Welcome to Dressed for My Day! I hope you’re having a pretty summer day. I think we’re expecting rain here, but we’ve had so many sunny days in a row, I can hardly complain. Into every life, a little rain must fall! And that rain just makes us appreciate all the more the bright, sunny days when we can wear true seasonal classics like these crisp white shorts and summer linen top.

Recently, Chico’s sent me a little gift package with some beautiful summer classics to try out. I’m so thankful for my relationship with this brand and their graciousness because it affords me the opportunity to try products and share them with you. But I’m under no obligation to do so. This no-iron linen roll-tab sleeve shirt was simply a gift, but I can heartily recommend it to you gals.
I’m wearing the no-iron linen roll-tab sleeve shirt in limeburst, which I selected because I thought I’d like it with my green eyes. But it comes in six other equally pretty summer-soft hues. I’m wearing a TTS 8 or Chico’s 1.
This no-iron linen roll-tab sleeve shirt features a cooling, moisture-wicking, and no-iron fabrication, so it’s a breeze for summer. And this silhouette is a perfect choice for gals who want to hide a tummy or just prefer a fuss-free look. Chico’s has other no-iron linen top options as well, including pretty prints, longer tunics and sleeveless shirts.
You can wear a linen shirt with anything from jeans to linen pants to slim ankle pants. But I really love linen with white shorts. Check out this previous post, also featuring a linen shirt from a past season with Chico’s.
The white shorts in the photo above are the Brigitte Slim Shorts in alabaster from Chico’s. I still have those…somewhere! But I couldn’t locate them for my recent photo shoot, so I chose to wear my new white 7″ relaxed chino shorts from Talbots. Both run true to size.
The sweet thing about combining crisp white shorts and a soft linen shirt in a pretty shade of summer is that you really don’t have to do much else with the outfit. These two summer classics look perfectly smart and oh so chic on their own. I just finished off my outfit with metallic sandals (similar), an old turquoise necklace from my drawer, favorite silver earrings from Brighton and a smart straw clutch, also from Chico’s. If you like my necklace (I love turquoise and lime green!), you might like this one, too.
This is the kind of outfit I enjoy wearing out to lunch or dinner during the summer, especially if I’m dining alfresco. But it’s also great for so many other outings and occasions, including dinner at home.
Did you enjoy today’s post? I’m so grateful you stopped in. Let me know if you have questions about anything I shared here. Have a lovely summer day!

Conventional wisdom tells us to look out for ourselves, claim our rights, get our due and demand our voices be heard. But, dear friend, those demands do not fall in line with the teachings of God’s Word. Our Savior taught us, not to think less of ourselves, but to think of ourselves less. If you feel like your feelings have been pushed aside or you’ve been misrepresented, I know that can be frustrating. But there’s a better way to handle your hurt and grievances than insisting that another person sit still and listen to you. Yes, there really is a better way.
I encourage you to take your frustrations – those unmet needs and unheard grievances and brushed aside feelings – to the only One who can listen and comprehend. Ask Him alone to soothe your hurts, fill your voids and meet your needs. And then leave those requests with Him. Trust Him. Give Him time. When God meets your needs – like no one else can – you will find true peace and joy…like nothing this world can afford you.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. ~ Romans 12:2-3
I have that blue shirt! I usually wear it with jeans. I love the idea of lime green and turquoise. I’m loving the way you use color. I bought olive green pants when I saw you combined them with that chalk pink blouse. Love that look.
I went for a blood test a couple of weeks ago and the girl that took my blood didn’t have a mask on. The one that gave me my EKG was coughing, no mask on. I had one on but you’d think………Stay safe!
Oh my. That’s strange about the masks and such. I’m a little concerned that some place are getting a little lax too soon.
What a classy and beautiful outfit on you, Kay! I like how you put the aqua and lime green together.
Thanks so much for reading, Ginger. 🥰
I just put in an order for the shirt, this colour is regular price but other colours are on sale! So I ordered two. I like linen shirts over tanks especially if you are going to be in and out of air conditioning. Not sure that look is still in style but it works great for me.
