Happy Friday, gals! Hahaha! I have to laugh because yesterday I was talking with my daughter on the phone and asked if she was going to church tomorrow. That’s how confused I get when you throw a holiday into the middle of the week! But indeed it’s Friday, so I thought the beginning of the weekend called for a simple cargo pants combo.
There’s just something about khaki and red. Oh, I know! It’s the Target uniform! Ha! Maybe that’s why I like it… After all, I go there a lot! Well, don’t wear this combo to Target then. But it’s classy and easy for anywhere else!
I think the element that brings a little class to this “Target uniform” duo is the splash of leopard print. And, coincidentally, my leopard print belt is from…you guessed it…Target! Okay, I’m totally tickled now. Let’s forget Target.
Well, first I need to tell you that my red t-shirt, which is really not quite this bright, is also from Target. It’s the same shirt as my favorite white, black, navy and gold tees. But the red is out of stock in all sizes. (They have plenty in other colors.) So I found this great two-for deal on Amazon. These t-shirts have gotten great reviews and you can get so many different combinations of colors in your two-pack.
These high waist cargo pants in “flax” are the same as my blue ones in this post. I love the versatility and comfort of both pairs of pants. And I think they’ll get a lot of wear through the fall, too. Can’t you see either pair with a cozy sweatshirt or a simple tee and jacket?
The cargo pants have plenty of stretch in them for comfort, but they don’t stretch out on me as I wear them. I’m wearing a size 8, so I’d say they are true to size.
For this easy cargo pants combo, I kept my jewelry simple but vibrant. I’m wearing this gold Kendra Scott Olive necklace (which has been marked down 50%), my simple gold hoops and a gold bangle. But I recently ordered this bangle, and it would work well with this outfit, too. My silver ring, which I wear all the time, is this one by James Avery.
I could have easily worn my Ecco Yucatan sandals or my saddle leather slides with this sporty cargo pants combo. But I find myself opting for these white leather Keds more often than I thought I would. With my no-show socks underneath, they are so very comfortable. And I’ve really had no trouble keeping these Keds white.
I carry my English saddle leather tote almost every day. And it has been super handy on the airplane trips I’ve made recently. When traveling I generally tuck my small rose studded camera bag inside it so that I have a smaller shoulder bag to use as well.
Really, on cool evenings or mornings, when I go out to see a movie or spend a day shopping, this is the kind of outfit you’ll see me in.

FASTer Way to Fat Loss Begins Monday
I love sharing my experience with the FASTer Way to Fat Loss with my readers because this program has proven to be a sustainable, workable lifestyle shift for me. I’ve lost and kept off 20 pounds for over two years now using the precepts in the FWTFL. If you need to lose a lot of weight or a few pounds, if you need to go the extra mile or get off the couch, if you’d like to tone up or get well, you are worth the cost and the effort.
You can learn more about my experience with the FWTFL in this post. Or you can check out their website and register for this effective program here. Finally, if you’ve already finished a round or are in the intro program, you can sign up for the monthly FWTFL membership program here.
PLUS I just learned that Amanda Tress, the FWTFL founder, is giving new registrants an amazing STARTER KIT filled with a FASTer Way t-shirt, her new book and a quality exercise band. I’m SO JEALOUS! This is a great time to register.
Blessed for My Day
I used to be afraid of the dark. I slept with a night light until just about ten years ago. But I’m not scared of things going bump in the night anymore. I do, however, grow a little anxious if I awaken in the wee hours of the night. My thoughts tend to lead me down dark corridors during those hours. I imagine the worst, fear the unknown, fret over things undone and rack up long lists of things I need to do the next day but worry that I’ll never accomplish. Can you relate?
I’ve learned to still my anxious heart during these fretful times by reminding myself that my thoughts are not rational. Convinced that I will surely see things differently in the light of the day, I hand my concerns over to God in prayer and trust that He is thinking much more clearly than I am at that time of night. Ha! Of course, He is. Since I began this practice, those dark thoughts do not hold me captive nearly as long as they used to.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
and the light about me be night,”
even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you. ~ Psalm 139:11-12
Kay, you are to funny! I am right there with you about getting confused on the day of the week when there is a holiday. It gets worse when you are retired and only have 6 Saturdays and 1 Sunday in each week. I also love shopping at Target, even though I have to do that online more now. I like your outfit and love the leopard belt and white Keds. I still need to order the no show socks like you wear to see if my toes will be happier in them than the brands I currently have. At some point today I am going to add a picture of my OOTD to the challenge FB page, that you will recognize. ?. Good luck with the packing process!
Hahaha! Yes, I think I have finally wrapped my brain around it being Friday. I have jury duty next week so that will throw another wrench in my calendar!! Have a great weekend, Ginger. ?
Great outfit! Love how it’s so simple, yet still looks pulled together and fashionable!! Good luck tackling your office!! I need to do that to, but it’s hard to make myself do it – too many other fun things I want to get done or go and do!!! Blessings to you for a great day!
Thanks so much Danelle. We’ll see if I actually get to the office. Ha! I’m a major procrastinator, but I’ve got to at least tidy and clean out a little before we get the house on the market next week.
I love and look forward to your posts each day, Kay! You are so real and warm, and your love for the Lord shines through in all of your words! Your thoughts today on waking up at night full of worry and dread really resonated with me. I, too, have had to learn to give it to the Lord, and trust that He will help me see things in a more manageable light in the morning. Good luck with your packing and move!
Thanks Julie for sharing. I think this struggle is so common to us women. But I’ve just decided it’s a tactic of the enemy and I (try to) refuse to listen to my thoughts in the middle of the night. Thank you so much for sharing. And thanks for your kind words about the blog. Means so much to me! ?
So true about the middle of the night thinking! Problems seem gigantic at 3 am ?! I am certainly glad our God never sleeps and is on it! I try to remind myself of that when I wake with worry.
Yes me too, Susan. Thanks so much for sharing!! ?
Kay, I just signed up for VIP under your name. It’s been over a year since I completed round one which was very successful but I did not stick with it. So here goes! Hoping it “sticks” this time. We already eat mostly healthy, but I do have a sweet tooth. I ordered a set of t-shirts you recommended and I have that leopard Target belt!
Jury duty for me, too, this week. Fingers crossed that neither of us gets selected! I was picked once long ago and we were sequestered for one night. Ugh!
Wishing you a great week!
Oh my. Yeah, I do hate to say that I hope I don’t get picked but that’s the truth! I just don’t have time for it. But then again probably no one else does either!!
