If you’ve followed my Building a Wardrobe that Works for You series, you probably know that I’ve selected navy and white as two of my neutral colors. And I’m absolutely loving creating looks with these versatile colors this spring. Today I’m sharing a very classic navy and white spring look.

You may have seen this rose quartz trench coat before here, here and here. If you go back and look at those three looks, you’ll see just how versatile this pale pink trench is. And it pairs perfectly with my white chinos and geo print button up shirt.
Yes, a lot of this look is from Talbots. But the good news is that, after a few preview days, the Talbots Friends & Family Sale officially begins today. Your entire purchase will be discounted 30%, and several of the items I’m sharing today are already discounted, so your savings will be increased.
I own four pairs of girlfriend chinos from Talbots, and practically live in them this time of year. They’re lightweight, but not see through. They maintain their shape with wear, so they always look neat, but also casual and fresh. I’m wearing an 8, so they’re TTS.
Remember, Talbots offers clothing in sizes 0-24, and they often have regular fit and curvy, petite and tall.
This geo print shirt is one of their “perfect shirts,” so it’s slightly tailored and made of a no-iron fabric that truly keeps its shape with wear. I’m wearing an 8, so it’s TTS.
The shirt is also available in French rose (pink) and a lighter blue. Sizes are disappearing because this shirt is already marked down for additional savings.
My leather moccasins have proven to be a worthy purchase, and they’re still available in several great shades, including this indigo. These comfortable shoes are also marked down before the 30% off.
My Michael Kors small bucket bag is no longer available, but the larger size is. This bag features 100% leather, top handles and an adjustable and removable shoulder strap. Unlined, the bag has the usual elegance I’ve come to love in Michael Kors handbags. The larger version has already been reduced 50% and is available in several pretty shades, including the soft pink I showed in this post.
I wore my silver jewelry from James Avery and my Brighton French twirl earrings with this outfit, but it’s hard to see in the photos. You’ll find the JA options in the shopping widget below.
I’m heading into Tucson today to check out the Talbots Friends & Family Sale, but I’ve already purchased several items online. Selection seems to diminish fast in these sales, so I wouldn’t wait until the sale ends on the 29th to shop. I’ve ordered multiple sizes in shorts, swimsuits and dresses, with the intention of returning what doesn’t work. Also, don’t forget to check out the items already on sale for additional savings.

Blessed for My Day
I’m not a believer in the “suck it up and put on a smile” mantra. But I do believe that happiness is often a choice hard chosen. We choose either to dwell on the “if only…” or the “nevertheless…” every day, sometimes every moment. For instance, I can get bogged down in the “if only I had more money,” the “if only I were skinnier,” or the “if only I had more blog readers…” But I’m better off choosing to dwell on the “nevertheless I’m going to work with what I have,” the “nevertheless I have enough,” and the “nevertheless God is good.”
Which side of that fence are you dwelling on right now? Do you need to make a leap to the other side? Maybe Habakkuk 3:17-19 will help you get on the right side today.
Though the fig tree should not blossom
And there be no fruit on the vines,
Though the yield of the olive should fail
And the fields produce no food,
Though the flock should be cut off from the fold
And there be no cattle in the stalls,
Yet I will exult in the Lord,
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.
The Lord God is my strength,
And He has made my feet like hinds’ feet,
And makes me walk on my high places. ~ Habakkuk 3:17-19

That is a nice Classic outfit Kay. It has been chilly here in San Diego as well, so I guess I should wear my trench coat too. You look warm and to tell you the truth jackets don’t cover my legs and they get cold! Your Bible verse today is so true. I had to go check out Habakkuk because I have never read it and wasn’t familiar with it. But I like to look good everyday just for myself! These are inspirations I have learned through your Blog & others. The Lord has provided me with a great wardrobe thanks to all the shopping I’ve done because of all your great ideas! I choose to walk in high places too.
Ahh. Thank you for all of that Aimee. Habakkuk is actually one of my favorite books of the Bible. Hits right where we live so often – bewildered, confused and yet trusting God. Thanks for sharing.
