Hi gals! Today I’m sharing something new with you. Or at least it’s new for me. I subscribed to Trunk Club about a month ago and recently received my first trunk. I thought I’d share with you what came in the trunk and how Trunk Club works.
What is Trunk Club?
I’ve gotten to where I really prefer shopping from home. I’m weary of poorly lit fitting rooms and store racks that don’t include my sizes. Plus I’m tired of feeling rushed and getting hot and tired from pulling garments on and off in a cramped room. So while I miss the instant gratification of walking out of a store with my selections in tow, I like receiving items and trying them on at my home.
That’s why I decided to give Trunk Club from Nordstrom a try. Trunk Club is a subscription service that allows you to try on a hand-picked selection of items from Nordstrom in the comfort of your home so you can purchase only what you love. Here’s how it works:
- First you create your style profile online. By answering a few questions about your fit, style, and budget, you’ll give your personal stylist a better picture of your unique style. You can even share Pinterest boards of looks you like.
- Next you’ll talk to your stylist – a real person – either on the phone or in Trunk Club’s messenger app. You can work with your stylist as much or as little as you’d like to find the clothes you need. When your Trunk is ready, she’ll send you a digital preview for your approval.
- Then you have 48 hours to approve or amend your Trunk preview. Once you give the thumbs-up, your Trunk will be delivered via UPS in 4–6 business days. Shipping is free, and Trunks can be sent anywhere in the contiguous U.S.
- When your Trunk arrives at your door, you get to try everything on in the comfort and privacy of your home. You can take 5 days to decide what to keep and what to return. A $25 styling fee—waived for Nordstrom cardholders—will be credited toward your purchase.
- You can return anything you don’t just fall in love with. Returns are free with the included shipping label. Trunk Club even provides the tape you’ll need to repack the box! Then you can arrange a pickup with UPS right on the Trunk Club website or drop your Trunk at any UPS Store.
- Trunks can be arranged on a regular basis for your convenience, or you can tell your stylist when you’d like to receive your next trunk. It’s all super convenient and easy. In fact, Trunk Club makes the whole process feel luxurious and indulgent, but at really no cost to you!
My Experience with My First Trunk – Athleisurewear
With Trunk Club you can choose from several themed Trunks – 10 Wardrobe Essentials, the Date-Night Trunk, One Item Six Ways, etc. – or you can simply tell your stylist what kind of clothing you’re looking for. While one of the featured Trunks is an Activewear Trunk, I asked my stylist to send me Athleisurewear. I’ve really been craving some comfy joggers that I could throw on with a tee and jacket to wear around the house or out running errands. And I’ve needed some sneakers – not running shoes, but “athletic” shoes that I don’t have to be extremely athletic in. Make sense?
I’ll have to admit, I wasn’t extremely thrilled with what I got in my Trunk. Yes, they were all good quality garments and several ended up being on sale at reduced prices when it was time for me to decide on my purchase. But my stylist didn’t quite send me what I really wanted. You’ll see that she sent me several pieces that I would consider more for working out than running errands. I don’t need workout clothes; I have plenty. And maybe, no definitely, some women would wear these pieces to Target. But I just wouldn’t.
However, I have heard from other women that you really have to give your stylist and the process a few tries before things start going smoothly with your Trunks. And I’m more than willing to do that. I’ve loved communicating with my stylist, Shelly, and I’m confident that we’ll start thinking more alike about my Trunk as time goes on. But of course it’s good to have someone encourage me to try on items I wouldn’t normally pick for myself, too. So there’s that.
My Athleisure Trunk Club Box
I’m sure that these joggers have a looser fit on some women, but not me. And I didn’t care for the ruffle down the leg. I felt like it made me look wider and…just a little silly. What do you think?
I actually like the t-shirt, but I had to put on a sports bra with it, and I don’t want to wear a sports bra with my athleisurewear. (You can’t really see it from this vantage point, but the shirt has a crisscross back.) I’m very small-chested and a sports bra does nothing for me. So this shirt was out.
Next up…
These leggings wouldn’t work for obvious reasons. I hesitated to even include this photo, but I think you might take comfort in knowing that when I try on clothes, more item don’t work than do! No one can wear everything, ladies.
I actually like this t-shirt, too, but I didn’t keep it. It’s significantly reduced in price and you can find a nice gray version here. It’s very soft and falls nicely.
This cotton tank just wasn’t what I was looking for. It’s marked down significantly, but I just don’t need it. Still not liking the joggers on me!
At this point in my try-on session I was getting a little discouraged. Do you do that when you’re trying on clothes, too? I’m learning to hang in there and keep an open mind.
Please pardon the dirty mirror. I wasn’t wearing my glasses for most of this, so I didn’t realize how dirty it was until I was almost through. Sorry…
I’m still wearing the Zella New Energy t-shirt here, but I’ve changed into these high waist crop leggings. These are actually great leggings for working out. And I would definitely recommend them, and would have purchased them if I’d needed them. But I have similar ones in my drawer ready to go for when the weather gets cooler.
I’ve also added the shoes Shelly sent me to try. And I really like these Nike Air sneakers. But I’d also recently ordered a pair of Teva sneakers from Nordstrom Rack and decided to go with them instead. These fit nicely and I like the color, though.
Ugh! That dirty mirror. I ‘m so sorry.
The only thing new in this photo is the Tommy Jeans Twist Neck Tee. This t-shirt is incredibly soft and comfortable. It doesn’t look bad either. but it just wasn’t something I needed. It is however on sale. So if you’re looking for just a basic, soft navy t-shirt, this is a good buy.
Somehow this mirror was getting dirtier by the minute!
This I love. I kept this Zella Day Dream Jacket because it fit the needs I was looking to fill and it’s a great jacket. It’s amazingly soft, fairly lightweight and 50% off the regular price. That’s a win. I’m wearing the Small and it fits very nicely. I got the “blue insignia” but it also comes in black and red hibiscus (which looks more orange in the website photo). I really think I’ll enjoy wearing this jacket this fall, especially with those elusive joggers, if I ever find any I like!
Would you like to give Nordstrom’s Trunk Club a try? It really is pretty risk-free. If you have a Nordstrom Card the $25 styling fee is waived. But even if you don’t have a card, the styling fee is credited toward your purchase anyhow. You can even connect with my stylist, Shelly, when you click through my referral links. Let me know if you give it a whirl! Honestly, I thought this was a very good experience and I’m looking forward to my next Trunk. I’ve scheduled mine for every month right now, but could change to every 2nd or even 3rd month if I chose.
Of course, I earn a credit toward my Trunk Club account if you buy something through your Trunk Club experience. But then you can turn around and do the same thing by sharing on Facebook or through email! Thanks so much for reading and shopping here today. Have a good one!
Blessed for My Day
Today I pray for you to experience the Lord’s presence in your everyday. While you are driving to work or back home, as you prepare dinner or fold laundry, while you negotiate business in a difficult meeting, wherever you exercise or shop or go out for dinner. Let’s remember to invite the Lord into our lives, and let’s be sure to make room for Him instead of shoving Him into a corner. Let’s lean in and listen, rest our heads on His strong and capable shoulders and trust that He’s “got this.” Today let’s seek His presence and enjoy it fully. May you hear His voice clearly and know His presence intimately. That’s my prayer for you.
“And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s creation. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. ~ Revelation 3:14, 20
Cute jacket! I can see why you kept it. I’ve received two trunks so far and understand when you say it may take a couple tries before you and the stylist are on the same page. I’m still working towards that!
Once again I love your Blessed for My Day!
Ahh, thanks for adding sharing your experience, Connie. Yes, I’m definitely willing to keep working at it. Quite worth it. Thanks for reading!
Thanks for sharing. I was so hoping when I read the title that there would be good ideas for athleisure. I agree and I am about your age and aesthetic, no way would I wear most of this except to truly work out. Sometimes Chico’s Travel wear has good athleisure. I also find decent Yoga type pants at Target. Also found couple of cute longer pullover hoodies at Loft Outlet.
I actually have another order from Nordstrom coming in tomorrow that has some athleisurewear in it. So I’m hoping for better luck this time. These are pieces I chose for myself, so we’ll see. I’ll definitely show them next week if they work. I tried on some joggers at Target the other day and they didn’t work for me either. And I actually have several pair of yoga pants that work well. For some reason I just have it in my head that I want some loose fitting joggers, maybe even cropped. Of course, when I get something in my head like this I rarely find exactly what I’m looking for and most often eventually give up.
Good Morning Kay, First of all I will say that I loved your Bible Verse today Revelation 3:14, 20. Then to switch subjects I do like the first pair of Joggers with the ruffles down the leg. They made your legs look Buff! I know they are very girly girl, but they are on trend and would look good with a white Muscle T-Shirt and you could throw on your blue dream jacket that you bought. Hope you didn’t send the joggers back yet!
LOL! I did send them back. But I like your perspective. It all goes to show that we get used to seeing ourselves a certain way and then can’t see past our own perceptions sometimes. I appreciate you weighing in because it will help me to look at my reflection in the mirror a little differently in the future. And yes, as I looked back over the pictures I kinda liked those joggers more, too. I think it was just that I had a certain idea of what I was looking for and those didn’t fit the bill. But I do need to keep an open mind, especially when trying on things that I wouldn’t have necessarily picked for myself! Thanks, Aimee. I appreciate your perspective. 🙂
I had to laugh because I’m twisting my mom’s arm to wear joggers and trust me when I tell you I had to twist hard! We do get used to a certain look, and it’s not always easy to see beyond that!
And my mirror is probably dirtier—my hubby gives me a hard time and I tell him that I look through it not at it! Same with my glasses…LOL!
XOXO

Ahh, thanks for making me feel better. I was so embarrassed when I loaded those photos and realized how dirty that mirror was. I would have shot the whole thing all over again but I had already boxed up my returns! ?
