Hi gals! And welcome to Dressed for My Day. I hope to provide a little outfit inspiration today. I’m sharing a beautiful black floral blouse paired with blue jeans and topped with my black leather moto jacket. I’d say this combo is flirty and fierce!

Ruffles, Denim and Leather, Oh My!

Let’s start with the leather jacket. I bit the bullet during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and invested in a genuine leather jacket. While it was significantly reduced, it was still an investment purchase. But to me that’s the best use of that sale. Mine is sold out, but there is a wide selection to choose from. In fact, I’ve got a shopping widget full of genuine and faux leather jackets below.

My best suggestion is to read the reviews and size accordingly. Sometimes sleeves run tight. That was my biggest challenge, and I ended up with a jacket that has an elastic panel in the sleeves to allow for more room and flexibility.

I also suggest choosing a leather or suede jacket in a neutral that works well with most of your wardrobe. And remember, you can easily wear a brown jacket with black accessories and vice versa.

Really, the star of this outfit, though, is this lovely dark floral blouse. It’s a sheer chiffon blouse with a lining in the bodice. The colors are beautiful and I especially appreciate the dainty smocking and ruffles at the wrists and neck. This feminine blouse comes in three other color combinations, but I’m wearing the black in a small.

I tucked my pretty blouse only into the front of my favorite AG jeans (marked down 33%!). Then I added my black suede booties and carried my black leather hobo. My bag is no longer reduced, but here’s a vegan hobo that’s a sweet deal and oh so cool.

My black suede booties run true to size. They’re a comfortable 1 3/4″ heel and come in several other pretty shades.

I love having pretty blouses like this in my fairly casual wardrobe. They mix easily with both jeans and dress slacks or skirts. And they’re perfect for church or a date night.

This is the kind of outfit I often wear for a night out or special gathering with friends. It feels pretty, contemporary and comfortable.

Blessed for My Day

We have a choice, you know. Even though we are saved by grace and promised an eternal home with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, we still have a choice about how we live out our days on earth. We can follow His commands and serve Him well…or not.

But let’s remember, sister, that when we choose to do things our way instead of clinging to Him and obeying His voice, there will be consequences. There have been times in my life when I lived contrary to what I knew was right simply because it “felt” better. But those choices caught up with me and cost me something further down the road. Today let’s choose to hold fast to Him. He really does know what’s best.

You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear him and keep his commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and hold fast to him. ~ Deuteronomy 13:4

xoxo, Kay

  1. Great fall outfit! I love it! Temps are finally falling in North Texas, so I’m hopeful I can wear this look soon! Have a blessed day!

  2. You look fabulous in this outfit Kay and the blouse is gorgeous! And another awesome BFMD! Here in south central Georgia it’s finally starting to feel like fall.

  3. Such a beautiful and classy outfit on a beautiful and classy lady! This is my kind of outfit from head to toe! Prayers that no other tech issues arise. ??

  4. Hi Kay, new to your blog etc but happy to have found you. Love the look for today, but honestly I cannot see myself spending $89 on the floral blouse. Any chance of you being able to have at least one alternative from another retailer (for less money). Perhaps you have done so in the past, as I said I am a newbie. Thanks!!

    1. Hi Carole. You’re right. I normally do when items are on the pricey side. Honestly I was just exhausted when I wrote this post and didn’t manage to do a very good job giving options. Here’s a great option that’s on sale: https://shopstyle.it/l/8YmE or https://shopstyle.it/l/8YmP
Thanks for asking. Don’t ever hesitate to ask. I often forget to include something in a post, whether it’s sizing, alternate options or jewelry details.

      1. Thanks so much, Kay! Exhaustion is a bummer. You are doing an excellent job, and I appreciate your hard work. “heart”

  5. Hello Kay, I am also new to your blog and I love your style and your love for our Lord, Jesus Christ. I actually buy most of my clothes second-hand and I try to find classic styles that seem to remain constant, updated by some accessories. Buying a year in advance when shoes go on sale is another way I save money. Thank you for your efforts, we are truly blessed!

    1. Welcome to Dressed for My Day! I’m so glad you found your way here. Thanks for sharing. I admire people who shop second-hand. I don’t have the patience for it, myself. But I know it is a truly great way to save money and look great.

  6. Love a black leather jacket! Love your choice! The feminine blouse is a very pretty contrast with the edgy jacket! Can’t wait to try this style myself!
