Happy Monday sweet gals! I’m so thankful you dropped by Dressed for My Day. Today’s cool temps have reminded me exactly why layering is not only beautiful, but essential during the spring. And today I’m layering a basic cardigan I already had in my closet over this sweet garden floral top and girlfriend chinos to create a lovely spring outfit. And it’s all 40% off today!
First, let me just say I love this color combination. We have black, olive green and multi-colored floral print. So contemporary, youthful and earthy. And it’s perfect for a day browsing through an old mining town like Bisbee, Arizona.
Because my top is lightweight and thin, it was easy to slip my simple black cardigan over it. This cardigan was a great little investment, and it’s 40% off through tonight. I’m wearing a small. You can also get this cardigan in a petite. And of course there are additional shades to choose from, such as fuchsia, pink, night sky and white.
Let me go ahead and mention that my three layered necklaces are all from Gorjana. I’ve fallen in love with their collection of dainty, contemporary necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings. I’m wearing the Starry-Eyed Layering Set, but each piece can also be purchased separately.
This pretty garden print top features a barely-there peplum and a keyhole opening in the back. Just enough detail to add some interest without creating a fuss. I’m wearing a small and it runs true to size. The top also comes in petite and plus sizes.
My girlfriend chinos are in “intense olive,” but they’re also available in “milky tan” and “coastal grey.” You can roll the cuff up a little for a sportier vibe if you wish. (I think I’d need them in tall if I wanted to roll the cuffs.) I’m wearing an 8, so they fit true to size. The pants are also available in petite, plus and tall sizes. Full of stretch, they’re extremely comfortable.
My black circle handle bag and strappy black sandals are no longer available, but I’ve provided some similar options in the shopping widget below.
Don’t you think this combination is feminine, delightfully casual and contemporary? And it’s all 40% off through Monday night. For the cardigan use code FRIENDS40. For the chinos and top use code NEWNOW. If you have any questions about any of the pieces, please let me know. And definitely let me know if you discover that any of my links don’t work. Thanks, gals!

Does your life provoke questions? I think that the easiest way to become an effective witness for Jesus is to live a life that is so dramatically and winsomely different that it stirs up questions in those around us. What kinds of questions? “How do you remain so hopeful in such a dark circumstance?” “Why did you speak so kindly to her when she was so rude to you?” “Where do you get the strength to press on when your life is so hard?” and “How did you manage to forgive him when he obviously was wrong?”
Of course, when the questions are asked we need to be prepared to give an answer, too. And may our answers always reflect the grace, sufficiency, glory and faithfulness of our Lord.
But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect. ~ 1 Peter 3:15
Love this look! This is my typical ‘uniform’ for Spring and summer cool evenings!! I LOVE color so have many different choices in my wardrobe. So glad to see the shorter cardigan’s haven’t been totally ditched for the popular longer ones. I’m only 5’2” so this is a good look for me. Love you and your blog.
Great Sondra. Yeah, like I said I purchased the cardigan in the fall, but of course they’re still available. I don’t know that I’d say they’re as “on trend” as they were in the beginning of Michelle Obama’s time in the White House, but basic cardigans are always going to be stylish and appropriate. And I think they are probably generally a great option for more petite women. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the blog. Be sure to check in on Saturday. I’m having a celebration of sorts. It will be the 1 Year Birthday of the blog. Yay!!!
Love this look!! This is my spring look too. I wanted to ask your opinion on the white sneakers I keep seeing, like the superga’s. I would rather go with a nude or blush slip on. Thanks!
Hi Kathy. Thanks for reading today’s post. Yeah, I actually now have the Supergas in white canvas and recently purchased the Keds in white leather. They’re definitely trending. However, the blush sneakers are very stylish right now, too. So if that’s your preference absolutely go for it. I think they’re great! I’m looking at three blush colored handbags right now and trying to decide on one. I’m crazy for blush pink!
I tried on this top last week. I loved that it was a “barely there” peplum like you described, bc I can’t wear the wide peplums that have been in style recently due to my pear shape. This top fit really cute and I loved the pattern, but I just didn’t care for the cut-out in the back. So sadly I declined the purchase – which is very rare for me at Loft. 🙂
I completely understand your hesitation about the back, Anita. In fact, I didn’t really notice the back when I tried it on at the store and purchased it. And I probably would not want it if my hair didn’t cover the keyhole. Thanks for reading!
What a wonderful place to take photos!! It’s almost like an European city look!!
And I have chinos just like these. I’ll have to pull them out!
XOXO

Last week I purchased this top at Loft.
It’s everything you described and you styled it well. I hope I can explore Bisbee AZ before this year ends. I love when you show interesting locations in your state.
Ahh, great to hear, Elianne! Thanks for the feedback! And yes, Bisbee is a fun little town. We even found so many new places in it that we hadn’t seen before. Thanks for reading!
Yes, it’s definitely an interesting little town, Jodie. If you guys end up moving to Arizona, you’ll definitely have to visit it!
This is such a pretty spring outfit and that top will take you well into early summer! I’m not on FB but would enjoy listening to your podcast. Do you provide a link on your Blog fpr those of us who are not on FB can watch later? Be blessed today!
