Happy Tuesday, gals! It continues to rain cats and dogs in Georgia, where I’m visiting my family. But this Arizona desert dweller could care less. Ha! But while I’m snuggled up in my parents’ house listening to the rain pattering outside, I thought I’d share another sunny fashion post from last week in Arizona. So today I’m sharing my black a-line skirt with a sweater and black booties…under blue skies!

Admittedly, my black a-line skirt is a little big on me. But it’s a favorite from my closet and I refuse to give it up. I have a red one, too. And I love wearing them with a simple pullover sweater, tights and my black, suede booties.

This red v-neck sweater is new and available at Talbots (and reduced!), but my a-line skirt and booties are from seasons past. Still, this is a classic outfit, so you can find similar pieces today. I’ve included so many options in the shopping widget below.

I really enjoy wearing my black booties with skirts and dresses. They’re comfortable, warm and an edgy addition to an otherwise classic ensemble. If you’re looking for black booties, I found these today at Macy’s and I think they are perfect. A great price, available in black leather or suede, plus other great shades. And they have a very reasonable heel height. I would snap these up so quick if I were needing a new pair!

This is the kind of outfit I love to wear to church in the winter. But I also would wear something like this classic a-line skirt and sweater to speak in, to go out to dinner with my hubby or friends or to a holiday party. You can easily duplicate this look with any of the a-line skirts and sweaters in the shopping widget below.

While pencil skirts are always chic and versatile, an a-line skirt looks a little more youthful and fun. It’s the perfect skirt to pair with tights and boots. And knee high riding boots would be perfect with this duo, too. In fact, I’m looking at these and seriously considering buying them in the wide calf size. I’m tried them on today and they fit and feel wonderful. And that’s a great price for these classic boots.

Blessed for My Day

Lord, today I lift up my friends here, asking that you fill them with wisdom and understanding for their day. In all their conversations, may they be quick to hear – really hear, slow to speak and slow to anger. May they listen with the intent of understanding and hearing the heart of the other person. May they measure their words carefully, choosing words and phrases that give honor and encouragement and hope and perspective, not criticism or discouragement or despair. And may they refuse to grow angry because of personal offense, but always give grace as You have given us. Lord, give us such wisdom.

For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding… ~ Colossians 1:9

xoxo, Kay

  1. Beautiful, Kay…..LOVE the red sweater, you and your blog! Glad you’re enjoying your stay in Georgia and I pray for safe travels home for you!

  2. As always love the outfit. So glad you are having fun with your daughter even with the rain.
Thank you for the link to the tall boots at Macy’s. They have them in NAVY!!! Navy is so hard to find especially leather. And they have them in wide sizes as well. Totally made my day! Thank you.

    1. Hi Donna! Yes! Those really are great boots. I tried them on in the store and they looked so classic and felt great. But I was told they were full price so I didn’t get them. So when I found them marked down online I snapped them up. You will love them! ?

  3. Kay, great classic outfit. I love red and black together, but then I am a Georgia Bulldawg fan? I m originally from Carrollton, about 40 miles west of ATL. I sure wish I was at Lenox, shopping with my girls! ENJOY ??

    1. Thanks Joan. And we used to live in Bowdon, so I know exactly where you are ?. In fact my son was born at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. Thanks for commenting!
