are rocking it! Thank-you! Blessings!!!
Woohoo! I’m so glad this resonated with you. I’ll try to keep all of my looks in it. I want it to be a good resource for you all.
Kay, you are my yellow Volkswagen bug today! My husband and I are in a season of waiting that feels like it is never ending. I had a really rough day today trying to wait on God and his perfect plan; then I read your post and was completely amazed at God’s message to me delivered through you. Thank you for your sweet spirit, your words of wisdom, and your fun fashion knowledge. I look forward to your posts each day. Thanks for the LTK info as well. You cleared up so many questions I’ve had about that.
Great to hear…on both counts. Thanks so much for letting me know Allison. I pray you see God move soon. 🥰
Hi Kay, thank you for the detailed explanation about Like to Know it. This is so helpful. Prayers and blessings to you and your family.
