Fall Outing Dress with Secret Powers

This past weekend James and I celebrated his birthday by venturing out for our first Ohio day trip. It was an unseasonably cool, crisp day with a steady breeze and lots of sun. What a treat! And since I’d been excitedly waiting to wear the new dress that Title Nine recently sent me, I eagerly slipped it on for our fun outing. Yep! It’s the perfect fall outing dress. And it has secret powers…

Fall Outing Dress with Secret Powers

When the folks at Title Nine offered to send me this Dream dress, I jumped at it. I absolutely love wearing casual dresses like this one for day trips. And we’re planning on many such outings to come in our new home state.

Fall outing dress

First off, I love the Buttah™ fabric (90% poly, 10% spandex) that this 3/4 length sleeve dress is made from. It feels buttery soft and light on the skin. Plus it’s wrinkle resistant and machine washable.

But this dress also has an amazing “secret power!”

When we got out of the car and headed to the picnic table, I was glad my Dream dress had a handy little snap at the hem line. With just one little snap I was able to secure my dress so that it fit more like a romper than a dress. And I didn’t have to worry one iota about a gust of wind causing an embarrassing moment. Score!

But this sweet and easy dress has yet another secret power. At the right hip, tucked into the beautiful print of the fabric and the smooth seam line, the dress features a hidden zipper pocket.

The pocket is not huge or bothersome, but just big enough to tuck away a little cash for the garage sale, food trucks or farmer’s market you’re browsing through. Or you could hide away your driver’s license and a key fob.

I’m wearing a Medium in the dress. So I’d say they run true to size, but slightly small. I find most outdoor brands don’t vanity size the way other clothing brands do.

When I wear a dress like this for a day outing, I always take along my denim jacket. For this outing my Ecco Yucatan sandals (also available here and here) were the perfect footwear. But later on in the fall I’ll probably slip on my sneakers or even my running shoes when I wear this dress.

Of course, I kept my jewelry simple for our day outing. I just wore my gold stud earrings, some small gold hoops, my dainty necklace from Gorjana and a beaded bracelet. I thought my pink sunglasses looked pretty with this navy and rose dress.

By the way, if you’re interested in checking out other great travel and activity dresses at Title Nine, they have quite the collection. The sleeveless Dream dress also has the SwiftSnap technology. But I especially like Amelia 3/4 sleeve dress, the Waters Wrap Cafe Sleeve Dress and the Sayonara Cafe Sleeve Dress.

The folks at Title Nine were generous to gift me the Dream dress, but my review and recommendations are genuine and personal.

Blessed for My Day

Sometimes the world sticks labels on us and tries to tell us who we are. Over the hill, fuddy duddy, old fashioned, loser, out to pasture, college drop-out, unpopular… Maybe you’ve felt the sting of other less than desirable titles.

But God has the final say about who we really are. According to Him, you are loved, redeemed, adopted into His family. You are precious and you are His child. Don’t let anyone…including the voice in your head or the mental tape recordings of voices from the past…tell you who you are. You are His.

Among these were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah of the tribe of Judah. And the chief of the eunuchs gave them names: Daniel he called Belteshazzar, Hananiah he called Shadrach, Mishael he called Meshach, and Azariah he called Abednego. ~ Daniel 1:6-7

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. ~ 1 Peter 2:9

  1. What a neat idea. Unfortunately looks too short for me but love it on you. Also enjoying reading about your cool fall like weather. Praying for a little rain and relief from these 100+ temperatures in south Texas.

    1. Hi Wanda. Yeah, the dress looks shorter to me in this photos than I felt like it was on Saturday. Ha! I do hope you guys get some relief from the heat soon. Unfortunately, I think our reprieve will probably be short lived. The forecast has already changed since yesterday and we’re going to get a little warmer again starting tomorrow.

  2. I love the details on this dress and this color for Fall and how creative to add the snap! You said it was cooler out so when you wear dresses or skirts in cooler weather, don’t your legs get cold? That’s my problem with skirts and dresses before boot weather, I still love wearing them but my legs get cold. Looks like you are in a beautiful area with a lake. How pretty.

    1. Hi Sandy. Well, it was in the high 60s and 70s that day. So not terribly cold, just cool. I felt quite comfortable. But I think the dress would look and feel pretty good with leggings, too.

Yes, it was a very pretty area. Honestly, I have no idea where we were! Ha! I was just along for the ride! And it was a very pretty day.

  3. Very flattering dress! Love the colors and style. As always you look beautiful both inside and out! Thank you so much for showing up in my inbox each day. You always bring a smile to my face. Here in Missouri we have had a lot of rain so I got a little tickled at how you enjoyed listening to the soft rain. and being reminded you just moved from the desert. Enjoy beautiful Ohio!

    1. Thanks so much for sharing, Rhonda. I’m very glad that you’re enjoying the blog. Yes, we have more rain coming today. Honestly, as I watched it come down absolutely all day yesterday, I was practically amazed. I just haven’t seen that kind of rain in a very long time!

  4. Hey Kay. I am a fan of Title Nine dresses! I enjoy wearing their skorts, too. Their items wear well and hold up well over time.
Looks like it was a fun trip for you and James. Hope you had a nice bike ride!
    Candy

    1. Hi Candy!! I always think of you when I show something from Title Nine. I do like their dresses, too. I’ll have to try the skorts some time. We had a lovely day. Thanks so much!!

  5. That dress has great details and the colors are so pretty. Are there mosquitoes and/ticks in Ohio? I needed the BFMD, so thank you!

    1. Hahaha! Yes! There are. So I’m constantly checking for ticks. Mosquitoes don’t bother me as much as they do some folks, but we’ve lit some citronella candles on our deck. Glad the blessing spoke to you. Have a great day!

  6. Hi Kay,
So glad you are enjoying your new home state of Ohio. This dress looks great on you, and I love the special features. We are planning a Corvette road trip of several weeks in 2020 to see more of our beautiful USA. A dress like this looks like the perfect travel dress because of the lightweight fabric & versatility. Of necessity, we must pack lightly & thoughtfully! I was disappointed that it doesn’t come in petite, though?. I will explore their selections more. Thanks for featuring it. You look beautiful! I always appreciate your style and Blessed for My Day.

    1. Hi Jan. Wow! That Corvette road trip sounds amazing. We passed several convertibles out enjoying the day Saturday and commented on how fun that looked. I’m sorry the dress doesn’t come in petite. You might definitely want to check out Talbots’ T by Talbots collection of dresses in petite. They have really improved the quality of that label.

Thanks so much for your kind words. You gals make this fun!

  7. Pretty dress! And I love the “secret” features! I don’t wear dresses very often, but the versatility of this one is tempting. I have those Ecco sandals and love them. Glad you and James are enjoying Ohio so far. I’m just a bit north of you in Springboro. I do believe your posts are going to inspire to drive a bit down the road to visit Cincinnati more often. ?

    1. Hi Rachel. Yes, this dress really makes wearing a dress super easy. It’s comfortable and that snap saved me on the ferry ride, at the windy picnic and on the bike! We’re definitely enjoying getting to know Ohio!
