I suppose black and white never really go out of style, but this standard yet striking combination seems to be dominating the racks in many boutiques right now. I’ve also noticed the butterfly motif has been making a noticeable flutter in fashion as well. So this Talbots Butterfly Fantasy sweater paired with my tailored Chatham ankle pants felt like a win all the way.
This simple little sweater has a sort of mini peplum or flutter hem that keeps the ensemble fun and feminine. And the butterflies on the back are a sweet surprise.
The sweater is comfortable and easy to wear, no fuss or bother. And I love that it is machine washable. Just lay flat to dry. My summer clothes need to be easy like that. And this is definitely a sweater that can be worn through spring and summer.
I’m wearing a necklace and two bracelets from James Avery. This Texas-based jeweler has been a favorite of mine for more than 20 years. With their headquarters in west Texas, they’ve expanded into many other states, and also have counters in most Dillard’s stores. I love the quality of their jewelry, but also their styles, many of which are symbols of faith.
My favorite thing about this Chatham ankle pants from Talbots is that they are not lined. So many white dress slacks are lined, and I just can’t handle that in the temperatures where I live. These ankle pants are made of a 53% cotton/41% rayon/6% spandex blend that is heavy enough for modesty, but light enough for spring and summer comfort. They are also available in curvy fit.
I’m wearing my woven slides from Target, but they are no longer in stock on the website. I found these black Yvette slides however that are just as stylish and reasonably priced at Target. I also like these macrame strap slides that have a bit more of a heel.
Today (Monday) Talbots has extended their 50%-Off-One-Regular-Price-Item sale. So it would be a great day to check out these two pieces or others you’ve been considering buying.
The nice thing about black and white is that it really just holds its own. There’s no need for a lot of embellishment. Do you like to wear black and white?
I’m not creating a shopping widget today because for some reason I can’t get the sweater to show up there. But the links in the post above will take you to where you need to go to shop for these items.
I’m spending my last full day in Georgia with my parents and my daughter today. I’m having lunch with a dear friend as well. Then I’m flying home to my honey tomorrow. I’m really looking forward to getting home to him, but I’ve enjoyed a couple of beautiful spring weeks here, too. I’m so grateful.
Tomorrow I’m posting a beauty essential post that I think you’ll want to check out. I hope your week is off to a great start. Let’s make it a good one!
Blessed for My Day
Sometimes I struggle with prioritizing. Whether it’s what to work on, which goals to work toward first, where to put my energy or how to spend my time, I struggle to know where to begin. But the Bible helps us set our priorities. In Matthew 5:24 Jesus prioritizes relationships over religious ritual. In Matthew 6:33 He assigns God’s kingdom more weight than our own agenda. And in Matthew 7:5 Jesus lets us know that before we can help others with their bad habits or annoying behavior we should first carefully examine ourselves and deal with our own sin. Today I’m asking the Lord to help me prioritize my day so that it lines up with His priorities.
You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the dish, so that the outside of it may become clean also. ~ Matthew 23:26
