Hello, and welcome to Dressed for My Day! My goal here, each and every day, is to inspire and help women like you and me dress beautifully and appropriately for our unique days so we can engage gracefully with those around us and influence them positively. Now that spring is in the air here – and at least probably on the horizon wherever you live – I thought it might be a good time to talk about some of the jewelry trends we might want to try this spring.
There are so many interesting, fun and beautiful jewelry trends out there right now, but I decided to narrow our discussion down to just six. These are trends that are fairly risk free and perhaps the easiest for us to embrace without looking like we’re trying too hard.
I think one of the things that can age our appearance the fastest is simply accessory overkill. You and I absolutely can wear whatever we like. And, yes, we should definitely participate in all the trends we delight in. But gals if we want to look more youthful and perhaps a little more sophisticated, we’ll be wise to minimize, hold back just a touch and play it cool.
So here are 6 spring 2019 jewelry trends that I believe we can try without fear of overkill. Plus these are accessorizing trends that lend toward a more youthful look. Here we go.
Dainty Layered Jewelry
You may have seen me recently wearing my new layered necklaces. I love these dainty gold necklaces. But the layering trend extends beyond necklaces to bracelets, rings and earrings.
The trick to layering, in all four cases, is to coordinate two or more small, dainty pieces. When layering necklaces, for instance, you may have one necklace that includes a pendant, but the others should have minimal ornamentation.
Another key to layering necklaces, bracelets, rings or earrings is to mix and match pieces that don’t necessarily look like they were made to go with one another. You don’t even have to mix pieces of the same metal or stone colors.
Here’s a shopping widget with several layering sets for you to consider:
Coin Jewelry
Another trend we’re seeing a lot of right now is coins…in necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings. You may even have some old coin jewelry in your jewelry box, perhaps even some antique pieces. So coins are not new, but they’re having a moment.
When wearing coin jewelry, the key is to minimize. While you can certainly wear some coins in multiple places at once, still don’t go overboard. Maybe wear a layered necklace with a coin motif plus either a coin ring or a bracelet with coins. But don’t match your earrings, necklace, bracelet and rings. Remember, we want this trend to look effortless, casual…like, oh, I just found this coin necklace of my grandmother’s in my jewelry box! Lucky me!
This is just a really modern looking trend, and it can be incorporated into work wear, super casual outfits and even dressier ensembles. Look for coin medallions on belts and handbags, too.
Earrings Worn Differently
Obviously women have been wearing earrings in nontraditional ways for years if not decades. But climbers, cuffs and asymmetrical pairings, along with other “different” ways of wearing earrings are definitely trending big right now. I attribute this to the current trend to make your outfit look more thrown together and haphazard. Of course, it’s anything but an accident when you manage to follow this trend, but it gives the appearance of a casual, come-what-may attitude.
This is such a fun trend to play with. You could buy a set of earrings and then mix and match the pieces. Of course, if you have multiple holes in your ears, you have even more to play with. I happen to have two holes in each ear lobe, but I generally neglect to wear earrings in the upper holes. I think I’ll start layering a little more, especially with asymmetrical pairings.
Here are some fun selections to choose from:
Celestial Jewelry
You’ll see a lot of jewelry featuring celestial signs this spring and summer, too. Of course, jewelry featuring the zodiac signs is popular, but, as a Christ follower, I’m not a fan of anything zodiac related. I do, however, like the pieces that simply feature stars and moons.
Once again, I think these celestial pieces look youthful and fun. Here are some examples you might be interested in.
Resin Earrings
This is another trend that is by no means new. But we’ll continue to see both chunky and sleek resin earrings. More significantly, they’re getting more complex and they’ll feature new colors and color combinations.
You’ll see lots of hoops, like the ones above, but you’ll also see resin drops and discs. These earrings present a fun and easy way to add pops of color or whimsy to an outfit.
Here are some fun, fresh looks to consider:
Jewelry from “Natural” Materials
This spring one of the overall trends is the arts & crafts look. This generally includes anything that either looks handmade or items created from natural materials, or even materials we associate with nature. So you’ll see jewelry featuring sea shells, wood, rattan, yarn, wicker, bamboo and the likes.
For the most part, wearing jewelry in this category will add a casual and even earthy feel to your look. I found the selections below to consider.
Do any of these trends in jewelry interest you? Which ones? I’d love to know. And let me know if you have any questions, too. Of course, like I said, this is not at all an extensive list of the spring jewelry trends, but just some of the ones I’m either already trying or looking forward to dabbling in. I’d love to hear your take!

Blessed for My Day
We can go to great lengths to adorn our bodies with baubles and bracelets, but if we do not tend to the inner woman as earnestly we miss the essence of how our God sees us. God’s Word indicates that there is a difference in how other people see us and how God views us. God looks at the heart. In fact, He carefully examines our hearts.
As God examines your heart today, what does He see? Are there wounds in your heart that need to be healed? Is there bitterness that needs to be uprooted? Is jealousy, envy, regret or discontentment clouding your heart? Then again, maybe God sees potential, beauty and honesty that He longs to tap into and use for His Kingdom.
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or his stature, because I have rejected him. Man does not see what the Lord sees, for man sees what is visible, but the Lord sees the heart.” ~ 1 Samuel 16:7
Looks like I should have kept my jewelry from the 80s. 🙂
Right?!?! I actually sold some beautiful 14 carat gold jewelry because it was so outdated. I used the money towards our family vacation to NYC so I have no regrets. But some of that jewelry would definitely work today. ☺️
I like delicate pieces, especially during spring. My husband makes jewelry, strictly as a hobby, using gemstones we found during former hemming trips in NC, so those are the pieces I enjoy wearing the most. They are very special! Have a blessed day!
Wow! That sounds wonderful. How special to have pieces that remind you of times together and that he made. ?
I like having a personal shopper! Kay, thanks for all your info. Have purchased a resin pair of earrings. Enjoy your day!
Hahaha! Great, Kaye. I bought one new pair recently but I’d like to get another too. I always have such a hard time deciding what color to buy. ?
I’m happy the trend is dainty jewelry…have always been a fan of them! Glad I kept my old jewelry…seems like fashion comes full circle!
I am sorry for your lose of your dear dog Tommy?
Thanks so much Sandra. ?
Beautiful jewelry necklaces and earrings!!
Thanks so much for this post Kay!! I am not much of a trend setter with my clothes, but feel like having a few trendy accessories really adds some pep to my step. I hadn’t seen the ‘naturals’ trend yet, so I will be on the lookout for some unique pieces. Thanks again!
Great! I’m glad you liked the post, Katie. Jewelry can make such a difference! ?
Ok, I’ve been eyeing those Gorjana layering necklaces you’ve been wearing and I finally caved. Just ordered and can’t wait to get them!
So sorry about your dear Tommy. I’ve had to go through that three times. So hard to lose our furry family members. Hugs.
