No, don’t worry. It isn’t Friday…yet. I’m just posting my daily outfits for the past week today because tomorrow I have a sponsored post (and I really hope you’ll check back in for it!). So today I’ve rounded up my mirror selfies and sharing how I really dressed for my days recently. I hope you enjoy the summer outfit inspiration.

How I Really Dressed for My Day Recently

Sizing Information

Just for reference, I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 155. I generally wear a size 8 or medium in dresses, tops, jackets and pants (or 29 or 30 in jeans), so that’s what I’m wearing in these looks unless I tell you otherwise. That way you can assume everything I show you is true to size unless I alert you to sizing up or down. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and, again, I’ll just let you know if I sized up or down in a shoe, otherwise it’s true to size.

What I Wore Friday

Last week James and I resumed our 2nd Friday of the month Explore Ohio adventures. Most 2nd Fridays (or sometimes Saturdays) since we moved to Ohio in August of 2019, we’ve gotten out to check out a little more of Cincinnati, further into Ohio or the surrounding states. This past Friday we went to the quirkiest little gas station in Lynchburg, Terry’s Grocery and Pizza, for pizza and ice cream. Then we stopped by a fruit and vegetable market for some local produce. And we wrapped up the day by seeing the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company perform Romeo & Juliet in Eden Park.

Friday Dress

James plans these little outings and I like it that way. So I never know where we’re going until we get there. Imagine my surprise when we pulled up to a gas station in the middle of nowhere and he told me we’d arrived. Ha! Anyhow, he just told me to dress to be outside, but that we wouldn’t be hiking or anything. I chose to wear this pretty summer dress from L.L. Bean, and I was so glad I did. It felt pretty and “date appropriate,” but also casual and comfortable.

I kept my accessories simple, letting the dress do the heavy lifting in this feminine summer outfit. And I love the way these dainty necklaces by Rachelyn filled the neckline but didn’t detract from the simplicity of the outfit. (Use code KAYHARMS for 10% off your order at Rachelyn Jewelry.)

By the way, I took my Instagram followers along on my little adventure Friday. And I started saving our 2nd Friday Explore Ohio outings in my story reels. You’ll find it under the Explore Ohio tab on my account.

What I Wore Saturday

Saturday I just worked around the house, so I kept it simple. I wore denim shorts and a fun tee with my champagne colored Adidas comfort slides.

My boyfriend denim shorts are in the light wash and they’re 40% off with code LOVEIT. For that matter, the fun tee is also included in that 40% off deal. Both run true to size. I purchased these Adidas comfort slides really just for wearing around the house instead of slippers because they have great arch support and cushioned soles. But I think they’re fun, too.

What I Wore to Church Sunday

I love, love, love this soft and easy black shirtdress. And y’all!!! It has been restocked! I am so surprised and thrilled. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, this loose fit. But it’s dreamy soft and just so fun to wear. Lightweight and summery but still in a sophisticated black. It runs true to size; I have the 8. I love this dress. It will go fast!

Anyhow, I wore this black shirtdress to church Sunday. I feel like I don’t get to wear it as often as I’d like, so I took advantage of the fact that I was going to our more contemporary service to wear it. Just so fun!

Monday Outfit

Monday I just worked from home, but I also produced Tuesday’s post about 5 Ways to Wear Crop Cargo Chinos, so I ended up in this outfit from that post. I really do love these cropped cargo chinos. They’re still available, run true to size and come in other colors, including white. They’re marked down and you can take an extra 40% off, which shows up in checkout.

Monday Outfit
cargo crop pants // Henley tee // striped linen shirt (60% off!!!) // Nordgreen Infinity Watch with white leather band (use code KAYHRMS for 15% off your order) // demi charm necklace in gold pearl // gold sandals (another option) // similar earrings

But what really makes this outfit, I think, is the striped linen shirt (60% off!!!). I really have enjoyed this striped linen shirt even more than my white one this summer. I love the way this creates a column of color but the vertical stripes also elongate and slenderize.

How I Dressed Tuesday

Tuesday was another work from home day, so I wore a sweet and simple dress and fun flip flops. My flip flops are in the yellow citrus, but they also come in orange sunset, ivory and black. The two neutrals would be great choices, but I thought the gentle, subdued splash of color was a nice touch with this very simple striped shirttail tank dress.

The shirttail tank dress also comes in two neutrals, grey heather and black. But I love the simple navy stripe. I think it has a subtle nautical feel, so it would also make a perfect swimsuit coverup or dress to wear at the lake or beach. It runs true to size and I do wear this racerback bra with it. True story: I bought this dress because I wanted more things to wear with this amazingly comfortable bra. Ha! That’s how much I love it. By the way, I got my usual size in the racerback bra, but if you are larger and need the support, I would suggest going with your usual sizing in the cup and down a size in the band. It has no adjustments in the straps.

Real quick, back to the flip flops. They are extremely comfortable. So fun and soft on the feet. Just thought you needed to know!

What I Wore Wednesday

Wednesday I got up at 2:50 a.m. to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale at 3. Ugh. By the way, if you’re a Nordstrom cardholder and you’re Influencer status, you can do the same tomorrow morning. Ha! Seriously, things are selling out, so I do recommend rising early for the sale if you have specific things you’re hoping to land.

Anyhoo! I wanted to be comfortable and cool, so I wore my Eileen Fisher separates. I know these duds are pricey, but I’m definitely getting a good cost per wear out of them. Especially this cotton and linen blend sweater. It is so versatile. And it’s available in a darker black/white blend, too.

I snapped these photos in the fitting room of course. I kind of intended to do a dressing room post for this weekend, but I’m not sure if I will or not. I haven’t looked at the photos, but I was underwhelmed with what I was able to try on in the store. I definitely have better items coming. And I did get expedited shipping and expect things to arrive today. So maybe I’ll post those things on Monday. We’ll seel.

What I’m Wearing Today!

Finally, here’s what I’m wearing today. By the way, if you’re wondering why today’s post is coming out so late (’cause I know you wait with baited breath for my posts!!! Ha!), I’ve had some elbow issues going on and I just couldn’t sit at the computer yesterday to type it up. I’m trying to get up and move more today, plus I’m taking ibuprofen round the clock and icing them off and on, too. I really think it’s a workplace “injury,” so I’m hoping to get ahead of it this weekend by really laying off the computer and phone.

Enough of that. Let me show you what I’m wearing so that hopefully I still have time to meet up with my friends for our weekly lunch today. I’m wearing my black linen lantern pants, this cute zebra tee (that’s sold out unfortunately) and my ruana that is also sold out.

Tuesday Outfit (1)

I actually changed shoes after I snapped this photo. I’d forgotten that I had gotten in these black sport sandals from Everlane. I love these. They’re soft, comfortable and I think very flattering to my feet…for sports sandals. I got them in the black and they run true to size. Very versatile. I’ll be styling them some in an upcoming video or post.

Well, that’s it for the week. Check back with tomorrow for a fun post about summer hospitality. Now I’m going to try to get out the door to have lunch with some friends. I hope you have a lovely summer day!

Blessed for My Day

A little bit of success is oh so sweet. But that same morsel of success can quickly become poisonous if we allow it to turn into pride. With every bit of success I enjoy here at Dressed for My Day, I try to consistently remind myself that God builds this platform and this community, not me. I’m just the steward to whom He has entrusted this business.

As long as I remember that, I’m more prone to serve my readers and viewers well. And when I serve, I’m more like Christ. And when I work and do the tasks I have to do here with a servant’s heart rather than like someone who’s “all that,” then God is honored and He blesses even more. That’s how this principle works in my life. How does it work in your life? This is worthy of meditation today.

But when he became strong, his heart was so proud that he acted corruptly, and he was unfaithful to the Lord his God, for he entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.  ~ 2 Chronicles 26:16

  1. I thought those cargo crop chinos you showed the other day would be a good addition to my wardrobe, so I clicked through the link to check them out. But since I’ve never been 5 feet tall, I knew they wouldn’t be “crop” on me and the leg might be too wide. So I decided to run down to Talbots in the nearest mall to try them on. Hmmm, the 6P I usually wear was a bit too roomy. But they didn’t have a size smaller in that pant. They did have a 4P Patch Pocket Crop in the same camel color, and it fit quite nicely, thank you very much! And the sale price was great, too!

    1. I really like the outfits that you’ve really worn. I checked out the Adidas sandals and am so disappointed that they are only available in a medium width because I have a very narrow foot. The picture of you with the Cincinnati skyline behind you is picture perfect. I actually like the black shirt dress on you! I hope that your elbows will start feeling better. What a great BFMD!

  2. I agree with your assessment of the Bra-llelujeh! I was on the testing crew when Spanx first came out with it. It is the most comfortable bra ever! Thanks for the great post, it’s always so nice to see how you style different outfits for everyday wear. Have a great weekend!

  3. Thank you for another good post! As a former Buckeye, I highly recommend that you explore the hiking trails in Hocking Hills. All 7 trails are great, but the Conkle’s Hollow is my favorite! I think Hocking Hills is about 2 hours from Cincinnati, but worth the trip for the beauty, especially in the fall.

    1. Hi Lea Ann. We’ve heard great things about Hocking Hills. I hope to get there either this fall or next spring. Thanks so much for sharing.

    1. Hahaha! Thanks. I need a haircut something terrible! I use a Dyson hairdryer, whether I’m drying with a round brush or using the diffuser. https://shopstyle.it/l/bwlGj crazy expensive and I’m not sure it’s worth it. But I don’t really use any styling products to share with you. I do put a drop or two of this oil on it after drying and flat ironing. https://shopstyle.it/l/bwlEG And if do flat iron it when I wear it straight.
