Hello, and welcome to Dressed for My Day! I’m so thrilled that you stopped in today. My goal is to inspire and help women like you and me to dress beautifully and appropriately for our unique days so we can engage graciously and authentically with those around us and influence them well. And one of the reasons I do just that is because there are younger women watching us. Oh yes they are!
Today I’m pairing up with my 25 year-old daughter Abigail to share some sweet casual summer looks. You’ll see there’s quite a difference in how we dress. We’re definitely generations apart! But it’s important to me that Abigail sees her mom as someone who still puts in the effort to look and feel beautiful.
One of the easiest ways to bring a contemporary vibe to our look is simply to wear current colors. When we older gals wear a little color it brings us out of the shadows and back onto center stage.
I’m wearing an 8 in these zinnia orange cuffed cropped jeans. And my tie-dye top is a small.
Okay, get ready to meet my gal! Abigail keeps me hopping. She’s full of life and energy. Oh my.
Abigail is wearing an x-small top and size 2 jean shorts. Her boyfriend linen shirt is a small.
Abby has a real knack for taking photos with her Fuji Instax mini camera. She has used this little camera constantly for the past few years. If you’re ever looking for a fun gift for a young woman or teen girl, this camera is it.
Another thing Abigail is stuck on is her Teva original universal sandals. I think these are her third pair. She lives in these things all summer and beyond. And she swears they are oh so comfortable. My girl has even been known to wear them with socks. Oh, yes she does!
Oh to be 25!!
I know I was short on words today. Honestly, when I look at photos of Abby there just are no words. Hahaha! But I hope you enjoyed our casual summer looks. they’re full of pretty colors, comfortable pieces and fun accessories.
Today you’ll need to shop the links in the captions of the photos. I can’t do shopping widget with J.Jill merchandise, so we’ll just leave it at that. But let me know if you have any questions. By the way, the J.Jill links are giving me a hard time for some reason. So if they redirect you to their home page, just copy and paste the item name into their search engine.

Blessed for My Day
Do you let your joy show? Of course, we may need to cultivate our joy before it overflows enough to joy. How can we do that? I find my joy grows as I spend time with others who have joy, as I recount my blessings and name them one by one, as I sing praise songs and as I simply praise the Lord for the things He has miraculously done in my life.
It is good for our joy to show, for it to burst forth with laughter. Then others see our joy and grow curious about the Source. Let’s be sure to let our joy overflow profusely today.
Then our mouth was filled with laughter,
and our tongue with shouts of joy;
then they said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”
The Lord has done great things for us;
we are glad. ~ Psalm 126:2-3

Fabulous photos Kay and Abby!!!! Abby, you are gorgeous like your mother and definitely do not look like you are 25. You look like a teenager…great genes 🙂 ~Lisa~
Thanks for your kind words, Lisa. It was a lot of fun taking photos with Abby. There will be more later in the week or next week. Have a blessed day.
The joy in my life is my daughter. Daughters are truly a gift from God. Abby is beautiful and has that same radiant smile as her mother. My summer vacation is going to Virginia to see my daughter and her family. My son, his daughter, my brother, my husband and I will stay a few days. So, I’m looking forward to us all being together. Thanks for your message on joy. Blessings to you and family.
That all sounds so wonderful. Spending time with family is just the best! Thank you so much for sharing. Have a blessed and beautiful day.
What GREAT pictures of you gals! And those smiles.Joy is very evident in you both!
Ah, thanks Kathy. It was a lot of fun. I especially liked not having quite so much focus on me! Have a great day.
Aren’t daughters a treasure? Abby is as beautiful as her ‘mom’ too! Loved all of the photos of you two and so glad you get to spend time with her, even if it’s only once in a while. You both look darling in your outfits too! Very ‘age appropriate ’ for both of you!
Hi Sondra. Yes, Abby is a joy to me. And to her father, I might add. I think he really enjoyed taking these photos of his girls. Thanks so much for leaving a comment.
What a fun post today! Those photos are filled with joy. I’m glad you had such a good time with Abby, I have two daughters and they are such blessings to me? For our vacation this year we are headed to Montauk, right here on Long Island NY in August and Scottsdale in September, two of my favorite places ??! For today’s challenge I’m wearing leopard sandals, It’s a basic for me?
Hi Deb. Thanks so much for sharing about your daughters and your vacation plans. Fun!! Yes, leopard is a basic for me, too! Have a wonderful day.
What a gorgeous mother and daughter! Love both outfits !
Thanks Ellene. And thank you so much for stopping in today!
Enjoyed the posts today! Beautiful mother & daughter shots!
Anita
You both look beautiful and alive! (but I had to sigh a little at the 25 part too) 😉
I loved your photos with your daughter!! You look like sisters!!
Ahh, thanks Sandra! You’re kind. It was fun shooting the photos with Abby for sure.
So fun to see Abby, again. What a beauty. I am going to see Jodi in Newfoundland and am packing with a layered wardrobe, since it is in the 5o’s and 60’s there, but could get up to 70’s.
Well tell Jodi “hello” for us! What fun that will be. Thanks for sharing, Lezlee!
Fabulous pictures of you and Abby! It’s obvious that she is still at the age that knows how to enjoy being young and carefree, while being a responsible young adult. One of the things I love about the pictures is the bottle of Coca-Cola that y’all had and how you properly positioned it. January 2012 I retired after working at headquarters for 32 years. So, “thank you!” I am going to look into the camera she has for a Christmas gift. Beautiful BFMD! We don’t have any vacation plans. I’m having sinus surgery on Thursday then skin cancer surgery on 7/27, and of course, we have Larry’s regular checkups with the cancer doctor, and my weekly allergy shots. Have a blessed day!
Well, I didn’t know that about you. We’re all big Coca-Cola fans in my household. And, of course, since I’m from Georgia we’re pretty brand loyal. Also, Abigail’s “friend” that was visiting that weekend works at the headquarters, too. 🙂
I don’t know what to say except WOW!
Hahaha! Thanks, Barbara. 🙂
Oh Kay your daughter is just darling! Not that I would want to be 25 again, but it sure looks great on her!
We are headed to the Colorado mountains for a month for our vacation. Looking forward to the fresh air, and the beautiful scenery. The Colorado mountains boast warm sunny days and cool evenings. Everything there is super casual, so feel free to share a few outfits that I may want to purchase for out trip. I mentioned to you (maybe a few months ago), that I was on a quest to lose weight and wanted to invest in some quality jeans when I got closer to my goal. You styled a really cute, but pricey. pair that I just loved, but would not invest until I got my weight under control and now I cant find them on your blog. Dang!! They would have been perfect for our trip. Can you help me out?
Hi Linda. Those sound like wonderful vacation plans. I do love Colorado in the summer! Huh. Can you describe the jeans more for me? Were they just basic blue skinny jeans? Those are probably the priciest I’ve featured. Maybe these Farrah high rise skinny jeans? https://shopstyle.it/l/40Io They’re actually reduced in price right now. Or it could have been these from Talbots: https://shopstyle.it/l/40I1 They’re also reduced. Let me know if it was a different style.
Oh Kay, I loved the pictures of you with your precious daughter,Abby! She is beautiful! I know what it’s like having a daughter living out of state.? Actually, ours lives in Switzerland with her husband and our only grandchild. Of course we are happy for them because they are happy, but we miss them! I am so thankful for technology that allows us to Skyp and FaceTime. I’m so glad you got to enjoy time with your daughter. Thanks for sharing those fun pictures! Have a blessed day!
Thanks Cyndy. Yes, that’s how we feel about our kids living where they do. Happy for them. ? Thanks so much for sharing and for your kind and encouraging words.
Gorgeous! She looks so much like you! Thank you for sharing Abby with us!!
You daughter is beautiful just like her Mother. Going to Charleston SC for a few days this summer. We got engaged there 12 years ago and haven’t been back since. Can’t wait. I love Charleston!
Abby is beautiful just like her mama! Thanks for sharing her with us. My vacation will be a week at the beach in August. Our entire family goes each year (daughter, son and daughter-in-law, and 3 grandsons). Can’t wait for all of us to be together for a week!
I’d have to say joy was quite evident in the smiles and laughter on your faces! You’re very blessed with such a beautiful, sweet family!
It looks like she enjoyed the photo shoot with her mom! I love both of your outfits…and definitely the longer jeans for my age!! Cute blue top too…like the detail. Nice you could do this together.
Such beautiful ladies!! My 16yo loves that camera, too!
Love seeing the pictures of you and your daughter. What a sweet post.
We already took our summer vacation in May, to Oahu, Hawai’i! If you haven’t been, I highly encourage it. I wrote a blog post about it a couple weeks ago. Your daughter is adorable!
Ahh thanks. Yes, she really is. Wow! Hawaii would be amazing!! How wonderful for you!! ?
