Happy humpday! Of course, since I didn’t post on Monday and had a wedding on Sunday afternoon, I’m all off on the day of the week. Plus, my daughter’s departure date is fast approaching, and I don’t like that at all. But Wednesday it is! I thought this would be a good day to share with you some more mirror selfies of how I really dressed for my day recently. If you missed it, you can see part one of this set of daily outfit posts here.

How I Really Dressed for My Day October Part 2

These are the clothes, shoes, jewelry and bags I’m really loving and wearing.

I think much of what I’m showing in this post is still available. But if I show you things I’ve had in my closet for a while or things that have sold out, I’ll try to match you up with a comparable substitute that is available.

SIZING

I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 150. I have an X or hourglass shape and fairly even proportions. I generally wear smalls or maybe mediums in shirts, tops, dresses, coats, etc. I almost always take an 8 in pants, skirts or dresses. But in jeans I vacillate pretty evenly between 8s and 6s.

So that I can write more about styling, let’s assume that everything I’m showing you fits TRUE TO SIZE unless I tell you otherwise. And I will tell you. How’s that? But you want to know about a particular garment, just let me know in the comments section.

How I Really Dressed for My Day

As I mentioned in the last How I Really Dressed for My Day Post, I have regrettably forgotten where I wore most of these outfits. But these are indeed daily outfit posts. Perhaps I wore this leopard print cardigan and bootcut jeans to a luncheon at our church hosted by a class of senior adult women.

leopard print cardigan and jeans
barely bootcut jeans in tall and hemmed, run large, wearing size 6 // leopard print cardigan // brown long sleeved t-shirt // necklace // suede booties (more economical option)// shoulder bag (more economical options)

What I Like About this Look:

I don’t wear bootcut jeans often, but I really like these from Christopher and Banks. They feel great, but they do run a tad large. I’m wearing a 6 and they’re roomy. I also love this leopard print cardigan. It’s basic and classic, but it’s a great way to add animal print without going wild!

There’s no shopping widget for this look, but you can shop the links in the photo caption. These are all affiliate links, so if you purchase anything while shopping through them, I potentially earn a commission, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you for shopping through my links and supporting what I do here at Dressed for My Day.

Long Green Cardigan
white v-neck t-shirt //high waist ankle skinny jeans // long green cardigan (not available in green) option in green thyme // leopard print belt bag (sold out – option 1, option 2) // booties (more economical option)

What I Like About this Look:

This thyme green cardigan is lightweight and comfortable. It’s also sold out in the green, but this one is the same brand and same shade of green. Leith brand sweaters generally run large, so size down. I’m wearing a small. I also love my leopard print belt bag that I bought from J.Jill. Alas, it, too, is sold out. But I’ve included other great options in the shopping widget above.

I do know for a fact that I wore the following classic and elegant suit outfit to church one Sunday recently.

Black Suit
black straight leg slacks // animal print blouse (similar – more in shopping widget) // black blazer // black handbag (more economical option) // suede pumps (similar lower priced option) // necklace // bangle (similar)

What I Like About this Look:

In case you haven’t been hanging around Dressed for My Day long, let me introduce you to my very favorite black pants ever. These sleek black trousers from Nic + Zoe are just the bomb. They are slimming, comfortable and modern, but oh so classic. They’re not cheap, but cost per wear they’ve been a bargain for me. I love to pair them with my black blazer (another cost/wear bargain) because it gives the appearance of a suit, but these are really separates. With an animal print blouse, you can’t go wrong with this classic combo.

I’m pretty sure I wore the following silky shirt with the same black trousers above to church and then came home and changed into these girlfriend jeans. I later wore this outfit to our church business meeting and out to dinner with friends.

Silky blouse and jeans
girlfriend jeans // silky shirt in vintage blush // reversible belt // croc embossed shoes// necklace // bangle (similar)

What I Like About this Look:

I’m crushing on silky blouses this year. I love the femininity of them, the versatility and the ease of wear. I especially love wearing them with jeans for a sweet juxtaposition. I’m also enjoying my white croc embossed flats. They’re comfortable and trendy but elegant.

I wore the following jeans and sweater combo out shopping and to lunch one day.

How I Really Dressed for My Day October
mock neck sweater (not in this color, but available in three other shades) // straight leg jeans (run long, I’ll need to hem) // snakeskin embossed leather booties (reduced) // leather belt bag (greatly reduced) // necklace (not in widget)

What I Like About this Look:

I love the simplicity of this jeans and sweater combo. The sweater is no longer available in this red ochre color, but I really love the burgundy stem. And the snakeskin boots and belt bag really pull this outfit together. By the way, these boots are amazingly comfortable and have recently been moved to Nordstrom Rack where the price has been dropped significantly.

This next outfit is mostly made up of pieces from last winter, but you can duplicate it with the items I’ve linked to. I wore this to dinner out one night.

How I Really Dressed for My Day October
plaid blouse // black corduroy straight leg pants // black reversible belt // black puffer vest // black hobo bag (similar more economical options) // black suede booties

What I Like About this Look:

The cords and plaid shirt are last year’s purchases, but the pants are still available in several great colors and similar shirts are part of Talbots’ new line as well. But I recently picked up this sleek black puffer vest with the detachable faux fur collar. I think it’s so snazzy! Right now you can get 40% off one full-price item at Talbots with code TREAT40 and everything else at 30% off.

Next up, I paired my corduroy jeggings and my chambray top for an easy work day at home. But I slipped on my belt bag instead of carrying a purse when it was time to run some errands.

corduroy jeggings
chambray shirt // corduroy jeggings // suede loafers // belt bag (similar lower price option)

What I Like About this Look:

You just can’t beat cords and a chambray shirt. So classic and easy. I love that I can accessorize this duo with a wide belt, a belt bag, a pretty scarf or a puffer vest. Start with the basics like cords and chambray and you can do so many things!

One Sunday I showed up at church in this cheetah print skirt and it seemed like every other woman had on animal print, too. Ha! I guess you could say it was a zoo! Hehehe! Anyhow, I got lots of compliments on this trio. The skirt is from last year, the tank is even older and I’ve had the denim jacket since my grown kids were babies, but all of this is still current and available.

leopard print skirt
animal print skirt (similar – more in shopping widget) // silky black tank // denim jacket // suede pumps // black hobo bag (more economical option) // necklace // similar bangle

What I Like About this Look:

I love the blend of animal print and a denim jacket . And in this particular look, I love the way the suede pumps pick up the same color in the skirt. but I’d also love this combination with white or black fashion sneakers.

Next up, I wore this combination for a day of running errands and working from home. Of course, I just took off the jacket when I got behind my desk.

plaid jacket and jeans
graphic t-shirt (sold out – similar) // plaid blazer // girlfriend jeans // suede loafers // similar satchel (similar for less)

What I Like About this Look:

I love the look of a graphic tee with a sharp, trending blazer like this long plaid one.

Finally, I wore this plaid wool blend skirt and chambray shirt when I was out running errands last Thursday. I felt warm, sporty and casual in this classic combo, especially with my faux leather lace-up boots.

plaid wool skirt
plaid wool blend skirt // chambray shirt // red puffer vest (similar) // belt bag // boots // tights // bangle

What I Like About this Look:

I picked up these sporty boots at Target because I thought they’d be a great option for when I don’t want to wear my nicer knee high boots or booties. The faux leather looks good and the inner zipper makes for easy on and off. Plus they’re comfortable and youthful.

Remember, a number of the pieces in this post are from Talbots. If you use code TREAT40, you can receive one regular price item for 40% off and everything else for 30% off.

Blessed for My Day

Have you ever caught yourself so intent on winning an argument that you realize you’ve stopped listening to the other person and begun building your case? I certainly have. But I heard a wise piece of advice once that has stuck with me and helped me to enter into “disagreements” a little differently. I was encouraged to fight for “us” rather than fight for the win.

When I remember that “we” – our relationship, our unity, our friendship, our mutual respect – is much more important than being right, I’m more prone to listen than calculate my next move. When I fight for “us,” I want to truly understand where my friend, partner or spouse is coming from. I want to hear their heart rather than catch them tripping up on their words. And I want them to feel good about our conversation more than I want to feel victorious over them.

A fool takes no pleasure in understanding,
but only in expressing his opinion. ~ Proverbs 18:2
