Happy Friyay! Hopefully you’re looking at the final work day of the week, but I’m posting an all business look here on Dressed for My Day. Wednesday I showed you these ankle length jogger pants from the new Prologue line at Target with a more casual pullover sweater that would work for the office or dinner afterwards. But today I’m styling those same joggers with a sharp, black wrap jacket that’s all business.
It appears that Target.com still has these dark gray ankle length jogger pants available in every size. I’m wearing the medium, but they’re really too big for me in the waist, so I should have a small. They also come in plus sizes.
These mid-rise pants have a full elastic waistband and are made of a lightweight, comfortable polyester blend. They’re very soft, not itchy at all. You could definitely get through a work day in these and not feel like you’ve been battling your pants all day. Know what I mean?
I love this long sleeve collared blazer, which has a side belt fasten. It feels comfortable and soft. And I didn’t worry about the belt giving way and slipping while I was wearing it. The jacket felt very secure, but I could have as easily worn a lightweight black cami underneath for added privacy/protection.
The only frustrating thing about this polyester and Spandex blazer is that I’m wearing a small and it’s too large on me. So I think you’d definitely want to size down. Like, jump to the size below your lowest normal size. But the jacket does look sharp and it can be machine washed and dried.
I think this jacket would also look great with a print or floral skirt, jeans or straight leg full length pants. You really do have to belt it for it to look right though. It’s not a jacket you’d wear open.
I’ve been looking for a new “brief case,” if anyone calls them that anymore. I like to carry my notes, business cards and contract in a nice looking satchel like this gray tote bag when I go to speaking engagements. This bag, also from Target, is available in black as well. Of course it’s a faux leather, but it’s also a fraction of the price you’d pay for a leather bag. It has lots of roomy zipper compartments and a shoulder strap.
I’m wearing my Marc Fisher Zala block heel pumps, which appear to still be fully stocked at Zappos. They have them in other nice plaids there, too.
But I also found this tweed block heel pump at Talbots, where they are still 25% off, making them significantly cheaper than mine…and every bit as stylish. Or, if you prefer a block heel pump to go with your navy slacks, Talbots has these pomegranate and indigo striped ones.
My black sunglasses are old, but I’m pretty sure they’re from Talbots. Currently they’re featuring these, and of course they’re 25% off right now.
I kept my jewelry to a minimum because I didn’t want a necklace to get in the way of the collar on this jacket. So I’m wearing my James Avery black leather cord necklace with my shield of faith pendant. I meant to put on some silver earrings, but I think I’m still wearing my pearls from an earlier outfit. Oops! But I’d recommend something classy and professional like these James Avery sterling silver earrings. Of course I always wear my adorned hearts James Avery ring.
If you didn’t have a chance to see these ankle length jogger pants styled a little more casually (but every bit as stylishly) in my previous post, I encourage you to check it out here. If I’m going to buy a pair of trendy pants like these, I want to know that I can wear them more than one way. And really the options are endless with these joggers.
By the way, in case you’re still not convinced that you can wear jogger pants with style, let’s rethink that. Check out my friend Jodie at Jodie’s Touch of Style. Wednesday she and her mom, step mom and friend all shared outfits with jogger pants. That’s four more outfits with joggers you can check out!
After styling the new Prologue clothes Tuesday, Wednesday and today, my final assessment of this Target exclusive line is that they are:
- stylish – classic essentials with a trendy vibe
- affordable
- comfortable
- a little over-sized (size down)
- wearable and easy to care for
- and decently constructed for the price.
Let me know what you think!

Blessed for My Day
On this day I pray for you to know the value of your own life. September is National Suicide Awareness Month, and I think it’s a good time to reflect on the tragedy of this epidemic. Just this past week a dear family in our church lost a precious family member to suicide. And I’ve known far too many people personally who have ended their own life to think that this is just something that hits “other people.” I bet you have lost loved ones to this scheme of the enemy, too.
Today let’s covenant together to always reach up and reach out before we reach for anything that would end our lives. And if you’re in a place emotionally, mentally, spiritually where you have considered ending your own life, I implore you to tell someone who loves you and who will take you seriously. Do it today. And then listen to the advice and encouragement they give you to get help. You are too valuable to lose. The only one who would benefit from your self-inflicted death would be the enemy of your soul. That needs to make you mad enough to fight for your life…even if the days are hard and the hours are long right now. I understand. I’ve felt that kind of pain before, too. But I promise you, there can be brighter days ahead…if you’ll reach out for a gracious hand.
Deep calls to deep
at the roar of your waterfalls;
all your breakers and your waves
have gone over me.
By day the Lord commands his steadfast love,
and at night his song is with me,
a prayer to the God of my life.
I say to God, my rock:
“Why have you forgotten me?
Why do I go mourning
because of the oppression of the enemy?”
As with a deadly wound in my bones,
my adversaries taunt me,
while they say to me all the day long,
“Where is your God?”
Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation and my God.
~ Psalm 42:7-11
