Happy Friday! And welcome to Dressed for My Day, where my goal, with each and every post, is to inspire and help women like you and me to get dressed for our unique days so we can engage with those around us authentically and graciously. When I discovered that the pretty green t-shirt dress I’d photographed to show in today’s post is almost sold out, I decided to pivot and simply introduce you to the brand and tell you why I love it. Meet 1901, one of my favorite Nordstrom Brands.
BONUS: So many of the styles I’m showing you from 1901 today are significantly marked down. Yay! But they’re selling out fast.
Named for the year the iconic department store first opened its doors, Nordstrom’s 1901 brand pays homage to the classic foundations of a stylish wardrobe. But, while the name reflects the past, the clothing line consistently brings fresh perspective to wardrobe essentials such as button up shirts, blazers, skirts, trousers, cardigans, t-shirts and dresses. Perhaps that’s why this clothing label resonates so much with this modern classic style gal.
This simple, clean cut t-shirt dress is indicative of the brand. It features a feminine silhouette constructed from 100% cotton. And it includes the kinds of details I’d expect from a Nordstrom brand, including pockets and fine-tuned stitching. Last I checked it’s only available in a couple of sizes in navy and white stripe or black. Maybe oh maybe they’ll replenish it for summer.
I love adding my Levi’s denim jacket over this simple dress. The blue denim and green look especially nice together. 1901 has a classic denim jacket, too, and it’s 40% off and fully stocked.
Let me go ahead and share with you the other details of this outfit, and then I’d like to tell you about other 1901 pieces I own or love. First, let’s talk jewelry.
I wanted to wear jewelry that would lay on top of the green t-shirt dress, but I prefer shorter necklaces most of the time. So I wore my Parker link collar necklace and compass coin pendant necklace.
In order to let the green steal the scene, I kept my accessories minimal and nude. I’m wearing my leather 40-hour flats that I got in the Everlane (one and only) sale. They’re made of luxurious Italian leather. They do run small. Size up a full size. Then when I first tried these flats on they still felt a little snug, but they almost immediately stretched a bit to form fit my foot. Now they feel fantastic. I love the nude shade, but they come in four other colors, too.
And I’m carrying my new Everlane Day Market Tote as well. It appears to no longer be available in this soft taupe shade, but is still listed in the beautiful cognac and black shades. I recently gave my daughter my Madewell tote (which I still love) when I bought this one in the Everlane sale.
I’m so bummed that this dress is no longer available, but I do want to tell you more about this brand. In fact, many pieces from 1901 are currently marked down significantly. And let me remind you of a few that I own and love. First up, my red 1901 blazer.
The red blazer was not available for the longest time, but it’s been restocked and is available for 40% off right now. Yippee!!! It’s also available in navy.
And I have the same blazer in black. This blazer is fully stocked, too, and 50% off. Woohoo! It’s also available in a pretty pink.
I’ve found 1901 blazers to fit true to size. In both, I have a size 8. They also have a nice trim, fitted silhouette. I really like that. And they are made from stretch cotton twill, so they have a little give. But I especially like that the lining in these blazers is well fitted to the jacket, inserted correctly and made of beautiful contrasting fabric.
I also have and wear the 1901 Chambray shirt. It’s currently fully stocked and 50% off.
I have a medium in this chambray shirt. I think a chambray shirt is a wardrobe essential; they’re so versatile.
I also recently added this “Palm Trees Ocean Breeze” t-shirt to my wardrobe, but I haven’t had a chance to take photos with it yet. I have the medium and it fits nicely. This t-shirt and several other cute graphic tees are 50% off, too.
Here’s a collage of a few other 1901 pieces that I absolutely love. Then I’ll provide a shopping widget filled with everything from 1901 that I’ve mentioned or shown today.
I find 1901 to be a moderate priced, high quality brand that generates classic, but current styles. I find the blazers to fit true to size, but the pants I’ve tried on seemed to run a bit small. Let me know if you have any questions.

I don’t believe God ever sends tough situations into our lives to test us or just to see how much strength we have. While this sentiment is expressed often in Hallmark movies, the Bible teaches us that God uses our problems and trials to build strength into our character. In fact, any strength that we have apart from that which God has built into us is faulty and often based on pride. That strength will eventually crack under pressure.
But the strength God weaves into the fibers of our character is built on faith and trust in Him – in His promises, His ability, his power and His love for us. That kind of sound strength does not disappoint. How is God currently building strength into your life? You can thank Him for those difficulties because you know good will come of them.
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. ~ Romans 5:3-5
I ordered the Palm Trees tshirt earlier this week and I’m excited to see how it fits when it arrives! It’s the first piece I’ve ordered from this brand.
Have a great day!
Great. I noticed they’re sold out now.
Great post today, Kay! I really like the dress, jacket, shoes, and tote. Looks comfortable but really clean lines.
Thanks for the encouragement from BFMD as well. I truly needed that.
Have a blessed weekend!
Suzanne
Thanks for introducing us to 1901! As a Nordy club member, I am always looking for new brands to try. The only dress left is an XS in the navy & white striped. I am going to check out the other available items you shared. While reading BFMD, I thought of the pandemic all of us are dealing with now. Enjoy the time with your son and DIL!
It has taken me a few days to watch your first YouTube post, I wanted to make sure there would be no distractions. It was fabulous! Wow, I am really impressed! Not only was it a great video, it was fun to hear your sweet voice and see you in action. Thank you for all of the time and work that you put into making your blog and YouTube posts so fun and enlightening! I live in Scottsdale, AZ where we have already hit 100 degree temperatures 🥵 Have a blessed day!
That red jacket is amazing. It will go with so many things. It works like a neutral in my wardrobe. I love the green dress but due to circumstances beyond my control. I’d need to wear it with leggings and boots. Hope they bring it back. It’s a good transition dress.
I love this green dress! So wish it was still available!!!
Me, too. I’m really hoping they’ll restock it. I’ll be watching.
I love that green dress! 💚 I was a little late and the red blazer is sold out in my size. I’m going to have to stalk the Nordstrom site to see if either one of these come back in stock! I just recently found your blog , and I love it! Thank you for sharing such amazing, classic looks!
I’m so sorry about the availability on these pieces, Missy. But they have already restocked the blazer multiple times so I expect they may again. And surely, since it’s really a summery dress, that t-shirt dress or a similar one will reappear. I’ll be watching them too. Thanks so much for sharing. I’m so pleased you found the blog and enjoy it.
