Hello, dear reader. I have some pretty photos to share with you today. Just when we thought fall had ended and the colors had subsided, we found a grove of beautiful golden yellow and amber trees to serve as the backdrop for my winter outfit. I’m introducing a new-to-me brand today, too. Say hello to Canadian brand, Dongli Cashmere.

I know I have a large number of readers who live in Canada, so I was thrilled when this Canada-based brand reached out to me and offered to send me one of their cashmere sweaters. Named after the brief moment before sunrise (Dong Lí) that signals the start of the day for nomadic herders in Inner Mongolia, Dongli is headquartered in Canada, where they also design their garments. But Dongli owns, raises and combs their own goats in Mongolia to produce their fine cashmere fibers from the underbellies of the herd. They also knit their sweaters in-house, keeping this operation tight, sustainable and eco-friendly.

I’m very impressed with the silky smooth texture of this pink cable knit sweater. Because of the pattern, it’s just slightly sheer, so I wore my flesh toned camisole underneath. But the cashmere fabric is substantial and exquisitely knit. I also love this soft pink, but it’s available in a stunning red, too. (By the way, I wear hue 160 in those great camisoles. I wear one almost every day.) I’ve actually already worn this sweater several times now, and it’s holding up to wear beautifully.

Be sure to check out Dongli for their other beautifully crafted cashmere products. I browsed through trying to pick one or two favorites to recommend, but my list kept growing. Ha! I do love their cashmere wraps, these lovely hats, this ribbed turtleneck sweater and this baby cashmere cable turtleneck. I could name more!

And Dongli has graciously given my community a code for 15% savings. Use code Kay15 for 15% off your order. However, it looks like right now (just through November 26) you can use code FRIDAY20 for even more savings.

One more thing before I move on. I’m wearing a size medium in this cable knit sweater. So I’d say they probably all fit true to size. But definitely check out the size charts they have on their website. For a more relaxed fit, I might could have sized up to a large in this sweater. Dongli provides washing instructions for your cashmere purchase here. And they share more about caring for your cashmere garments and accessories here.

I just wore my cashmere cable knit sweater with my favorite straight leg jeans (I cut them off to size) and my favorite Chelsea booties. Those booties are my favorites because they were comfortable right out of the box and I love the very pared back, classic look of them. The cognac is almost sold out, but they have more in black. I have both! They run true to size.

It was actually unseasonably warm the day we snapped these photos. But the next day it was right back to cold. I’m really enjoying my Barbour Shaw hooded puffer jacket. It’s soooo soft! But still warm, too. This packable jacket has a removable hood and a slightly tapered silhouette. I bought it in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but now it’s at Nordstrom Rack and 40% off. Mine is in latte, but it also comes in a snazzy navy.

I finished the look with some jewerly from Kendra Scott. Remember, everything is 30% off right now at Kendra Scott. (Fine jewelry, sterling silver and men’s collection are 25% off.) My Davis multistrand necklace (I’m only wearing one part of it) is no longer available in this particular color, but they do have it in other stone colors. I’m also wearing my Veronica hoops. These are undoubtedly my most often worn earrings. Lightweight and perfect!

I topped the look with my cashmere plaid scarf. I love this color combination, but they have others to choose from, too. My scarf, boots and other winter accessories are 30% off right now. But if you have and use a Talbots credit card right now, you can get 50% off one item and 40% off the rest of your purchase.

Thank you so much for stopping in today. Let me know if you have any questions about anything I’ve shared here. I love this outfit and everything I’m showing. These are all items that I’m wearing on repeat.

Have a great day!

Blessed for My Day

When my husband shared that love was the topic of his sermon Sunday, he asserted that he was extremely qualified to talk about it because he’d watched no fewer than half a dozen Hallmark Christmas movies recently. Ha! Of course, he was kidding. He even assured us that Hallmark’s definition of love was not the same as the Bible’s definition. James went on to define love as “choosing to commit to putting another’s needs before your own.” Love is sacrificial, giving, active and other-focused.

But truthfully, in my book, James’ willingness to watch Hallmark Christmas movies with me (occasionally!) is indeed a testimony of his love for me. I know these flicks are not really his speed. But he willingly and happily sits and watches them with me now and again throughout the season…because he loves me. And because I love him, I don’t expect him to watch all of them. Ha! How can you show someone that you love them today?

Love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous; love does not brag, it is not arrogant. It does not act disgracefully, it does not seek its own benefit; it is not provoked, does not keep an account of a wrong suffered, it does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; it keeps every confidence, it believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. ~ 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

xoxo, Kay

  1. Hello Kay,
Congratulations on your first 100k suscribers! Praise God!
Lovely sweater, lovely outfit! Thank you for introducing us to this brand!
    Have a blessed Thanksgiving Day!

    1. I fell in love with Mongolian cashmere in 2008 when I discovered it in an oldvSoviet Era department store in Klan Batar. Alas, we were at the beginning of our trip. The end was hectic and I never did get back to the store. Is the brand available in Thunder Bay….it’s a lot closer to MPS?

  2. This outfit is beautiful and just the kind of thing I love to wear. I just wish that I didn’t have the wool allergy that makes even soft wonderful goat hair itchy. 🤪 I loved your husbands Hallmark expertise. I have my husband hooked on Hallmark movies. It started with the mysteries and spilled over into romcoms. Ha! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  3. Your husband’s definition of love can work in a mutual loving relationship. I have been learning about abusive relationships and unfortunately, many use the Christian definition of love to manipulate and control their spouse. It is an epidemic in the church. I believe pastors should educate themselves on abuse and its cycles and warn their flock of its evils. It is more common than we realize. Come, Lord Jesus!

    1. That’s not my husband’s definition of love, Karin. It’s God’s definition. And not only does the Bible explain that love is self-sacrificing and other-focused, but God demonstrated this love when He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die a horrible death for us…while we were yet sinners. You’re absolutely right, however, that many abuse this kind of love by demanding that others demonstrate it to them while they walk all over the other person. That’s a shame. In fact, it’s horrible. But that doesn’t let me off the hook when it comes to loving others. I’m called to love even those who are difficult and undeserving. My husband did also explain in his sermon that love is only true love when it exists in the presence of truth. So love speaks the truth, too. Real love doesn’t let another behave horribly or abusively. It speaks and dwells in the truth.

  4. My pastor told me that every time he looked down into the casket of an unsaved person he would ask himself,”Would it have made a difference if I had tried one more time to get him to listen?”
Beautiful sweater but I will only have a passing acquaintance with it. I’m very happy for those women who can afford to wear these beautiful sweaters but I’ll need to look for a similar one. Usually I can so I will try to repeat this pretty outfit. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Kay and all who follow this blog. Don’t forget to sat Grace.😊🙏🏻

  5. Kay,as much as I loved cashmere(I do own several pieces). When I read a month ago in a very serious news report that every year,a lot of mongolian cashmere goats die of cold!because they are stripped of their fur in the cold months due to the overdemand and the fact that Cashmere goat cattle is scarce,I made a pledge not to buy a single item that contains cashmere anymore.Animals are God’s creatures also and we must must respect, honour and take care of them.

    1. You are certainly welcome to your views Martha, but the reason I agreed to share this particular brand is that they own and care for their own herd of Mongolian goats. They are invested in them. They are a brand that believes in sustainability and practices it. Mongolian goats, like sheep, must be shorn or they grow heavy with their hair. So it is actually not compassionate to not harvest the hair on their underbellies, where cashmere fibers are taken from. It may be true that some are abusing Mongolian goats due to over demand, but I have no reason to suspect that Dongli is among them.

    2. Happy Thanksgiving Martha!

We really appreciate your concern about the Mongolian cashmere goats.
We raise and comb our own cashmere goats from Inner Mongolia in the spring time – when they naturally shed their cashmere fibres. There is no denying that the demand for cashmere far exceeds the world’s supply of cashmere.
That is why we are SFA (sustainable fibre alliance) certified, to ensure our cashmere is harvested sustainably, year after year.

We truly respect our cashmere goats and take care of them.

  6. Thank you for the BFMD! There are a few things I need to be better about, especially as it relates to Larry. On a rare occasion I can get him to watch a Hallmark movie with me. He says he doesn’t like sappy movies, but he sure gets involved trying to figure out who will fall in love with whom. Oh, Kay, that sweater is absolutely beautiful and you look fabulous in that shade of pink. And those trees are stunning! As we drive over Mt. Eagle on Sat. we are hoping to see some of the pretty fall colors. Happy early Thanksgiving to you and James!
