Hello and welcome to Dressed for My Day. Does it feel like summer where you are? Maybe you’ve even already set out on vacation or begun reading your summer reading list. Yeah, even though we don’t officially enter summer until Friday, I think most of us are feeling like the heat is on! Which is why I’m excited to show you this easy breezy blue flutter sleeve tee and the two ways I’ve styled it.

A flutter sleeve top is a great option for us gals who are trying to minimize our upper arms. (In this post I shared more tips for minimizing large upper arms.) And a tie front also helps to create a slenderizing silhouette and a neat appearance without actually tucking your shirt in.

In these first two photos I simply paired this Memphis blue flutter sleeve top with my white skinny jeans. I love white and this shade of blue (or any shade of blue, for that matter!), so this was a natural pairing. I’ve enjoyed these white jeans for two years now, and I find them to be comfortable and pleasantly thick.

But I really purchased this blue flutter sleeve top to wear with these fun split wide leg gauzy pants. These pants are perfectly suitable for dinner out, a group picnic or summer brunch. But I they’d also work well worn over your swimsuit between dips in the pool. I’m wearing a medium in the pants.

For this second pairing, I switched out my leather sandals for my more festive gold sandals. These strappy sandals are 40% off right now with code FRIENDS. Or with that same discount you could get these metallic flip flops in gold or silver even cheaper.

I kept my jewelry the same for both outfits, wearing my gold hoop earrings paired with my moon and star studs and a simple gold bangle. I pulled this red coral necklace from my drawer, but Talbots has just recently come out with a similar one (even prettier!) that you can get for 40% off with code FRIENDS. Oh, and the gold hoops and gold bangle are also 40% off with code FRIENDS.

Tomorrow I’m pairing up with another sweet blogger to share a casual 4th of July outfit, but if you have a party or gathering to attend on Independence Day this outfit would be perfect for the occasion. I think it would also be great to pack for most any summer vacation, serving in multiple ways.

Blessed for My Day

Have you ever prayed for something over and over, and yet felt like your prayers weren’t accomplishing anything? I find that when I’m growing frustrated in my petitions it’s often because I’m not really asking…I’m telling. Yep, I tend to try to tell God exactly how to handle my situations. I might even give Him a few options, plans A and B or even C.

But not once has God answered a prayer exactly the way I told Him to. Go figure. In fact, I’ve found that my prayers are much more effective when I spend that time acknowledging that He is God and I am not, that He knows best and I do not, and that He is good and trustworthy all the time. If you’ve been praying and praying with no results, maybe it’s time to change the posture of your prayer, too.

Then Job answered the Lord and said, “Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth. I have spoken once, and I will not answer; twice, but I will proceed no further.” ~ Job 40: 3-5

xoxo, Kay
