It’s time to get a little festive! Today I’m sharing a holiday outfit with black watch plaid velveteen pants that I’ve topped with a pretty blouse. I’m looking forward to wearing this very outfit to a Christmas party next week.

I purchased these Black Watch plaid velveteen pants last year, but Talbots carried either the same or very similar pants again this year. Alas, they are sold out! They’ve had such amazing deals lately, it’s no wonder. If you love this combination and want to recreate it, these slim leg Black Watch Tartan plaid pants would work just as well (also in petite). They come in plus sizes, too.

I styled these Black Watch Tartan plaid pants two ways in this post last year. But in both of those outfits I wore turtlenecks for a slightly more sporty look. This year I’ve been on the hunt for pretty, feminine blouses. So when I came across this beautiful navy tiered tie neck top I knew I wanted to wear it with my Black Watch Tartan plaid velveteen pants.

Feminine Blouse

This blouse is fully lined in the bodice, but the full sleeves are sheer and feature a single button on the cuffs. It’s 100% polyester so it’s machine washable. And this feminine blouse fits true to size; I’m wearing a medium. It’s been 40% off this weekend, but we’ll see how it’s priced today. Fingers crossed! I’m loving this blouse!

I’m sharing this outfit with two different options in footwear. Both shoes are from Sarah Flint, but I really just wanted you to see that it works with heels or flats. Sarah Flint shoes are exquisitely hand crafted in Italy and fit beautifully. I’m sharing the navy suede Rosies and the black Sacchetto ballet flats. You can use code SARAHFLINT-BAKAYH for $50 off your first pair of Sarah Flint shoes. I’m including some less expensive options in the shopping widget below.

Pretty Blouse

I added some festive and feminine jewelry to this party-ready look. My dazzling earrings were from Banana Republic a couple of years ago. These pave link earrings at Banana Republic Factory would work beautifully for similar holiday looks. And my multi strand necklace is still available. I’m also wearing my Nordgreen Philosopher watch with the black leather band (use code KAYHRMS for 15% off).

Wearing my Quilted Coat with a Festive Outfit

I topped my holiday look with my black quilted coat. If I still lived in Arizona or even Georgia, I’d probably be calling this my coat for the winter. It has that great winter coat look but it’s fairly lightweight. And you can dress it up or down.

Festive Outfit with Pretty Blouse

I have a fun ornament exchange and dinner with the women from my church next week, so I think I’ll wear this outfit that evening. I think this feminine navy blouse really sweetens the deal. And I’ll be wearing it into the spring for sure. It will look nice with jeans or nice trousers.

Festive Outfit with a Feminine Blouse

Do you have holiday events and gatherings to look forward to? Or maybe your festivities have already begun. I think this is about as dressy as I’ll be getting for holiday events this year. What about you?

Blessed for My Day

My husband is preaching through the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23 right now, and yesterday he expounded upon peace. Ah, we could all use a little peace right now. But instead we often feel anxious because we allow our minds to dwell on our circumstances. Anxiety has been likened to loose ends that we desperately wish could be tied up into neat bows, all to no avail. And even on those rare days when life is indeed pretty well tied together in a nice pretty package, peace eludes us.

That’s because true peace has nothing to do with our circumstances. And peace is not a byproduct of being in control or having all our ducks in a row. True peace is a state of mind and heart that only comes through a right relationship with our Creator. When we focus on Him instead of our circumstances He actually grants us peace. What should we dwell on about God? His promises, His provision and His presence.

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. ~ Isaiah 26:3

  1. Hi Kay…… when Abby said she was going on a trip last week I told her on her IG post reel that she was getting Engaged!

This blouse is so so feminine and I’m in love with it. I love sleeves that have that see through material. I just bought a sweater that has those sleeves, super cute!

Congratulations on being a Mother in Love🥰 too. (They set a date yet? Haha)

    Blessings,

    1. Hi Holly. No date yet, but soon I’m sure. We’ll be looking at venues in the weeks to come. I’m glad you enjoyed the post. 💕

  2. I like this outfit. It is very festive but I am guessing also very comfortable to wear. It looks so nice on you.

  3. I do like the colors very much. I will be wearing blue and then maybe burgundy this year. I usually wear red or white but just feel like moving away from the usual this year. It’s a very nice blouse. So, send me your pretty green since you won’t be wearing it for Christmas. LOL
Peace is really what we need. Peace on earth and especially good will toward each other.🙏🏻🎄

  4. Congratulations on Abigail‘s engagement. I hope she will be very happy as her parents are. I know you really like Andrew. I bet she is so excited! I like the outfit very pretty. I have a similar blouse from Ann Taylor in this new color that I purchased with some plaid pants about a month ago. I love blue. Probably my second favorite color. Our minister was teaching on righteous anger this Sunday and what causes anger and how to control it. That is all right to have anger but it is what we do with the anger that is wrong or right. There is so much anger in the world right now. Jesus deals with the cause of your anger. James 1: 19-20 Was just one verse
he referenced. Have a blessed day.

  5. Such a lovely, feminine look, Kay! You look especially radiant in it. Thanks for the BFMD as well. Truly the only peace is Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
Congratulations on your daughter Abigail’s engagement. Such exciting news!

  7. Beautiful outfit, Kay! So festive! Congratulations to you on Abagail’s engagement. What an exciting year ahead for all!
