Frequently Asked Questions

A colorful Lauren by Ralph Lauren Sheath Dress with Ruching

Got a question? Pop me an email. Meanwhile, here are the answers to some of my most frequently asked questions.

What size are you? I’m 5’8″ and currently about 155 pounds. I wear mostly size 8 and the occasional size 6 in pants, jeans, dresses and skirts. Because I have wide shoulders and long arms, I wear size 8 or mediums in jackets, but usually a small in sweaters and tops. I wear a size 9.5  shoe.

Where do you shop for clothes and accessories? I’m always open to finding new stores – both online and brick and mortar. But right now I shop a lot at Talbots, J.Jill, Soma, Ann Taylor, Nordstrom and Everlane.

Who takes your photographs? My husband James just took up photography about two years ago, and he takes most of my photos with his Nikon 85. If I’m out of town without him, I have someone take photos with my iPhone. Occasionally my dear friend and professional photographer Hannah Whaley takes my photos, and those are duly noted.

What do you do for fitness? I’m a lifelong exerciser. I was running up until about a year ago when I realized it was taking more of a toll on my body and I wasn’t getting the results I had in the past. Recently I’ve begun participating in Amanda Tress’s FASTer Way to Fat Loss program. She combines carb cycling, intermittent fasting, clean eating, two days of intense cardio and three or more days of full body weight training. This is working for me like nothing else! I love this program.

Tell us about your hair. My hair is mostly my natural color, which is blonde with interspersed gray! But I do have highlights applied about every six months just to brighten it up. I dry it with a large round brush and use a flat iron. Y’all! I just learned how to do my hair when I was in my late 30s! Until then it looked pretty frumpy and bushy.

What do you do for fun? I absolutely love to travel. I also read, hike, knit a little and bake. I love visiting with friends over coffee or yummy food. And I like playing board games with my family when we are together.

What do you write and speak about? I have written three women’s Bible studies, a devotional guide and a book about friendship. I blog weekly at KayHarms.com, where I offer encouragement and biblical teaching for women. I hope you’ll visit me there, too. I speak at women’s Bible conferences and retreats throughout the country and even in other countries. I absolutely love speaking at these conferences!

How can we get you to speak at our event? Let’s talk! You might want to visit my Speaker’s page at my KayHarms.com website for more information. Then send me an email!
