Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you had a good weekend. However, I know that some in our nation are undoubtedly exhausted after facing the storms and flooding of Hurricane Florence. I had the opportunity to speak at Scotts Hill Baptist Church in Wilmington, North Carolina, several years ago, and I stayed in the home of one of the most gracious couples I’d ever met…right there on the waterway. Those beautiful people and the others I met at that church have been on my mind and heart all weekend. I am praying for them and the countless others who are returning to their homes this week to discover the ordeals they must overcome in coming months. I know you are praying for them, too.
It seems a little trivial – as it often does in current days – to turn our attention to fashion now. But alas, this is a style blog and that’s my assignment here. Let’s take it for what it is, ladies. It’s a first world dilemma – how to dress for our day. But maybe that just gives us all the more for which to be grateful. Lord, help us to always be grateful for the abundance we have been given.
Okay.
Ever so often I post an outfit that I just absolutely adore. Today is one of those days. I still can’t wear this graphic t-shirt and utility jacket combo yet, and probably won’t be able to for at least several more weeks. But I’m chomping at the bit! I love the color combination of burgundy, blue and green. Don’t you?
I featured this dark olive utility jacket in this previous post, and I told you then you’d be seeing a lot of it. I’ve decided this jacket is my new favorite. It’s also available in stone grey, but only in size large. I’m wearing the medium, so I would suggest going with your larger size if you waffle between two like I do. It’s still available in all sizes in the dark olive. And as I’m writing this post, it’s marked down 50% from the original price.
My short sleeve elephant graphic t-shirt is a Target find. It’s super soft and I think the color and the design are current and fun. I found it in the women’s department, and it’s listed under women’s clothing online. But the listing says it’s a junior style. That explains why I’m wearing the large, and I still ended up taking it back because it was a little snug in the shoulders and under the arms. My pride wouldn’t let me get the x-large at the time, but now that I know why it fits so differently, I may go back and get this graphic t-shirt. (I know. Vanity.) I really do like this cool tee.
My vino skinny jeans are in the curvy fit. They also come in wild moss, and they’re 40% off. But that sale ends tonight (Monday) at midnight Pacific time. These jeans fit true to size.
My boots are a couple of years old, and are Lucky Brand. But I think these Clarks look very similar. And these boots in the luggage leather have the same rustic appeal.
I found this leopard print wristlet at Target, too. It’s perfect for a date night or girls’ night out when you want to add a little interest to your outfit. If I weren’t carrying this leopard print clutch I’d probably front tuck the t-shirt and add a leopard print belt.
My necklace and earrings are several years old. And while I bought them at Dillard’s, I have no idea the brand. But really a pretty gold or silver chain of similar length would look great with this outfit. You just want to add a little shine to the outfit. And I liked that the colors of the beads in my jewelry are the same colors in my outfit. So I thought the jewelry helped tie it all together.
Are you with me? Are you ready to start wearing layered clothing like this? Come on fall temps! We’re ready!

Blessed for My Day
Grace and Truth. Jesus came to bring us grace and truth. And one without the other just won’t do. Grace paves the way for us to face the truth about our sin. It provides a safe place for us to fall to our knees in confession and repentance. And truth, while it sometimes stings, ultimately brings healing. Without the truth we cannot worship or ever know our God.
We also have a mandate to take grace and truth to the world. When we give all grace, but never speak the truth, we cheat people out of true healing, real life, peace with God. We may make them temporarily comfortable, but we leave them sick and in need of healing. And if we speak the truth, but without grace, we offend, shun, punish, judge and wound. We build walls instead of bridges.
So today, I pray for you to know the grace and truth of Jesus. I pray that you know and experience His amazing grace, but that you also allow the truth to set you free. And I pray that, as you have opportunity…with your co-workers, friends, children, grandchildren and spouse…speak both grace and truth. Because that is what the world needs more than anything.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth… For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. ~ John 1:14,17
I love everything about this outfit…it’s such the perfect fall segway!!

I would not have thought to put those colors together, but agree they look great together!
These colors are beautiful together and I do agree nothing like a graphic tee with a utility jacket! It’s still hot in my neck of the woods and like you, it’ll be a few more weeks before I can wear something like this. It is unfortunate what it happening in NC and as always my thoughts and prayers are with those in need. I think having a blog whether fashion or otherwise, give people hope of something to look forward to. A ray of goodness in the bad sort of speak. An escape perhaps? At least that’s how I look at it. Happy Monday!

Hi, Kay! What I like about this post is that you’ve added a third piece (the jacket) and the brightly-colored little beads that add color and extra interest to the outfit. Nice! – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
