What are you cooking up tonight? I’ve been cooking and baking a lot lately – for a birthday, a hurting family, church potlucks and just dinners for two – and most every time I turn on the stove or oven I then reach for an apron.
I just love pretty aprons. In fact, I wish we still lived in the day when it was common to wear an apron all day as you cleaned, worked in the garden and went about your household chores. Of course, I’d be the gal who constantly forgot to put hers on!
But not only do I usually wear an apron when I’m cooking, I often give pretty aprons as gifts. I think an apron makes a sweet gift for a bride. You can put a few of your recipes on pretty little recipe cards like these and add them to the gift for a special touch.
I prefer full length aprons like this tufted and textured one from Anthropologie. And no, I don’t mind getting a pretty apron like this spattered and soiled. It’s an apron. More than likely, I won’t be wearing it out of the house. And of course it can be washed. In fact, I wash my aprons frequently because I’m a messy cook!
I’ve just got to love the Southern Living Cactus apron above. I mean, it’s by Southern Living, y’all. And it has cacti on it…like the ones I see out my window.
College football kicked off last weekend, so it’s time for tailgating. That means you might need an apron to take to the game with you so you won’t get barbecue sauce all over your red and black while you’re serving up those ribs. I found this Georgia Bulldog apron at Kohl’s. Yes, I’m not sure why you’d need one, but they do have aprons with other school logos on them, too. Just joking with you!
Here’s another pretty one from Antrhopologie. I love the little pom poms on the hemline. And all the colors!
I picked up this cheerful apron at Target recently. It’s a part of their newest brand collection, Opalhouse. It also has those adorable pom pom tassels.
This pretty blue and white fringed apron is another Opalhouse apron available at Target. It would make a nice gift for my mom who loves blue and white. Do you know a cook who gravitates toward blue and white, too?
This floral embroidered apron is from Sur la Table. It reminds me of a French farm kitchen. Somehow wearing a pretty apron like this makes cooking and baking even more enjoyable to me.
Don’t you just love this beautiful watercolored chickens apron?
This cheerful but subdued cherry apron reminds me of some of the vintage aprons I own. It’s a little pricier than the others I’ve shown, but it would make a beautiful gift for a dear friend. Of course, it doesn’t have to be a gift. The way I see it, I wear an apron as often as or more frequently than I wear most items of clothing. So a pretty apron makes a pretty just-because gift for me, too.
Honestly, nothing but a full apron will do for me. I get most of my cooking splatters up top, it seems. But if you prefer a half apron, I found this pretty contrasting print apron at Bed, Bath & Beyond.
Sometimes I want an apron that is more subtle, more understated and simple. That’s what appeals to me about this sweet farmhouse apron from the Martha Stewart collection.
Do you ever cook a big meal in one apron and then change into a clean one to serve your guests? Ha! Guilty! That’s when I’d reach for this pretty black and white full apron, also from Bed Bath & Beyond.
So that’s a dozen pretty aprons for cooking in style. But I found so many more and included many of them in the shopping widget below. Don’t forget to use the “sale alert” feature if you’d like to keep an eye on an apron that you like. It’s easy and a convenient way to watch for sales.
I hope you enjoyed today’s post on a dozen pretty aprons. If you did, why not pin it to a Pinterest board – maybe one for gifts or the kitchen. And be sure to share it on Facebook, too. When you share this post or shop through the affiliate links I’ve included it really helps me out. And I am so very appreciative. Blessed for My Day
Today may you find the keeping of your home to be a joy, not a drudgery. May you shoulder the tasks you must accomplish gracefully and graciously. And when others don’t rise up to help and the job seems overwhelming, may you draw your strength from the Lord, who values every little task you accomplish and sees what you do. May you choose to do your work for an audience of One, and may you find joy in a job well done…even if it has to be done again tomorrow…or before. And let’s not forget either to get our priorities in order, remembering that people are more important than spotless floors or organized closets. And our time with Jesus is most precious of all. Today may you be blessed in the keeping of your home.
But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” ~ Luke 10:41-42
Thanks for the fun with the aprons, Kay!! I loved seeing how everyone sent those photos to you!!

I’m glad you enjoyed it Jodie. Thanks for sending one in. ?
Such cute aprons and such a fun post. After staining many shirts, aprons are now a must for me when cooking!
Yes, I’ve stained enough clothing to learn my lesson too!
Such cute aprons! I should wear one when I cook, too. I get mad at myself every time I splatter spaghetti sauce on a white T-shirt. ?
I hear you! I got salsa on a white t-shirt just yesterday!
Love it! I treasure my aprons some of which were my Mother’s, gifts, or made by hand for me! (3 from our friend Betty Welch) . Daughter, Michelle made a fancy white one with eyelet trim!
Ah, those are precious gifts indeed. I have one Michelle made me, too. It’s so pretty! 🙂
I enjoyed this fun post! I don’t wear an apron very often (probably because I don’t spend much time in the kitchen!), but when I do, I wear one of my Grandmother’s. She always had an apron on, and I have such great memories that come to mind when I put on her apron!
Ah, sweet memories. Thanks for reading. 🙂
What a fun post! Some of those aprons are just to pretty to cook in. The Target aprons are so cute, I’m going to have to check them out! Also, love your “Blessed for my day” segments ?
I’m so pleased that you liked it Teri. Yes, some of them do look too pretty to cook in, but hey! Why not? 🙂
Such a delightful post! Thanks, Kay!
So glad you gals liked it! It was fun!
