Sometimes a girl’s just got to have fun! Today I’m showing you how a simple but vibrant t-shirt and white jeans can be pulled together for a cheerful, relaxed ensemble that is perfect for a day of shopping, sightseeing, hanging with friends or puttering around the house. For those of you who are grandmas or grandma-wannabes, this is a great look to wear to a t-ballgame, a child’s birthday party, a children’s museum or a children’s theater matinee. But even if your plans don’t revolve around children, I think you’ll like the simplicity and youthfulness of this t-shirt inspired ensemble.
There’s really nothing complicated or especially fashionista about this outfit. In fact, that’s the key to a look like this: keeping it very simple. Let each piece of the ensemble speak for itself and don’t try to complicate it with too much accessorizing.
I don’t normally wear big, flashy neon yellow earrings. Ha! But I love the way these bold earrings pick up the dainty yellow of the Mason jar and fireflies on my pink t-shirt. It ties the look together without complicating things. Notice I’m not wearing a necklace. I’m just letting the folksy illustration on the tee have its moment.
I miss fireflies terribly. Yep. You heard it here. We don’t have fireflies – or lightening bugs, as I grew up calling them – here in southern Arizona. And I have such fond memories of capturing them on sticky summer evenings in Georgia and slipping them into a jar with holes hammered into the lid…just like the picture on my t-shirt. I’m sure we usually let them go again before heading inside for baths, but we enjoyed watching our little jars, once filled with green beans or tomatoes, light up with the magical glow of those friendly little insects. Ahh, sweet, humble memories.
I love the appeal of hot pink or fuchsia with pure white. And I like to leave it at that. Other than a tiny nod to the yellow in my shirt with my flower-power earrings, there really is no need for any other colors or prints. And while I really think yellow was the best choice for my earrings, you could also wear white ones with equal simplicity.
Do you like Life is Good t-shirts? They’ve always been a favorite of mine. But I especially like their fitted tees. All of my other ones have been the boxier style, But this fitted tee is more feminine.
You could certainly wear pretty sandals with this jeans and t-shirt combo, but I love the casual vibe of my Converse Chuck Taylor All Star sneakers. They come in a great range of colors, too. But the navy have served me well.
Still keeping it simple, instead of a big bag I chose to carry my Vera Bradley All in One Crossbody, but I carried it as a wristlet. That’s a great feature of those bags. They come with two straps and you can actually carry them three ways: as a crossbody, as a wristlet or as an unstrapped wallet. And I do all three! And they come in so many beautiful patterns and colors.
If you haven’t purchased any white jeans for the summer, these really just might be the ones you’re looking for. I’ve really enjoyed wearing mine. I do have the curvy fit, and I’m not really all that curvy. But I found the curvy fit just allows a little more room and prevents that yucky cottage cheese look that a lot of white jeans create. These are a nice thickness, have a good bit of stretch, but they don’t stretch out as you wear them.
Alright gals! Go slip into your favorite t-shirt and jeans (or jean shorts!) and have a great weekend. Oh, but first shop the widget below. You’ll find almost everything I wore in this post there…or a similar substitution. And look! My pink shirt comes in a pretty cool aqua, too. Shine on!

Blessed for My Day
May you be blessed today with great joy. Even if your circumstances are uncertain or difficult, may the joy of the Lord be your sustaining strength. Seek Him. Rest in Him. Delight in Him – in His promises, His presence and His provision. Because He is good you can surely say, “It is well with my soul.” Be blessed in the deep knowledge that He is indeed good…and therefore life is good.
And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength. ~ Nehemiah 8:10b
Great weekend look. Love the hot pint and pop of color yellow earrings! My style! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much for dropping in today, Susanne! 🙂
Adorable!
What a cute outfit! Could you tell me what size jeans you’re wearing and are they petite or regular?
Thanks and have a great day! Love today’s Bible verse.
Hi Claire, Thanks for reading today. I’m wearing the regular, as I’m 5’8″. They’re the curvy fit in a size 6. I normally wear a 6 in jeans and an 8 in other pants. Hope that helps. Have a blessed and happy day!

Thanks for showing this outfit. It’s very cute. I’ve never bought this brand of tees. Can you tell me, do they run true to size? Or run small?
Thanks.
Hi Elle, Life is Good t-shirts are very soft and good quality. However, I would say they run a little small, not much, but a little. I’m wearing a small here and I do generally wear a small in shirts, but mine does fit close to the body and it hasn’t been washed yet. I definitely wouldn’t dry this one in the dryer just because it is already so close fitting. I have bought mediums in this brand before and been happy with that fit, too. But I just wanted this shirt to be fitted. Hope that helped. Or maybe I just muddied the water!! 🙂
That’s very helpful. I lean towards liking a looser tee, so I’ll order medium and give these a try!
That little pop of yellow is just what the outfit needed. Great look!
