Happy Wednesday, dear gal! In fact, Wednesdays are becoming special days here at Dressed for My Day beginning with this one. Every Wednesday from here on out I’ll be posting a style or beauty video to my new YouTube Channel: Dressed for My Day with Kay Harms. Or at least that’s the plan. Ha! Yes, today is my official YouTube debut.

YouTube Channel Debut

Please be Patient

While I wanted to start today off with a bang, I found I needed to go with something more familiar and comfortable instead. Everything else – the videography, editing, post production promotion and setup – was so new to me. So I kept the content for today’s video safely in my wheelhouse.

I’m simply sharing four ways to style the all-too-familiar white poplin popover from Talbots. But I still think you may learn a new trick or two if you watch the video. Still, I have to admit, I wasn’t nearly as smooth and eloquent and captivating as I’d hoped to be in this first video. Hahaha! But if we waited for that before I launched, we might be waiting until Christmas! And you have to start somewhere. Right?

So be patient with me and I promise my delivery will get better and eventually I’ll hit my stride. I already have next week’s video “in the can,” but I’m taking requests for future topics. So chime in and let me know what you’d like to see. Let’s just keep it pretty simple for a while though, okay? Yes, I’ll gladly show you how to apply false eye lashes. But give me a little while on that one!

How You Can Help

I am so grateful for the community of women we have built here. And I know many of you really want to support this new venture. Even if you’re not a big YouTube watcher, you can definitely help me get this venture off the ground by doing a few simple things.

Subscribe to My Channel

You can subscribe to my channel, and that helps tremendously. When you go to your YouTube home page, my videos will show up in your subscriptions so you can find them easily. Eventually, there will be a lot of them!

My Channel is at: http://www.youtube.com/c/DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms

Ring that Bell

Beside the “Subscribe” button, you’ll find a small bell. If you click the bell so that the plain bell shows, you’ll receive some notifications when I upload new videos. If the bell has a strike through it, you will not receive notifications. If the bell has ringer marks around it, you’ll receive notifications with every single upload. You can choose how you receive alerts in your settings.

Give Me a Thumbs Up

If you like the video, I’d love, love, love it if you’d click on the thumbs up sign. That simply indicates you enjoyed the video, and it raises the video in the analytics so others, especially those who have similar viewing taste as you, will potentially have the video recommended to them.

You can also leave comments under YouTube videos. You can just say hi and tell me you watched or you can say something more significant. But comments help in the YouTube platform even more than they do here on my blog. They raise that video in the analytics so that it will potentially be recommended to other viewers who have similar taste to you.

Share the Video

You can share my video right there in the YouTube platform. The “share” button is right there beside the “thumbs down” button. (ooh…)You can also just copy the address of my video from the navigation bar and paste it into an email or text to share with a friend who might be interested. And you can upload my videos to Facebook, too. AND you can even save my videos to your Pinterest board.

So yeah, there’s a lot you can do to help make my YouTube debut successful and to help me build my channel. Thank you so much for being willing to do that.

Today’s Video

So without further fanfare, here’s today’s video. You can watch it here or get on your YouTube app or channel to watch. I hope you enjoy it!

I hope you enjoy today’s video!

Don’t Miss a Post:

If you like what you’re seeing here at Dressed for My Day, I invite you to subscribe to my email list. You can receive an email each time I post (about 6 times weekly) or just on Saturdays. You choose! But you’ll also receive the password to open up all the subscriber freebies I offer.

Blessed for My Day

Do you struggle with humility? I’d like to think I’m a pretty humble woman. I don’t like to talk about myself really. And I rarely toot my own horn. Unfortunately those aren’t the only parameters of humility.

My pride still gets the best of me when I demand my own way or think my feelings are more important than those of other people. When I mutter under my breath about the menial chores I have to do in my home and grow frustrated because “someone else” doesn’t do them, I’m not being humble. Humility requires that I step back instead of being first. And it requires that I serve…gladly…rather than demand others meet my needs. How are you doing with humility?

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. ~ Philippians 2:5-8

xoxo, Kay

      1. Yes you did! How can I get a still picture of each of the 4 outfits? I keep a fashion pinterest board to refer back to. I don’t want to watch the video every time I want to style my popover! Just a picture helps me most.

        1. Hahaha! Good question. I don’t have that for this one…or probably the next one either. But I’ll make note of that and make sure we take still shots next time. Thanks for the tip.

  1. I really enjoyed the video. There are Styling tips that you shared that work so well in this medium. Your personality comes through as genuine and sweet. Well done!

  2. Loved the video! I’ve never been a big fan of these pop over shirts but watching you style them, live, I’ve had a change of heart.

  3. I hope my comment showed up on the video. I couldn’t see it, this is new to me too. I wanted you to know how much this northeast Ohio gal enjoyed your first video. So professional, never would know it was your first! Thanks for great styling tips.

  4. They’re gonna put you in the movies! LOL. You were fantastic! Loved the tips too! It’s put me order in for the popover!

  5. Oh my goodness, you did an awesome job!! You are a pro!!😊. Can’t wait for more!! What size shirt did you order? Does it run a little big?

    1. Hi Gail. Yes I’m wearing a medium but I would prefer a small. They just didn’t have one in the store that day and I was impatient to have it!

  6. Great job Kay!! I really enjoyed seeing the different ways to wear a popover shirt. You talked me into buying one😊

  7. You did a great job. It’s nice to get to “meet” you instead of just read about you. Keep up the good work.

  8. I ♥️ the video on YouTube. You did an awesome job! Just what I needed today to encourage me while staying home and things to wear when I can get out of the house again.

  9. Great job, Kay , and yes, I did learn a new trick or two. Could you put the links to the items here on the blog
here on Wednesday. I would love to see a
link to all the jewelry. I watched from south Louisana and have been following you for a year.

    1. Yes, that’s a good idea. I’ll definitely include links at the blog next week. Unfortunately all my jewelry is sold out 😕. That’s why I didn’t link it on the YouTube description box. Thanks so much for the tip.

  10. Great job! It was nice hearing your voice along with seeing the fashions. Watching from the Foothills of North Carolina.

  11. Very well done, Kay! It will be great for demos. BTW, all sweaters, blouses, and shirts, including the popover, are a flat $30 today only at Talbots. Other items are 40% off, so this was a great day to post.

  12. Hello from Indianapolis! The video was very well done and informative. You are so encouraging and full of joy. I do not have a white shirt so will consider getting one, but am not a fan of the boxy look. You inspire me to think about my wardrobe purchases. Thank you.

    1. Thanks so much Camille. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Maybe next Wednesday’s post will resonate more with you. I’m sharing a denim skirt…so many ways. 😉

  13. Hi, Kay! I left a comment on your video, but I forgot the YouTube account is in my husband’s name, so that might have seemed a little weird. Garycoldiron is me, Patt. I also forgot to say where I was from. I am just about 2 hours away from you, in Bloomington, Indiana. And I am really looking forward to seeing more videos from you!

    1. Thanks Patt. I’ve been grinning as I’ve seen lots of men’s names. But I can tell from what they’re saying that it’s women using their husbands accounts. So I got ya! 😉

  14. Wow, Kay … I’m impressed by both your new video as well as your determination to move forward even though you weren’t 100% happy with your final product. For the record, I thought your delivery and the whole vibe of the video were terrific. You came across as warm, friendly, authentic, and knowledgeable. So well done!

Oh, and I should mention I enjoyed the information, itself, especially idea #2, which I’ve never thought of trying on the many occasions when I’ve had a shirt that didn’t quite work either fully tucked in or completely loose. I learn so much from the fashion tips you share!

  15. Hello from Idaho. Loved the video! Well done and it was fun to hear your voice after following your blog for some time now. I am always hesitant to wear a white shirt but may try it and I should as I do own one! Thanks for the inspiration.

  16. Great job! I especially loved how cute you were modeling and having fun with it! Keep going with it!🤩

  17. Kay,
This was a great video. My style is very similar to yours so I always enjoy your great advice. I also often shop your fashion choices, especially Talbots. I thoroughly enjoyed the clever way you showcased the outfit you were explaining. Keep them coming!

  18. Kay, loved your first you tube presentation. Very informative. I just love your personality. Have a great rest of your day!

  19. I watched your video from Ontario, Canada. You did a fantastic job on the video, and as always, provided much more than just pictures of pretty cloths. Yours is the most informative blog (and now video) out there.

  20. Kay, You did an excellent job on your Youtube video!! It was most helpful in showing ways to style a simple top! I loved your outfits and you wore them so well! Can’t wait to see your furture videos. I have followed your blog for a while now and you have always shown style and grace in your posts! Thanks, Kay and God’s blessings to you as you serve Him in this way

  21. I subscribed right away to your videos but have only watched it here. Going over there to Thimbu up. Your debut is about as good as a fashion video gets. Your sweet spirit came through. I learned a lot and I love your sweet voice. You are going to be overwhelmed by how many people will subscribe. Are you ready to shine?

  22. I’ve recently started following your blog and look forward to reading it every day. Love the video and will follow you on You Tube! Thanks for the tips, I never realized a white shirt could be so versatile. Best of luck with your new endeavor!

  23. Great Job!
That was fun to watch and easy to apply the ideas with your instructions.
Looking forward to maybe some ways to shop my closet.
    Thank you Kay

  24. I just watched your video from Parker, Colorado and loved it!! Great job!! I have the exact shirt from Talbots in a Small (I downsized) and love it so much I ordered it in the blue and white stripe. I love your ideas on how to wear popover shirts. Thank you! I love your blog and now can look forward to your videos every week. You are a natural in front of the camera!

  25. Fabulous Kay!!! I am looking forward to every Wednesday. You have such a sweet and pleasant voice. I am from North Carolina.
    ~🦋Lisa🦋~

  26. Hi Kay, I don’t see how you could improve on the video. However, I look forward to seeing more of them. This is a question from the last post regarding the Veronica blue blazer. Did you order your usual size. I have broad shoulders, and busty. I normally wear size 12, but it is only available in size 10. One reviewer said it ran large. I really should ask you if blazers are good for broad shoulders, especially if they are padded very much? I love the light blue, but I may be out of luck. You are a very pretty lady and do a wonderful job at blogging. Take care-staying safe. Pat

    1. Hi Pat. Thanks so much. In the blazer I do have my usual size 8 whereas I sometimes size up to a 10 in a blazer because my shoulders are a little wide too. The sleeves are long; I need to have mine taken up when Nordstrom reopens. And it may be a little roomy throughout. So you really might could wear a 10. Hmmm. It’s a hard call. Worth a try since returns are easy and free.

  27. No apologies needed Kay! Well Done! When I saw how long it was, I thought “Almost TEN minutes! I’m not going to have time to watch these!” But once I started, your presentation and fun personality totally engaged me and boom, it was over! The way you did the double screen was very cool. I’ll look forward to more!

  28. Simply amazing job Kay! I can tell you are used to public speaking. You did a fabulous job! After watching this video (I subscribed to your channel!), I actually got my white popover top out of the donate box and decided to give it another chance. It is a longer style like you showed and I was in a real rut with it, so it was on its way out!! You had wonderful suggestions – I never even saw this top as a dressy look, but now I do. I can’t wait to see your other videos. You are so friendly and fun, I was smiling while I watched! Great job!

    1. Hahaha! It’s fine. I’ve noticed lots of women using what I assumed to be their husband’s account. So glad you enjoyed it.

  29. Hello Kay…..it’s Holly watching you from NC! I Loved your first Video! You did Awesome!
Loved the poplin shirt also, very versatile. I will keep watching your videos when you post them…..your a joy to listen to.

    Blessings

  30. I finally had a chance to view the video and thought it was wonderful. You are such a pleasant woman of God! I enjoy your helpful instruction today on all the ways to wear a plain white blouse. Really enlightening! Thanks!

  31. You were really great Kay, if you hadn’t mentioned it was your first one I certainly wouldn’t have known. I have only in the last couple of weeks been starting to follow your blog so I think that great things are certainly in front of you now with youtube videos along with the other media going well. Thanks and I look forward to more great tips and info.
    Deborah (Sydney, Aust)

    1. Ahh, thanks so much Deborah. I appreciate you introducing yourself and leaving a comment. I really think I’m going to enjoy this medium. We cut more videos this weekend. I’m glad you found Dressed for My Day! 😉
