Easy Black and Gold Holiday Style

Happy Friday, dear gals! Did you stuff yourself or show restraint? Ha! I definitely ate my fill, but I didn’t feel miserable. We also took in the A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood movie about Mr. Rogers. It was delightful, and such a nice addition to our day. And later we played the Wingspan game I suggested in my Gift Guide for Young Men. It was a little complicated to learn, but once I got the hang of it I thoroughly enjoyed playing. And it’s such a pretty game, too. I guess you have to see it to know what I mean. But it’s definitely a high quality game.

Anyhoo! Enough about all that. Today I’m sharing with you a look that is completely marked down 40-50% as a result of the fantastic Black Friday sales going on. (Be sure to check out my Black Friday and Cyber Monday Shopping Headquarters for continued sale updates!) I love this easy black and gold holiday style and it’s so simple to copy in a variety of ways.

Everything I’m sharing in this look is from my closet except I added the gold shimmer ribbed turtleneck. Isn’t it amazing how just one shiny, fun piece like this turtleneck can dress an outfit up to party level?

Easy Black and Gold Holiday Style

This turtleneck is the perfect weight for layering under a sweater or wearing by itself. I’m wearing a medium for a roomier fit, but there’s lots of stretch in this shirt for a closer fit if you prefer to go with your smaller size.

Gold Turtleneck

I added the shimmer turtleneck to my black velvet straight leg pants that I’ve had for several years. But I tried on these at Talbots and they’re the same fit. I’m wearing my usual size 8 and they’re true to size.

Gold Turtleneck

You could certainly wear this loose draping turtleneck untucked if you prefer, but I simply gave it a front tuck. I think it makes the outfit look a little more current and youthful to show the belt. In fact, this silk suede belt with a bedazzled buckle would be another nice touch to this outfit.

Gold Turtleneck

I think I’ve mentioned here that I’ve misplaced my black suede pumps in our recent move and can’t find them. So I bit the bullet and sprang for these suede bow pumps when they were 50% off recently. Guess what? They’re 50% off still! They fit true to size and they’re extremely comfortable (for heels) and easy to wear.

Whether you’re just dressing up a little for an office party, heading out to lunch with your sorority sisters or going out to dinner with friends, this black puffer vest with the detachable faux fur collar is the perfect topper for this easy black and gold holiday look. The vest is from Talbots, where you can get one item for 50% off today, only through noon. But you can get rest of your purchases for 40% off all day.

Because there’s so much shimmer in the turtleneck, I elected not to wear a necklace. I just added a pretty gold bangle and simple, but elegant black and faux diamond stud earrings. My bangle is not available, but this gold, silver and pearl sparkle stretch bracelet would work even better.

Finally, I carried my gold metallic wristlet from last year. This one is very similar, and it’s 40% off at Talbots today.

I don’t keep everything I share here at Dressed for My Day, but I kept this shimmer turtleneck. This is my style to a T! In fact, I wore this very outfit on a date with my husband last week. In my book, this easy black and gold holiday look is a winner from now throughout winter. And it’s all available for 40-50% off. That’s a win!

Blessed for My Day

Hopefully we all spent a little bit of time expressing our heartfelt thanksgiving to God yesterday. Of course, expressing our gratitude needs to be a daily habit, not just a yearly tradition. But I’m grateful we live in a country that still values a day of thanksgiving.

But today I’m reminded that our thankfulness should not be a secret between us and our God. Instead, we need to brag a little on the goodness of our God. We’ll truly develop and nurture an attitude of gratitude when we daily tell others about the faithfulness, power, love and provision of our God. When we tell and show others that we do not worry about tomorrow but instead trust a faithful God to continue to provide, we will find that they are drawn to Him, too. And that’s the sweetest fruit of our grateful hearts.

Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! ~ 1 Chronicles 16:8

xoxo, Kay
