Happy Saturday! I hope you’re doing something today to enjoy the celebration of Jesus’ birth, even if you’re doing it all by yourself. I’m baking and decorating these sugar cookies with my friend Dorothy today, but if she couldn’t join me I’d be baking them by myself anyhow. So if nothing else, turn on some Christmas music, pull out the mixer, put on your apron and bake or cook something that makes you happy. Even if you can’t eat it but need to share it with someone else!
But, before you do that, I hope you’ll spend a few minutes with me here at Dressed for My Day. Thanks so much for dropping in! Today I’m sharing How I Really Dressed for My Day recently. Plus I have links to some great sales. Let’s get started!
How I Really Dressed for My Day
While I love sharing beautiful fashions and styling ideas with you gals, I really tend to dress pretty casually most days. Still, when at all possible, I try to add a little joy to my ensembles with some fun accessories, pretty colors or favorite shoes. Here’s I how I really dressed for my days recently. Oh, and these photos were taken over the course of a couple of weeks.
I wore this jeans, t-shirt and cardi combo to work from home and run a few errands.
I wore this exact outfit to church last Sunday.
I wore my cranberry jeans, grey turtleneck and black blazer shopping in Tucson one day.
I wore this bright pink cashmere sweater (from a couple of years ago) with my skinny jeans when James and I went shopping for him. And I snapped this photo while I was waiting on him in the fitting room!
I wore this pink and brown ensemble out to lunch and a movie with a friend.
I wore this to small group one Sunday evening and to coffee with friends on another evening.
I wore this light Hawthorne rose cashmere sweater and bi-stretch plaid pants out for a holiday dinner with a few sweet friends this week. By the way, these pants are soooo comfortable! And they keep their shape beautifully. Loving them!
I wore my new skinny jeans with a favorite cashmere and my leopard print pumps out to eat dinner with my “young gal” friends Friday night. Do y’all think I looked hip enough to be seen with gals in their 30s????
I’m wearing these jeans and festive plaid shirt today when Dorothy and I get together to bake cookies. Of course, I’ll have an apron on over it! Watch for pics on Instagram!!
If you have any questions about the items in the photos above, just let me know. I try to keep these posts sweet and simple, so I don’t give lots of details about sizes, etc. But any time you’d like additional information, just ask.

Blessed for My Day
I think many of us love the hopeful sentiments expressed in Jeremiah 29:11. We love the assurance that God has good plans for us, and we look with anticipation for those plans to unfold. But this week, as I was reading through the whole chapter of Jeremiah 29, I discovered afresh that this encouraging verse comes in the context of suffering. God’s people were about to enter an extensive time of hardship, loss and even bondage. And it was as He was preparing them for this time of discipline that He reminded them that His overall, overarching plans for them were indeed good.
Yuck. But the truth is we often must endure hardship in order to see the good of God’s plans come to fruition. God’s plans are not just for our comfort or happiness; they are for our “good.” His plans are for us to benefit spiritually, to become more like Jesus, to accomplish kingdom purposes, and to bring Him glory and honor. So while we can trust that God indeed has good plans for us, we must also trust Him through hardship, discipline and other difficulties. The message of Jeremiah 29:11 is not just a sweet hope-filled encouragement, it’s a reminder to hang on and trust as God works all things together for our good.
For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. ~ Jeremiah 29:11
