Happy Friday! And welcome to Dressed for My Day. At the end of each week I like to share how I really dressed for my days. While I love pulling together outfits with newer pieces to share with my readers and YouTube subscribers in dedicated fashion posts, these are the outfits I’ve pulled together from my closet. So you can know that everything I share here is wearable and worthy of real-life. Ha! Truly, these are the styles and pieces I’m loving.

Sizing Information
Just for reference, I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 155. I generally wear a size 8 or medium in dresses, tops, jackets and pants (or 29 or 30 in jeans), so that’s what I’m wearing in these looks unless I tell you otherwise. That way you can assume everything I show you is true to size unless I alert you to sizing up or down. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and, again, I’ll just let you know if I sized up or down in a shoe, otherwise it’s true to size.
How I Really Dressed Last Friday
Last Friday I worn my fun new denim shorts from Loft. This weekend at Loft you can get 3 styles for 50% off, 2 for 40% off and 1 for 30% off. I love how soft and comfortable these denim shorts are. Plus I appreciate the wider leg opening and high waist. And I think the distressing is just right on these.
I wore the denim shorts with my Star Tie-Dye V-Neck Tee and my Adidas Comfort Slide Sandals. I was just around the house most of the day. But I think I did wear this out that evening to get something to eat??? We went somewhere… Hmm. That was a week ago!
How I Dressed Saturday
Saturday I had to work because I had a sponsored post and video I had to get done ahead of time. So I wanted to feel comfortable but polished for my work day. I opted for my Eileen Fisher cotton separates. These crop lantern pants are practically sold out at Eileen Fisher, but they’re still available in most sizes at Nordstrom. They are amazingly soft and comfortable, but I love the silhouette.
I wore them with my slim fit scoop neck tank, also available at Nordstrom and in several colors. You do need to wear a racerback bra with this slim fit scoop neck tank. I’d ordered this one from Spanx, but it got lost in the mail, so I’ve ordered another one. I hear great things about it and I’m so bummed my other one got lost (from Nordstrom, not Spanx). But hopefully this one will arrive this week.
Saturday night we were invited to some friends’ home for a fish fry. I knew it would be a casual affair, but I wanted to dress up a little since my opportunities are so rare. I chose to wear my white wide leg linen pants (32% off) and heart spangled banner tee (also available in girls’ sizes) (40% off). The linen pants come in other colors, too, and they are very comfortable.
Unfortunately my cute flip flops are from last year at Vera Bradley, but they didn’t do a July 4th collection this year. I guess things are still just very different this year. Retailers have had a hard time, y’all. We really have to continue to be patient with things like inventory and shipping.
What I Wore to Church Sunday
Sunday morning I went to our more traditional service. I always use those opportunities to dress up a little more, whereas I generally go more casual to our contemporary service. I’ve really enjoyed this lightweight poplin Dolman sleeve shirt dress this spring and summer.
I wore my dress with my ivory braided sandals and carried my ivory Coach handbag. This darling handbag is marked down almost 50% now. I’ve really enjoyed it and it comes with two additional straps.
What I Wore Monday
Monday I wanted to wear my new sea salt t-shirt (just $10 + 25% off today only) I’d picked up at last week’s Old Navy try-on session. I decided to keep the look light and earthy, so I wore the t-shirt with my canyon colored Cropped cargo chinos. By the way, Talbots, where I got the Cropped cargo chinos, is giving you 40% off your entire purchase this weekend.
I added my gold sandals (which are no longer available evidently)and some pretty jewelry in the colors of the tee. The stretch bracelets were from Chico’s, but they’re no longer available either. I’ve noticed that inventory seems to be lower on many items this summer. I think retailers have cut back their orders. Talbots still has several sizes in these other gold sandals, but if you’re looking for some I suggest you snag them. They’ll be gone by the end of this weekend.
How I Dressed for Tuesday
I’d been looking for an opportunity to wear my new modern ankle jeans in seaglass. I love the navy and white stripes down the sides of these jeans. Done wrong, these stripes can actually add visual weight. But I think Talbots got these right. On the website, the stripes initially look red. But click to view closeup and you’ll see they are navy and white. These modern ankle jeans are extremely comfortable and seem a little lighter weight than others, like a true summer denim.
I just kept the look very classic with a pink button back detail t-shirt and nude colored sandals (more economical option). Unfortunately the button back detail t-shirt is sold out in my watermelon pink (except in plus sizes), but you can get a similar colored shirt in this style, which I also love. That t-shirt, however, does run large, so size down.
What I Wore Wednesday
Wednesday I met up with a few friends from church for a brown bag lunch. It was so good just to sit and visit with these sweet ladies for a while. I wore my Outerknown S.E.A. Suit and sandals (more economical option).
I don’t have a shopping widget for this look because most of it is not available from retailers involved with those affiliate programs. But you can shop the Outerknown S.E.A. Suit and my sandals through those links. And here are some more economical sandals that look similar. Finally, you can check out my watch at Nordgreen and use code KAYHRMS for 15% off or code KAYHRMSF for free extra strap. The rest of my jewelry is no longer available.
I love how this look came together. You can certainly wear utility jumpsuits and rompers with sneakers, as I did in this recent post. But I think sandals work really nicely, too.
What I Wore Thursday
Thursday I had a lot of work to do (and obviously didn’t get it all done because I’m typing this up on Friday morning!), but I also wanted to meet up with a friend for lunch (thus I didn’t get my work done!). And that night I had my first ever Instagram Live with Nordgreen. So I wanted to look and feel polished, but also be comfortable and cool.
I’ve had these Seersucker Slim Pants and Easy Seersucker Blazer in my closet for a few weeks, but hadn’t had the opportunity to wear them. So I thought yesterday was the perfect day to pull them out and put them on. I enjoyed wearing this lightweight, recycled polyester duo so much. This is office casual at its best. The Seersucker Slim Pants feature an elasticized waist band with drawstring tie and the Easy Seersucker Blazer is unlined but quite polished for a lightweight feel and easy movement.
Because it was raining up a storm, I opted to wear my black patent leather Paul Green Loafers (40% off original price) to lunch. And I carried my black backpack (more economical option) to keep the look super modern and coordinated. But that night I changed into my Grayson slingback flats (40% off) for the Instagram Live. I took the photo below before I actually also changed out my jewelry. I decided these earrings from Rachelyn looked better with the white shoes. They’re so modern but also exquisitely feminine.
I had such fun doing the Instagram Live. It’s saved in IGTV, so you can still watch it. We talked more about how to elevate your summer style. If you ladies liked that, I’ll try to do more. And if you’re not yet following me on Instagram be sure to do that. And if you’d like for me to follow you back, just DM and I will.
Thanks so much for stopping in for a little style inspiration. I really enjoyed wearing all of these outfits this past week. They were all comfortable, cool and…I think…chic. So fun!

Blessed for My Day
Sometimes I think that I must steer other people’s lives for them. Ha! Have you ever tried to change the course of someone else’s life? Not only is it not easy; it’s impossible! We can’t change other people…for our own purposes or for their own good.
But the good news is that God can change people and the path they are on. And when He brings about a change it is always good, for their true good and good once and for all. Only God can bring about real and lasting change in another person’s life, dear friend. So let’s take hands off and get down on our knees instead. We absolutely can pray for God to work in the lives of those we love. But then we must leave the means and the ways up to Him.
And all who heard him were amazed and said, “Is not this the man who made havoc in Jerusalem of those who called upon this name? And has he not come here for this purpose, to bring them bound before the chief priests?” But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving that Jesus was the Christ. ~ Acts 9:21-22
I really needed this devotion today! This one hit home. Thank you and God Bless you!
This is my daily wear. Drawstring pants and jeans with simple tops. I usually wear jeans when I go out because drawstring or even elastic waist are more comfortable at home. All of these appeal to me. Is canyon color more camel or tan? My iPad doesn’t always get colors right. I hate returning,
The canyon is a dark camel.
Good morning Kay! I sure do like the outfits that you wore over the past week. There are a lot of good sales going on now. I agree that the retailers are still having a tough time, so they do need our business and patience. The Belk store that I go to seems to be very short staffed, so I’ve had to hunt for a customer service desk where I can get assistance. The BFMD has my name written all over it. Fortunately, I’ve recognized that personality trait and am making a conscious effort to truly turn things over to God. As the saying goes, Let Go, Let God! Have a great day!
I love all your looks, Kay, and I’ll check out your IG video today. Thank you for all your hard work on the blog and your IG weekly videos. It is much appreciated. As I’ve said before, your blog is the most comprehensive one I follow and I follow quite a few. Happy 4th!
Thank you Kay, I always enjoy reading about your week as well as seeing your super outfits.
Oh Kay I loved all the outfits, you looked smashing! My spirit especially needed to read your devotion and the scripture today 😌 I always have to remind myself of that, being the mother of 4 daughter’s 😏
Are you referring to the Outerknown jumpsuit, I guess? I did find that it gives just a little with wear. I’ve worn it three times now and it certainly hasn’t stretched out to where it’s baggy. But it did give a little in the rear. I wore mine around the house for an hour or two before removing the tags. I personally think that is a perfectly appropriate thing to do.
Yes, that is the one! I love it and think I will give it another go!
I truly needed this BFMD today
I am going through some personal things right now and don’t know where to turn sometimes. I keep praying for this person. Liked your Post today. Forgot about you being on Instagram last night. Will have to try to watch it. Have a great day.
Kay, I really enjoyed your instagram live last night. You were a natural at it and looked so pretty in that outfit.
I also watched your first beauty video and it was awesome too. You are getting so good at this stuff, I expect to see you on your own TV show one day!
I really wanted to see the list of some of the products you used on your makeup video, but couldn’t find them after. Would you mind sending them to my Instagram @ 60sassyandstylish if you get a chance. Thank you!
Kay, we are on vacation and I’m a little behind on my emails. The hot pink color looks great on you. Also, your hair looks fabulous in the flag t-shirt. Can you do a hair video of the curly style and the straighter style you wear your hair? I really needed your BFMD as I am praying over several family members about some choices they are making and their salvation. My husband always say “ You can lead a horse to water, but can’t make him drink”. I will not give up on praying for them.
~Lisa~
Great content. Watched your Instagram live (recorded), so fun!
Wow! Who knew that a gray suit in summer with a tie waist pant could be so chic! Wow!
