About now I start realizing that I need to get a little something for this person or that. Know how I mean? Once I have my kids taken care of, I start thinking of getting a little gift for a friend, my hairdresser, the gal who grooms my dog or my Bible study leader. Blessed for My Day
By the time Jesus arrived at the home of Mary and Martha, their brother had been dead for over three days. Their hope had been extinguished and grief had set in. But in the context of Mary and Martha’s despair, Jesus spoke the words below. He spoke of life where they had lost hope. And then He did the miraculous. He actually brought to life that which had begun to rot from death.
Maybe there is something in your life that you have written off as dead. It’s over. There is no hope. And, quite honestly, it stinks. But Christmas is a good time to remember that Jesus is the resurrection and the life. He may or may not resurrect your dream, your relationship, that thing which once flourished. But He can absolutely breathe new life into your broken and hurting heart. Turn to Him and live.
