Hi gals! I hope you are experiencing some beautiful spring weather wherever you are today. The schools around here were on Spring Break this week, and they couldn’t have chosen a better week for it. After a rather unusually cold and wet winter here in southern Arizona, spring sprung forth in all its glory this week. Hallelujah! So, since I haven’t done one of these in a while, I thought today would be a great day to share how I really dressed for my day…this week.

How I Really Dressed for My Day this week

These are not really in order by day, and I can’t remember exactly which day I wore what. But I know where I wore each outfit, so I’ll share that for reference.

Sizing:

I’m 5’8″ and weigh 150 pounds. I have fairly balanced proportions and an hourglass shape, but my shoulders are slightly wide and my bustline is small. I wear a 9.5 normal in shoes. I generally wear a 6 in jeans, an 8 in other pants, 8s in tops, dresses and jackets, small in tops and medium in dresses and jackets. I’ll let you know if things run true to size or if I sized up or down.

These, of course, are all pieces I actually own and wear, not just things I’ve bought to feature on the blog and then returned. So if I own them, you can bet I love them and feel comfortable in them. Comfort is crucial to this gal!

How I Dressed for My Day…for church on Sunday

Sundays are pretty casual at my church. We meet in an old school cafeteria and have to do a good bit of set up and tear down, so I often wear jeans. But not always. Since last Sunday was also St. Patrick’s Day, I enjoyed wearing this green boyfriend sweater with my navy and white striped tee and favorite jeans.

How I Really Dressed for My Day
green boyfriend cardigan (on sale + additional 40% off through this afternoon) // navy & ivory stripe 3/4 length sleeve tee (also in coral & ivory and sage green & ivory) // jeans in paradox blue – currently 15% off  // silk scarf (on sale + extra 40% off through afternoon) // navy bucket bag (similar – on sale + additional 25% off with code SPRING) // navy penny keeper loafers // gold bangle (also in silver)

This is definitely one of my favorite outfits, and I’ve worn it several times recently. Everything is comfy, easy to wear and beautiful. Everything runs true to size. And so much of this is on sale right now. Sooo much good stuff here!

How I Dressed for My Day…for dinner with friends.

Like I said, we’ve had spring weather all week. It’s cool in the mornings, but has warmed up into the 60s or even 70s by early afternoon. Then it turns cool again in the evenings. Remember, I live in the high desert, so the evenings are generally cool.

geo print button up shirt (25% off) // white chinos // navy penny keeper mocassins (25% off) // earrings // bracelet (similar) // necklace (similar) // ring

Monday I worked a lot in my office and then headed out to dinner with gals from my church. So these white chinos and crisp no-iron geo print button up shirt served me well all around. I find I work better and smarter when I get dressed, but admittedly it doesn’t always happen! Everything here is comfy and true to size. I’m wearing a small in the shirt, which is the lower of the two sizes I sometimes wear. The shirt and loafers are 25% off right now.

How I Really Dressed for My Day
white t-shirt // blush pink linen blazer // jeans // gold flats (no longer available) (alternate in powder beige or alternate in gold) // layering necklaces // gold bangle // handbag (no longer available)

I recently purchased this pretty blush pink blazer (size 8) at Target. It’s such a find! The linen blazer fits comfortably, has a tailored fit and is a beautiful, trending color of pink. High five! I love pairing a pretty blazer with a basic white tee and jeans for a modern classic look. I added my gold flats (no longer available) for fun, wore my gold layering necklaces and bangle, and carried this pretty blush pink handbag by Kate Spade, which appears to be sold out.

By the way, I’m singing this white t-shirt’s praises these days. I’ve decided it’s my fave. It feels and wears like a true t-shirt, but it has a bit more heft than others I’ve worn, so it keeps it’s shape as you wear it and isn’t too thin.

How I Dressed for My Day…working at home and running errands.

Y’all, I could live in chinos. So I think I have four pairs of these at this point, accumulated over the years. These “rocky beach” colored ones are from last year, but they’re still available. And they work perfectly with this red and white stripe top (seen last Saturday on my Blog Birthday post) and my denim jacket.

Red & White slub cotton tee // rocky beach girlfriend chinos // denim jacket // Superga sneakers // belt??? // adjustable gold necklace (also in silver and rose gold) // bucket bag (similar) on sale + 25% off with code SPRING // gold hoop earrings

I’d like to point out that every single piece in this outfit is a classic and a wardrobe essential. The key to keeping it modern is simply the way I’m wearing it – chinos cuffed, shirt front tucked and topping it all off with a relaxed denim jacket. That’s the beauty of a well stocked classic closet, gals. You never run out of clothes to wear!

How I Dressed for My Day…for coffee with one friend then lunch with another.

Thursday was my social butterfly day. *Grin* I’m such a homebody really, so when I get out of the house twice in one day it’s a big deal! In fact, it was such a big deal that I didn’t have time to dry my hair. Ha! But I’m so glad it didn’t take me long at all to throw together this camo and pink outfit.

How I Really Dressed for My Day
camo cargo pants (also in petite & tall) // pink long sleeve v-neck tee (available in LOTS of colors) // denim jacket // layering necklaces + palm adjustable necklace // small rose studded leather camera bag in soft pink (marked down + another 25% off with code SPRING) // sneakers

I’m wearing the tall in the camo cargo pants. I bought these last fall, but they’ve completely restocked them evidently. Gals, camo hasn’t gone away. So keep yours in your closet as we transition into spring and summer. And if you haven’t bought any, but are interested, these pants are wonderfully stretchy and comfy, but have great lines. They’ll look stylish this spring and summer with this pale pink or just white. So versatile!

I’m wearing this long sleeve tee above, but you could create this look with a short sleeve tee if you’d prefer. And I’m loving my new Michael Kors soft pink camera bag. Isn’t it darling?! I easily carried my phone, keys, reading glasses, sunglasses, lipstick and small zip pouch in it. And remember, I got it in their spring sale. It’s already reduced 50%, but you take another 25% off with code SPRING. And that’s how it is site wide!! Well, not everything is marked down already. But everything is 25% off the listed price. Be sure to register for the KorsVIP program so you get free shipping and return shipping.

How I Dressed for My Day…working from home and out to casual dinner.

Most of the day Friday I was home dealing with a very sad and unpleasant situation. We had to put one of our two doggies to sleep yesterday. James nor I have ever had to do that before. Fortunately we found a vet who would work our sweet Tommy in yesterday so he could be put out of his misery. He had just gone down hill really quickly in the last 48-72 hours after battling blindness, deafness and some dementia for the past year. James went with Tommy for his final moments and took care of his burial at the home of some dear friends while I stayed home with Tommy’s brother Benji. It was a tough day…for all of us…and for my sweet daughter Abby, who loves our doggies so much.

When we went to dinner later in the evening I just slipped on, you guessed it, my denim jacket.

Blessed for My Day

Our family is grieving the loss of our sweet pet, Tommy, today. He was in our home almost 15 years. I don’t really remember what life was like before we had him. And his brother Benji is grieving, too, making us all the sadder.

It does me great good to know that God offers us strength when we grieve, regardless of what we are hurt over. Today if you are grieving a loss or a transition, a hope deferred or a dear friend gone, know that God cares. He notices our grief and tends to us mercifully. The safest place to grieve is in His presence. There He can heal our wounded hearts and in time bring joy.

I am weary from grief; strengthen me through Your word. ~ Psalm 119:28

xoxo, Kay

  1. Lots of cute outfits (some I’ve already “copied”). ? Are the navy loafers comfortable enough to wear all day?

So sorry to hear about your dog. We had to do the same thing last month with our 13 year old Pomeranian. And actually had scheduled an appointment about 6 months before that but we just couldn’t bear the thought and cancelled that one. But it became more and more obvious it was time. I couldn’t go – it was just too hard. So my daughter and husband went. I miss my sweetie terribly. Our other two dogs are slowly adjusting but we could tell they didn’t understand where he went. Isn’t it funny how just a pet becomes so much part of your family? ❤️

    1. Thanks Gina, for your kind words. Yes, it’s a true loss. He was very much part of the family. I’m surprised that his brother slept all night and never barked or whined. (He sleeps in the kitchen in his own bed.) I kinda look for Tommy every time I see Benji. 🙁

The loafers are very comfortable, but Ill admit I haven’t tried wearing them all day. It seems like I’ve worn them all day, but since I work at home, I may have slipped them on and off. They’re very, very soft and flexible, so definitely worth the try. And they come in such nice colors.

  2. It’s so hard to give up a pet who is truly part of the family. I’m so sorry. I once read that Billy Graham said that if seeing your pet again makes Heaven perfect for you then that pet will be there. I believe that! May your memories of Tommy bring you smiles. I am new to your blog and am enjoying it!

    1. Thanks so much, Liz! Yes, that’s what we’re focusing on right now. The memories. He definitely brought joy to our family. And we believe he is healthy and fine now. I’m not sure where or what that means. God only knows. But we are satisfied that he is no longer blind, deaf or scared…or hurting. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the blog!

  3. I’m sorry for your loss. Our pets are precious family members and it stings hard when we lose them. I pray God fills your family’s hearts with an extra huge heap of His love and kindness this weekend.

  4. I’m so sorry about Tommy, Kay. It’s such a hard time about having pets, yet they bring us so much joy. I have a feeling we will be going through the same thing with our Monkey soon.
    Sending huge hugs and love,

  5. I love my camo pants and am thrilled that they can be worn year round. Kay, my heart is breaking for y’all. Last April our 10yr old Standard Parti Poodle unexpectedly had to be put down due to a twisted stomach. We had rescued him at 13mths & I felt like my heart had been ripped out. Now, we are preparing to say goodbye to our 13yr old Labradoodle that we got when he was 8 weeks old. Overall, his personality had blossomed over the past year since he has once again been the only dog in the house, and even though he is old, we’ve shared some special times, and I’ve taken so many pictures of him. Yesterday Larry & I had a serious talk about Java and we are on the same page of what is inevitable. I had a good cry in the shower while talking to God yesterday. While I turned it over to Him my heart is still breaking. We have a lot of dog items that we will donate to the vet, to help dog owners that need it, so we will have an opportunity to help others during our time of heartache. You know that God’s timing is always perfect, even though we don’t see it that way. Today’s devotional readings in my Daily Guideposts and Our Daily Bread Devotional Collections books were both about grief, and they reminded me that He understands, He will once again help me get through the tough days, and He will help me focus on all of the good memories. God knew I needed those devotionals today! Peace be with you!

  6. Kay, I’m so sorry to hear you lost your ‘best friend’. It’s never easy and we’ve been through that with our Lasa. She was just a few days shy of being 14 yrs old. We still miss her terribly and it’s been 19 yrs ago now!!! She was family! I love your style so much and I just ordered the pink blazer and white tee shirt!! I hope my husband doesn’t kill me! Ha! I’ve been ordering a LOT of stuff lately. You’re such a blessing to read every day and know that you have many ‘friends’ out there that love you too! Prayers and blessings during this difficult time for you.

  7. Very sorry to hear about the loss of Tommie.
Thank you for giving him a loving home.
Maybe Benji needs some special activity, maybe he will photo bomb some of your pix?
    That could be fun!

  8. I am so sorry to hear about Tommy?. We have had a few dogs and a cat that we had to make that terrible decision about. It broke my heart every time. Tommy had a good long life with your family, you should take comfort in that. XOXO Deb

  9. Kay, I’m sorry you lost your sweet pup…I know just how special they become to us…we’ve had our Sheltie for 10 years & he’s been such a loyal pup. I think the camouflage pants are so cute on you! Thanks for sharing your week and uplifting devotionals.
    Anita

    1. Hi Anita. Thank you for your kind words. We are doing pretty well but we definitely notice Tommy’s absence. I hope you have a blessed and joyful day. ?

  10. Adorable outfits! Praying for you and your family with the loss of Tommy. Having endured this a couple of times now, I know the heartache.
