Happy hump day, gals! And welcome back to day two of my collaboration with beautiful Susanne at Thompson Hill. We’re Styling Summer! So be sure to check out what Susanne has styled for today. But first, I’m sharing a classic summer look with white jean shorts.
First, let’s go ahead and address the elephant in the room. Yes, unfortunately this breezy chambray shirt is too large for me. I don’t know what possessed me to order the medium. Sometimes I just revert back to my old ways, I guess. But I’m returning it for the small. That’s how much I like this shirt otherwise.
I love the classic look of white denim and chambray. Add some leather accessories and a splash of leopard print and you’ve got an upscaled, casual summer look.
I’ve got the shirt tucked in only in the front. But you could also either tuck it in all around or leave it untucked, unbutton the bottom two buttons or so and tie it in the front.
Now let’s talk about these shorts. Score!
These white denim shorts fit oh so nicely TTS and feature a trending button up closure. They have a high rise and a 7″ rolled inseam or 9″ unrolled inseam. The fabric is a nice weight and has just the right amount of stretch. I’m linking these shorts to several different retailers in the widget, but Dillard’s has the best price and size selection. And remember, you can order online with Dillard’s and pick up at the store for no shipping cost.
I kept my accessories simple with gold jewelry (links in the shopping widget) and just a touch of animal print in my belt. Then I added my favorite leather tote and leather slides for a casual but classic summer look.
You could just as easily mix up the accessories a little by wearing these leopard print slides (or other animal print shoes) and wearing a leather belt instead. Or keep the leopard print belt and wear these platform slides in metallic jute. You have so many options when you marry classic pieces like these white denim shorts and chambray top. And I just love this classic summer look.
And that’s the beauty of building a wardrobe of classic essentials like this chambray shirt and white denim shorts. It’s versatile and chic without a lot of fuss or muss. Blessed for My Day
I remember many, many years ago hunting desperately through a department store for my preschool daughter. She was a sly one! And she had removed herself from the safety of her stroller and wandered off while her older brother stayed obediently close by. I finally found her in the handbag department, hiding quietly underneath a large table that was draped with a full length cloth. I wanted to wear out her little hiney! But I enveloped her in my arms instead.
Abigail was just a small, innocent child when I had to go hunting for her. But my Father has had to hunt me down many times, even in my adult years. I’m so grateful that He loves me enough to pursue me. And my bet is that He has sought you and brought you back into His loving arms before, too. Let’s be oh so thankful today for a God who seeks His lost sheep…and never loses a single one.
I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek your servant,
for I do not forget your commandments. ~ Psalm 119:176
Good morning. I like the denim shorts. I recently bought mine. Thank you for inspirational message. Have a blessed day.
Thanks so much!
Such a classic summer outfit and you look adorable! Love your blog, Kay and always read your blessings at the end of each post! You’re such an inspiration to all of us is SO many ways! Have a Blessed day!
Ahh, thanks so much, Sondra. Your encouragement means so much to me. 🙂
Good morning Kay. Love this look. I have the same outfit on today except instead of shorts I have a white denim skirt for work. Not only is is chic, it’s really comfortable.
Loved Blessed For My Day. I had a similar incident with one of my daughters in a store. I think it’s safe to say we all probably have experienced something like this with our young children. You get so mad but really I was crying tears of relief that I found her safe and sound. I myself have been hunted down many times as an adult but each day is a fresh start.
Hey, great minds think alike! Sounds perfect! Thanks so much for sharing. 🙂
The Blessed for My Day story and message are a sweet reminder. Thank you, as always, for brightening my morning.
The versatile pieces you styled today, remind me that I have similar items in my closet that I never thought to wear together. Wow. Love the button detail on the shorts. I must add that that lipstick shade is stunning on you. Just curious, would you please share the shade and product line? Anyways, take care and enjoy you day!
Hello Chyra. Thanks for your sweet words. I always appreciate you gals let me know how you enjoyed a post or blessing. The lipstick I’m wearing is Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy lipstick in Rebellious Rose. Here’s a link to it: https://shopstyle.it/l/4u83
This is a very classy, but comfortable outfit! I really like everything about that top na dit is a very good color for me to wear. I finally bought a narrow leopard belt, but haven’t worn it yet. I need to expand the size of my box and start putting it with pieces that are a stretch for my brain. We had sun all day yesterday, which took the high back up in the 90’s. Today it’s dark and dreary, with rain moving in, which I don’t mind since this is another stay at home day for us. I am still an infant when it comes to pinning things, like one of your photos, to a board on Pinterest, but I want to do it. Sending you a southern hug and lots of blessings!
Ahh, thanks for that southern hug!! Thanks for being such a loyal reader. ?
This outfit is so summery and fresh. For the challenge today, my husband loves to see me wear dresses. I just received a dress I ordered from Talbots so I may wear it today or this weekend. Thank you Kay for allowing the Holy Spirit to teach you, and speak through you as you share from your heart. The message from BFMD resonates with me as a Mom years ago with my own children; but more importantly, how my Heavenly Father has often brought me back into His arms as I’ve wandered off from Him. I’m extremely thankful for His love and grace and tenderness when I wander down my own path. Have a blessed Wednesday!
Enjoy wearing that dress! Sweet! I’m glad the blessing spoke to you. We certainly have all experienced God’s Grace in this way, even if we don’t acknowledge it. Have a wonderful day. ?
Kay you look so pretty in that color of shirt and I too loved your lipstick color! Yes…a smaller size will fit you a little better but we get the idea;) Your BFMD is such a reminder of how fast we can get “lost”. And…I won’t even play hide-n-seek with the grandkids because it makes me too nervous not knowing where they are and more nervous when they won’t come out!!!!!!!!!!
Oh that’s too funny! But I totally get it! Thanks so much for sharing. ?
I have to agree with others that this blue and your lipstick shade look fantastic on you!
Well I guess I need to wear this shade more often! Thanks so much. ?
