I don’t live a glamorous life. In fact, I live an extraordinarily ordinary life. But every once in a while I do enjoy putting on the ritz and going out on the town. My parents raised me with a keen appreciation for the fine arts, so I still enjoy getting dressed up occasionally and attending an orchestra performance, the ballet, a play or a recital of some sort, whether it’s piano, classical guitar, flute or voice. So when I have the opportunity to catch a performance and go out to dinner before or after, I always choose to dress up a little, even if others are in much more casual clothes. And that’s exactly why I like having something like this deep pink crepe A-line dress in my closet.
Not only is this dress striking and beautifully feminine, but it’s comfortable and easy to wear, too. It’s lined and 100% polyester, but it’s also lightweight. So it’s suitable for every season really, and perfect for so many special occasions.
I love the big bow on the stand-up collar and the three-quarter length sleeves on this crepe A-line dress.
Because I want to draw attention to the bow and then on up to my face, I chose to keep my jewelry simple. I’m only wearing these stunning Kendra Scott earrings in rose gold. They’re also available in gold and silver.
This Rebecca Minkoff leather clutch in mink is a classic staple, and this neutral shade compliments most anything. But it does come in additional colors.
My block heel leopard print pumps pair nicely with everything from jeans to tweed skirts to my black suit pants to this pink crepe A-line dress. Due to Nordstrom’s price matching policy, they’re marked down 30% right now. They’re comfortable and easy to walk in, despite the high heel. And they run true to size.
I’ve heard that some of you have skipped fall and landed smack dab in the middle of winter. So you gals are probably already pulling out the coats. This camel wool blend reefer coat is fairly lightweight, so it is perfect for the few cold days or nights we have here in southeastern Arizona. And while it’s definitely dressy enough to wear with this ensemble for an evening out, it’s also suitable for work days or more casual wear.
In case you’d like to check out some other similar reefer coats and different price points, you might like this Calvin Klein coat or this Karl Lagerfeld one, which also comes in a lovely pale pink and a very nice light grey.
I think this ensemble is fun, current, but oh so classic. Plus every piece I’m wearing is comfortable and easy to wear for a fun night out. If you’d like to check out a another crepe A-line dress or two I’ve included a few more in the shopping widget below.

I received this entire ensemble in my most recent Trunk Club trunk. Isn’t it smashing? Shelly, my stylist, does such a great job of selecting pieces that I will love. No, I don’t love 100% of them, but that’s okay. I’m trying styles I wouldn’t have tried otherwise, and Shelly is getting to know my preferences and my fit. I’ve used other stylists and shopping services before, but Nordstrom’s Trunk Club is truly head and shoulders above the others I’ve tried. If you have any questions about Trunk Club, I’d be glad to answer them. But bottom line, I find it easy, fun and risk-free. Because I am a Nordstrom Cardholder, I don’t have to pay the stylist fee (just $25 and applied toward your purchase). And you can ask for clothing and accessories that fit your lifestyle and at any price point you choose. So let me know if you have questions or just explore all the Q&A here.

Blessed for My Day
Don’t you just love it when someone says or writes something you just really needed to hear? Maybe they gave you a piece of wise advice, some sweet encouragement, a little loving affirmation or a word of gratitude. Or maybe they empathized with something you’re struggling with…and you thought you were the only one who understood. It feels so good to hear the words our souls are hungry for. But it feels equally good to be the one who somehow manages to say just the right thing at the right time. Wow. That’s so amazing and humbling, isn’t it?
I’ve found that when I do manage to say the right thing at the right time it’s because I’ve been spending ample time in God’s Word and in prayer. On the other hand, if I’ve been neglecting the reading of God’s Word and spending little or no time with the God of the Word, I have little to offer. Let’s be women who seek God’s Word diligently for truth, affirmation, encouragement and wisdom…feeding our souls and feasting on His provision…then we’ll more likely be able to bless those around us with “an apt answer.”
A man has joy in an apt answer, And how delightful is a timely word! ~ Proverbs 15:23
Beautiful dress and beautiful on you! I love the color of it too. Now, I just wish I had some place to wear it!! We live in rural OK, not far from Tulsa, but our lifestyle is SO casual….I even dress up more than most people for church, just so I can wear my nicer clothes. I refuse to constantly live in jeans! Love your blog and your sense of style.
I hear you, Sondra. I refuse to always live in jeans, too. So I do have to get creative and just dress up for dinner out or whatever. Thanks for sharing!
Love the heels, I’m a sucker for a little bit of leopard print (or a lot! lol) Also, extraordinarily ordinary can be very glamours sometimes 🙂
I feel the same way when we go out. It’s so FUN to dress up and enjoy how we look!
And Kay? This dress is more than perfect on you. I love how you added the leopard shoes for a little sass!
XOXO

Hey Kay. Love the dress! I am looking forward to attending the Atlanta Opera’s performance of West Side Story in November; going with my sisters. Now just have to figure out what to wear!
Oh, that sounds wonderful! It’s been forever since I’ve been to an opera. I bet that will be great. And I know how much you enjoy doing these things with your sisters! Looking forward to seeing you soon! 🙂
You look beautiful in this! Love that little bow detail.
Right?! Thanks so much!
Beautiful dress! I love to dress up. Think we may have gone too far with the casual dressing. I see people in what look like their pajamas.
I agree, Joan. I can’t believe how many grown men and women I see in their pajama pants these days. I’m just not on board with that at all. Thanks for commenting!
Last week, I found a wedding dress with a similar style on this website. More importantly, the price is cheap, but the seller is in China, I am worried about the quality, please give me some advice.
According to the information I’ve gathered from other women, you need to be careful when ordering from overseas mainly because you’ll be stuck with whatever you get. You can’t return or get adjustments. But I’ve heard the quality is actually pretty good. You just might want to give yourself plenty of time so that you can reorder or buy from elsewhere if needed.
