Hello and welcome to Dressed for My Day. Because I know so many of my readers seem to enjoy my posts featuring Target brands, I decided to jump on their newest brand as fast as I could so you could say, “I saw it first on Dressed for My Day!” Ha!
So I don’t know if you’re already familiar with Prologue or not, but I’m pretty sure their products are just hitting the stores and have only been on Target.com for a short while. Prologue is being billed as “the essential edit of modern style.”
Now in this post, the only Prologue piece I’m sharing is this long open front black cardigan. But over the next two days I’ll be sharing two additional outfits composed of more fashions by this Target exclusive brand.
I ordered all the Prologue pieces I’ll be featuring from Target.com and they were delivered to my store for easy pick-up within just a couple of days. Of course I didn’t have to pay shipping that way, and I can return things to the store, too.
At any rate, I had no idea what the quality would be like on these products. But I was pleasantly surprised and happy with my order across the board.
Target is advertising Prologue as “timeless pieces you’ll reach for again and again” and “styles that are forever yet forward.” So think Talbots with an edge. A pretty sharp edge, at that.
If you check out the entire Prologue collection at Target.com you’ll notice that most of the pieces are black or white, camel or navy and the occasional wine. They’re mostly solids, with a few subtly patterned pieces thrown in for good measure. These are definitely work clothes, but with an unmistakable modern vibe.
I could have paired this comfortable but elegant long cardigan with my burgundy jeans, but I’ve shown them several times recently and so I decided to go with a black and white look instead. I kept the black and white consistent but interesting by wearing my leopard print belt and carrying this gold reversible tote, also both from Target. Then I added a final soft note with my toasted sesame suede pumps.
My jeans are these steel grey jeggings (25% off right now). They also come in a curvy fit. And you can get a truer black high rise jegging, too.
I’m wearing the Madewell Whisper Cotton V-Neck Pocket Tee, which comes in several other great colors, too. It does run large. Definitely size down. I’m wearing a medium and wish I had the small.
By the way, a reader asked the other day what size my leopard print belt is. I’m wearing a medium, and I really don’t think I could wear a small.
I think the key to wear all black or black and white is adding the right accessories. Yes, you could certainly add color here. But I love the look of gold paired with black and white. That’s why I chose leopard print, a gold suede and this metallic gold tote. When you flip it inside out it’s a pretty taupe.
My waterfall earrings are no longer available, but I’ve linked to several options, both from Target and elsewhere, in the widget below. I chose not to wear a necklace, but if I wore one it would be a dainty gold one. I want to keep this look chic and simple.
By the way, this cardigan is made of a nylon yarn and it feels soft and cool against the skin. It’s not hot at all. You definitely could wear it year round in a cool office.

Blessed for My Day
Today I pray for you endurance. And while I certainly hope God blesses you with the fortitude just to make it through the day and get your work done and persevere through the hard thing you’re facing, I want more for you than that. I pray for you…and me…to endure in holiness, in righteous living, in godliness. No, we won’t be perfect, but we can be blameless. I pray that when we lay our heads down on our pillows we can rest with a clear conscience because we stayed the course, we chose well, we resisted the easy and glittery and appealing and stuck with the healthy and holy and honest instead. Today I pray God helps you to endure…because you choose to endure.
Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. ~ Hebrews 10:35-36
Hi Kay !!!! As always I needed your BFMD. ~Lisa~
Hi Lisa ?. I’m so glad the blessing ministered to you! ?

Yes, this line does seem very promising. I think Target has been needing a more basic, classic line. Thanks for reading, Jodie. ?
Thank you for featuring clothes from several stores instead of the “one” store. Because of you featuring clothes from Target, I am branching out, saving money and enjoying new outfits!! Thanks Kay!!
You betcha, Kathy! Thanks for reading. 🙂
