Happy Monday, lovely gals! Are you ready to start your week? My weekend flew by fast and furious, but it was all good, so I can’t complain. But I’m ready to buckle down to work for another week. And I thought we’d begin the week with one of my current style crushes: a classic silky blouse. Today I’m sharing a beautiful blush blouse and black jeans styled three ways.

Here’s what we’re working with. I’m wearing a classic, button-up, silky 100% polyester, vintage blush blouse. That’s a mouthful! But the description doesn’t take anything away from the simple elegance of this timeless, feminine shirt. This top features a shirttail hem with a subtle curve, so you could wear it untucked if you prefer. I’ve tucked mine into my black skinny jeans and added a black reversible belt.

By the way, I’m wearing a medium in the shirt from Ann Taylor and my usual size 6 in the jeans from Talbots.

Getting Down to Business

First I got down to business by topping my classic pairing with my tailored black blazer. I’m wearing a size 8, so go with your lower size if you, like me, waffle between two.

But I added a little modern touch to my classic pairing with my leopard booties. These run true to size. I bought them on sale back in the spring, but they’re full price now. Recently I saw these at Target and they’re a much more economical version. I didn’t try them on, but they looked like a great option for a trendy shoe.

For all three looks I kept my jewelry the same. (It was oh so hot and I was doing all I could do to switch out jackets and cardigans! Hahaha! Just keeping it real!) I wore my adjustable palm leaf necklace (alternative option)and my large teardrop earrings with one gold bangle on my wrist.

Having a Little Fun

Next I created a fun look by topping my classic blush blouse and black jeans with this chic snake print denim trucker jacket.

Snake Print Trucker Jacket

I’m wearing a small in this roomy jacket. By the way, it’s a soft denim and feels oh so comfortable. This chic jacket is marked down 30% right now at Bloomingdale’s. Loyalists get free shipping and free return shipping, no minimum, every day at Bloomingdale’s. Sign up for free!

For even more fun I wore my ivory croc embossed leather flats. They’re considerably marked down right now and available in several great colors. They run true to size for me. I also added my black hobo bag to this outfit.

Keeping It Soft and Chic

For my final look with my blush blouse and black jeans, I kept it soft and chic.

I picked up this cashmere blend long cardigan at a much better price during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and of course it’s full price now. But if you’re interested, “favorite” it so you’ll receive a notice when it gets marked down again. It’s available in several other beautiful shades (I have the black, too) and it runs a tad large. I’m wearing the small.

Oh, and here’s a more economical option, too.

To balance the taupe colored cardigan, I wore my taupe suede booties and carried my taupe handbag, both purchased last year. You’ll be seeing these for years to come, in fact. But these booties are probably the latest version of mine, and check out these from Target for an economical find.

Finally, Michael Kors is having their fall sale right now, so you can get 25% off your purchase. That’s the kind of sale they were having when I purchased my already discounted bag. I love this truffle colored satchel (same color as mine) that’s marked down. And you get to take another 25% off that price.

Blessed for My Day

Sometimes we hold our dreams close to our heart, afraid they are silly and will wobble like Jell-O when we try to explain them. Or maybe we just can’t get our words around them; there’s a passion and a vision, but words seem to fall short. Then again, we can be fearful of other people’s reactions to our bigger-than-life dreams.

But I’ve found that when God really has planted a dream within my heart, eventually it has to take on words and I have to say them out loud…to someone else. It’s like watching a tiny seed sprout into a little plant that pokes its head out of the ground. Sure, it’s fragile. But sister, if God’s planted it, He’ll take care of it…just as He did for Joseph. I encourage you to put words to y our dreams. You may find that the words have to change over the years, but the dream really doesn’t. I imagine, in fact, that Joseph would concur. ~ taken from Joseph, Keeping a Soft Heart in a Hard Place

Then he dreamed another dream and told it to his brothers and said, “Behold, I have dreamed another dream. Behold, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” But when he told it to his father and to his brothers, his father rebuked him. ~ Genesis 37:9-10a

  1. Love these kind of posts….showing us how to style an outfit more than one way! It really makes our wardrobe go so much farther that way.

    1. Hi Sondra. I’m glad you enjoyed the post. Yes, I think it’s so important to think of at least 3 ways you can wear something before you even purchase it. Thanks for reading and sharing. ?

  2. Love the outfits but mostly the “Blessed for the day.” My prayer lately has been because I am “holding my dreams close to my heart.” For fear and security mostly. . . . Thanks for your insight and prayers.

  3. Good morning! I clicked on the book link, and found ALL the books you’ve written with the Amazon link. Holy cow gal! When I read “author” in the about you section of the blog, I had no idea you had written so many! Congrats!

  4. I love seeing pieces styled several ways and including some of the current trends. I’ve been incorporating more blouses into my wardrobe. This gives ideas for shopping my closet!

    1. Great! Well you’ll definitely be seeing me style more blouses! Ha! I figure they’re a great way to look pretty but also be comfortable. ?

  5. These are all great looks! I don’t do snake prints, but the jacket looks great on you! My favorite of these is the last one with the long cardigan! They are so practical this time of the year!
We had a bat flying around our bedroom a few months ago, one of the cats must have brought it into the house. I ended up locking myself into the bathroom until hubby took care of it. Thank goodness for brave men!! And the bat flew away once outside and he recovered from the shock of being caught.

  6. Kay, thank you for showing us three different looks with the same top and pants! You are reminding me that with patience and some mental work, I can create multiple outfits with some of my basic pieces. My favorite look is the one with the snakeskin print jacket. I hope that you have had a productive day!
