As we approach Thanksgiving I’m getting very excited for the holidays. What about you? I already have a couple of fun, festive events on the calendar, so I’m thinking of what I’ll be wearing, too. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite holiday fashions and accessories in some of your favorite stores. Many of these items are already on sale!

It really doesn’t take much to get party ready. But I do think it requires having at least a few fun, sparkly or colorful pieces in our wardrobe that we can mix into our most basic outfits. Be sure to check out my most recent YouTube video for tips on creating great holiday outfits from your closet.
In that video I included about a dozen different fun and festive outfits. But I’ve got a few more below created from some of the pieces I’m included in my favorites list here.
What to Wear to an Ornament Exchange
I’m getting together with the women in my church fellowship for dinner and an ornament exchange in a few weeks. We’ll be casual, but I want to look a little festive. I think this outfit would work perfectly!
What to Wear to a Christmas Light Show
Friday after Thanksgiving, James and I are going to the Lumaze Christmas Light Festival here in Cincinnati. It’s a “family-friendly indoor Christmas light festival featuring towering light gardens, glowing activities, delicious treats, and live entertainment… All under the twinkle of a million lights.” That looks fun! We plan to get dinner afterwards. I think something casual but festive is in order for that outing, too.
What to Wear Out to Dinner with Friends
We also have a big, casual dinner out with friends on our calendar. We’re simply all meeting up at a hamburger joint here in Cincinnati. Again, we’ll be casual, but I’ll want to wear something merry and bright…just for the fun of it!
I have a few more events and outings to attend this holiday season. Maybe I’ll share more outfit inspiration like this again in the near future. Let me know if you like this kind of post.
I have lots more holiday fashions and accessories to share with you below. Click through for pricing because sales have started and they don’t always show up in these widgets.
Here’s one set of my favorites. These are from Talbots, J.Jill and Brighton. I’m especially a sucker for a pretty Christmas pin. So I love this JOY pin and the Cardinal pin. I bought the similar JOY pin last year and it sold out fast.
This next selection is from J.Crew, J.Crew Factory, Ann Taylor, Nordstrom and Macy’s. I may have a few other retailers represented here, too.
Thanks so much for stopping in for a little style inspiration. Have a great day!

Blessed for My Day
Each day we have a choice about where our minds will dwell. Where we set our mind, there go our emotions, too. I know it sometimes feels like our emotions lead us. But indeed we can change our emotions by refocusing our thoughts.
Today let’s choose to dwell on the character of God and the truthfulness of His Word rather than being led down a bad path by thinking on the uncertainty of our circumstances or the lies of this world. And even while our emotions may seem big and real and weighty, they are not always based on fact. So let’s call them out for what they are and replace any faulty thinking with right thinking.
Let the peace of Christ, to which you were indeed called in one body, rule in your hearts; and be thankful. ~ Colossians 3:15
Very cute ideas for the holiday outings and just being in the house with family and friends also.
I too started decorating early for Christmas this year. My son and family are coming for Thanksgiving tomorrow in fact and stay a few days. So I thought it would be neat to decorate for Christmas a little though I didn’t put the tree up yet. They will spend Christmas in Colorado where they live with the rest of their family.
Should be a fun time!
Loved the BFMD. Was cold this morning in Minnesota. 16 degrees Brrrrrrr
Have a great day!
Wonderful. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Sherry. Thank you for sharing your plans with us. Sounds lovely.
Kay, I really enjoyed this post. The recommendations all were great. It sounds like your holiday celebration calendar is filling up! I especially liked the Blessed For My Day post. It’s something I needed to hear. Thank you!
Thanks for reading, Maryann. I’m glad you enjoyed the post. My parents are coming in for a visit in less than two weeks, too. So I’m really looking forward to that. Then our daughter will come to celebrate Christmas with us. Thanks for dropping in!
Oh Kay, you did the spirits of Christmas past, present and future proud with this post! 🎄Talk about building that Christmas capsule wardrobe ! The BFMD was so appropriate for my life right now. Thank you for reminding us about proper thinking. Thank you also for all of the hard work you put into your blog. Your readers notice and appreciate you.
Hi Patt, I’m so glad that spoke to you in a meaningful way. It definitely was a lesson I needed to be reminded of this morning. I appreciate you and all those who visit here!
Thank you for your BFMD. It was timely. People can be so difficult and it can throw me in a tailspin. I need to keep focused knowing that Jesus will make everything right in the end.
I’m glad that was meaningful to you, Karin. It was something I needed to remind myself of this morning. Bless you!
Kay, Yes!! What you think, your feet will follow!! Now, what we think, our emotions will follow!! So, so true!!
Thankyou Kay for all your wonderful posts. I look forward to them every day! You are such an inspiration.
In November when it gets dark so early, it helps to put the tree and decorations up as all the twinkling lights make everyone so happy!
Thanks for sharing, Natalie. It’s definitely a challenge!
