Well, hello Wednesday! We do not usually meet up here on Wednesdays, do we? But I have my Mohs surgery on my forehead this morning and needed to align my week a little differently than normal. I hope that’s okay with you, dear reader. Fortunately for me, James and I snapped a lot of photos of some great outfits last week. The weather was perfect! So today I’m sharing another fall sweater outfit, this time with cropped length jeans.
My Modern Ankle Jeans are about a year old, but Talbots still has them. They also come in a Plus Size Curvy fit. I wanted to style these for you today because, of course, cropped or ankle jeans are very in this year. And, if you’d like, you absolutely can continue to wear them into the fall. Of course, that will depend on your preferences and the climate where you live. I have another blog post coming that will share some tips for wearing these same jeans into the colder months. But for now I think this bare ankle look is great for fall…for most of us.
I know that some of my readers still don’t prefer the ankle length jeans at all. That’s okay. There are options for all of us! That’s the beauty of fashion: it’s individual and there’s plenty of room for creativity and personality. But today’s post is for those of you who do indeed have or want ankle jeans in your closet, and you want to know how to wear them into the fall months.
Bottom line? You want to look purposeful in them. So choose to either have some ankle showing – and bare those ankles with a shorter bootie like the one I’m showing here – or purpose to conceal those ankles by wearing a boot with a higher, slender shaft that will fit under the ankle jeans. I’ll show you that in a future post. What you don’t want to do is wear a boot or bootie that hits right at the hemline, thus causing the edge of the jeans to flip and flop back and forth over the edge of the bootie. Make sense?
Another key to wearing ankle or cropped jeans into the fall is to either tuck or front tuck your sweater or top or to wear a top that is cropped so that it ends at the desirable place on your frame. Remember, a cropped top is not what it used to be! We’re not talking about a top that shows your midriff, but one that sits just below the waistline of your pants achieving those desirable proportions for your body.
At any rate, tucking your top or wearing a shorter one will help you create a longer line with your jeans. And that’s important since these are inherently short pants.
I find it also works best to wear a top in the same intensity as your jeans for a longer, more cohesive look. Otherwise, those shorter pants are going to look even shorter. And your outfit will look more chopped up. I also wore a belt in the same intensity as my dark wash jeans and dark purple cashmere sweater.
We’ve talked a lot lately about contrast in intensity, but you can see that minimizing it is crucial in this outfit with cropped length jeans.
Since I kept the rest of my outfit pretty dark, I chose to add a pop of light and interest in my handbag. But since it is trimmed in black, like my boots and belt, I think this leopard print crossbody works really well here.
Finally, I topped my outfit with my black quilted coat. I’m LOVING the whole quilted coat and jacket trend. Yes, we’ve been seeing quilted vests for a while. But this year I’m seeing quilted coats and jackets EVERYWHERE. I think they look so rich and classic and sporty. This long quilted coat from Talbots also comes in navy and spice. Watch for a sale! Last night they had a 30% off sitewide flash sale. We’ll see what today holds!
I really put this outfit together because I felt like I needed to address the cropped jeans situation for fall. But in the end, I was beyond pleased with how it came together. Especially if you live in a climate where it’s just cool in the fall, this kind of outfit could look oh so modern. Wear it with confidence! I’d definitely wear this outfit to lunch with friends, shopping or to a club meeting. So fun and fresh!

Thank you so much for dropping in today. I hope you have a wonderful day! If you think of it, say a little prayer for me. I know many of you have had these Mohs surgeries, and they’re supposed to be fairly easy to bear. But still… I just need grace to get through it! Thank you, dear friend!
Blessed for My Day
I’m not actually sick. Well, I guess I do have a sickly patch of skin. Some basal cell. Bleh. But I would definitely love for you to pray for me today. Please pray that the procedure goes smoothly and the pain is minimal. I’m a weanie when it comes to pain.
And if I can ever pray for you, dear sister, please let me know. We have to ask. God tells us to ask for others to pray for us. I think that is a way of reminding ourselves that we are all in need. “It’s me, it’s me, it’s me, O Lord, standing in the need of prayer.”
Is anyone among you sick?Β ThenΒ he must call forΒ the elders of the church and they are to pray over him,Β anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;Β and theΒ prayer of faith willΒ restore the one who is sick, and the Lord willΒ raise him up… ~ James 5:14-16
Heavenly Father, please put your arms around Kay & give her strength to go through this medical procedure. Please Lord keep the pain to a minimum & heal her from any illness in her body. I ask in Jesus name Amen
Amen. Your prayer is beautiful & complete, Holly. Be well, our sweet & inspiring Kay.
Thank you Holly. π

Kay Iβve had two Mohs surgeries. I was scared to but it actually was easy. Prayers going up.
Praying all goes well for you. I had MOHS on my nose this summer….no pain (stopped at Marshall’s on way home), no trace of scarring.
..
Oh that is so good to hear! Thanks Mary.
Good luck! I had Mohs on my eye last February. I was nervous too. Went great. Stitches out after a few days. Now un noticeable…. 6 month check up went perfect.
Hoping that the surgery went well! What a great outfit, love the colour of the sweater. You look so cool π
Praying for you now sweet Kay…may the Lord guide the surgeons hands and overwhelm your heart with peace through the procedure.
Sending a prayer for your successful and painless surgery today. Be well Kay!
Dear sweet Kay
May Jesus put his loving arms around you and heal you.
Praying for a successful surgery Kay and a speedy recovery! Your beauty and grace shine through everything you say and do! May God Bless you!!!

I did the same procedure yesterday, I wish you well and pray that you bounce through just as easily as I have. Feeling just fine today. Loving this emphasis on intensity. I am learning so much.y question is about the colours I am wearing today. I am wearing chocolate brown pants and a medium shade of blue, it is very saturated but not dark. Am I getting my intensity mixed up does it need to be dark blue?
Hi Catherine. Thanks so much for sharing. First take done. Waiting on the results to see if sheβll do more. I think saturation and intensity are related and very similar. So yeah, if itβs a deeply saturated medium blue that could do the trick. Doesnβt have to be a dark color per se. Iβm sure you look great!
Good morning, Kay! I prayed that God will be with you today as you have Mohs surgery. Have a blessed day!
(I enjoyed your post. Great as always!) π
Lord, grant peace to my dear sister as she walks through this surgery. May you guide the hands of the surgeon and may the entire room be filled with the presence of your Holy Spirit.
These Jeans!!β¦β¦β¦such a classic look and love these booties, the leather looks so soft.
All the best and praying for you this morning Kayππ»π
Blessings,
In Jesusβs name please Use the surgeons hands to do the procedure for Kay today.
May it be a painless quick procedure and
The Lord heal her quickly. Will be thinking of you Kay. Bless you.
I love your outfit. Like the quilted jacket over it. Another look. I bought a long Reversible one last year but itβs really long. I would like the shorter one.
Thinking of you today Kay!
Kay, I had Mohs surgery for skin cancer on my forehead a couple of years ago. It went well and wasnβt painful. The scar is almost nonexistent. Praying for you!
Prayers for you my Sweet Friend. I pray everything goes well with no problems or pain. The Lord be with you!! Love. Lindaπ§‘
Kay
Here in SW Michigan, it’s currently 30 degrees so the crop pant will need the higher boot (with socks) here today. Love the entire outfit.
My dear friend had the same procedure. She wore a tiny band-aid on it afterward and later used a scar lotion/oil to help. I’m sure your doctor will tell you what’s best.
Thoughts and prayers are being sent your way!
Yeah, itβs in the high 20s here today. I think we skipped fall and went straight to winter! No exposed ankles for me today! π
Hi Kay, I had MOHL surgery in the inside of my ear last December. I was shocked when my dermatologist found it during my yearly exam. I too am a wimp as my tolerance for pain is extremely low. The surgeon was fantastic as well as his nurse and everything turned out good. Now I go every 6 months to be checked out. I am and always have been a stickler for going for all my checkups each year. So happy I do as the outcome could have been not good if it wasnβt detected. Keeping you in my prayer π.
Dear Heavenly Father, I ask that you give the doctors skill and wisdom as they remove all the unwanted cells. I pray that Kay would feel no pain and that there would be no infection or issues from this procedure. I ask that your Holy Spirit comfort both Kay and James. Father I ask that you give Kay your peace and allow her to fully rest afterwards. Thank you Lord for taking good care of your daughter Kay!
I hope everything will be allright with the Help of our Lord Jesuschrist.Do not worry, Kay.My mom had this procedure on her forehead some years ago and everything went perfect!her scarf is barely visible. My mom is blonde, with a fair complexion and green eyes ,like you.She was strongly advised to use sunscreen all year round even in autumn and winter.Doctors said that sunrays during these seasons are even more dangerous for people with a fair complexion and light coloured eyes like you and my mom.But be confident,it’ll be for good!πβ¨ππ
I meant scar!!!ππ
Dear Lord, please guard Kay like the apple of Your eye. Protect her under the shadow of Your wing. (psalm 17:8)
Praying for successful surgery today with minimal pain. <3
You are in my prayers, Kay. I pray for peace, successful surgery, and no pain for you. The Lord will hold your hand. Isaiah 41:13

Will be thinking of you all day.
Prayers said for your complete recovery.
Hope everything goes ok with your surgery today? Please, take care of you! I love this color combo, so beautiful! Thanks for the inspiration.π
Such beautiful prayers for Kay. I Amen them all. You are well prayed for so go seize the day! Youβre a warrior.
I love my new light weight quilted jacket. I wish I had bought black instead of white though. Eggplant looks so right with that color of jean. Thereβs a tip just thrown in there. A pop of light. I needed to know that. I know pop of color.
God Bless you and keep you safe Kay .
Prayers and blessings are with you today and always .
Love receiving your daily posts .
Prayers sent your way Kay. Your blogs are like a ray of sunshine to my days. I look forward to them every morning. Best wishes for fast healing.
Kay, I did not get to read this post this morning, but I want you to know that I pray for you every night. I do hope that the MOHS surgery went well and that you donβt have to go back. I had to have a cyst cut out of my left breast today. The surgery was not painful, but boy the pain is hitting hard now, even though Iβve taken a pain pill. Your prayers for the pain to not keep me awake tonight will be appreciated. I absolutely love the sweater you have on in this post. It is beautiful on you! I am one of those that will wear cropped jeans throughout the winter.
Prayers for a speedy recovery & a very restful night πππ
Praying for the pain to diminish Ginger. My procedure went well. I have some pain tonight too. But probably not as much as you do. Bless you.
Hoping all went well today Kay & keeping you in my prayers πππ
Prayers for you both, Kay and Ginger. May the Lord bring rest to you tonight, and heal you quickly. βAnd if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of[b] his Spirit who lives in you.β Romans 8:11
Prayers for your healing being sent your way.π
Thank you Donna. Iβm doing well. π
