Happy weekend and welcome to Dressed for My Day! Today I’m restarting a weekly series that put aside for the last month or so. I’ll be sharing my real life outfits of the day for the past week. But I’m going to start posting these on Saturday now. So if you want to see how I really dressed for my day, be sure to tune in each Saturday.

Sizing Information
Just for reference, I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 155. I generally wear a size 8 or medium in dresses, tops, jackets and pants (or 29 or 30 in jeans), so that’s what I’m wearing in these looks unless I tell you otherwise. That way you can assume everything I show you is true to size unless I alert you to sizing up or down. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and, again, I’ll just let you know if I sized up or down in a shoe, otherwise it’s true to size.
Let’s get started! Today I’m starting with this past Sunday.
How I Really Dressed for Church Sunday
Because I’ve enjoyed the black Everlane Parklet Dress so much this summer, when I saw they’d restocked this blue houndstooth Parklet Dress and lowered the price temporarily I decided to snag it, too. Both fit and feel identical. It’s an intentionally oversized dressed with a body skimming fit. I went with my true size 8 for a really nice fit.
Because I’m styling for fall here at the blog this month (even though it’s still warm outside!) I opted for my caramel leather kitten heels (use code KAYHEELS for $40 off your first pair of heels). I kept my jewelry simple with a thick serpentine Venice necklace, gold bangle and split hoop earrings. I didn’t show it here, but I carried my varicolored Coach satchel. It worked nicely with the caramel leather kitten heels. I thought this made a nice transitional outfit.
What I Wore Monday
Monday I got out to run a few errands and then spent rest of the day working from home. I wore my Frame straight raw edge jeans with my green medallion popover and raglan sleeve girlfriend cardigan.
I pulled the look together and gave it a nod to autumn with my Paul Green nougat leather mules and coordinating brown reversible belt. Again I wore my gold split hoop earrings and gold Venice necklace. My gold stretch bracelet with the heart seems to be sold out.
How I Really Dressed Tuesday
On Tuesdays I generally edit Wednesday’s YouTube video, so I dress comfortably and so that I can get out for walks throughout the day. Otherwise I end up sitting at my desk far too long. So on this day I wore my black Nic+Zoe tech stretch ankle pants. You can find a fuller range of sizes in these fun pants HERE and you can save $20 on your purchase. Just search for Tech Stretch Relaxed Pant in the search engine. I think you’ll also get 20% off pants right now.
The Nic+Zoe tech stretch ankle pants are lightweight and have a straight leg silhouette that skims the body. They feature an elasticized waist band with a flat front. I like them because they’re perfect for walks around the neighborhood, but they’re polished enough to wear out and about, too. I paired them with my Madewell Let’s Go Outside tee. I finished the easy look with my Everlane Renew Sport Sandals.
What I Wore Wednesday
I’m the kind of person who likes to wear something the minute I get it in. Hahaha! So when this blue cotton-merino sweater vest arrived Tuesday afternoon it was all I could not to put it on. Alas I saved it for Wednesday.
James and I met some friends from church for an outdoor lunch and it was overcast and rainy, so I felt comfortable in this sweater vest over a lightweight 100% cotton scoop neck tee. I wore my black Dream Pants and black ReNew Sports sandals. Hahaha! I don’t think I did this on purpose, but all of this is from Everlane.
How I Really Dressed Friday
Friday I thought I was going to get out during the day, but my plans were changed midway through the day. I ended up working from all day. Then a couple of friends from church came over for pizza in the evening.
Since I’d gotten out my black slim ankle jeans when I was putting together yesterday’s blog post, My Fall Blue Jeans Lookbook, I decided to wear them. I topped the ankle jeans with a new slightly cropped henley tee I’d received from Evereve earlier in the week. You can use code SEPTEMBER for 15% off your purchase at Evereve.
So yeah, when I snapped the above photos I was actually heading out the door with my reversible tote. But I ended up going nowhere. Ha! But I did indeed wear my Paul Green Debbie wedge sneakers all day. They’re so comfortable I never thought to take them off and switch into my usual house slippers. I completed the outfit with my Parker Link Collar Necklace and Compass Coin Pendant Necklace.
Well, that’s a wrap! Thanks so much for stopping in today. I think our temperatures are supposed to drop some next week. So maybe I’ll be able to wear some fall-ish clothes even more comfortably. In fact, fall officially begins next Wednesday! Have a great weekend!

Have you noticed that you tend to discover who your true friends are when adversity strikes. There is a friend who gathers around in the good times. But the thickest friendships show themselves to be pure and trustworthy when the winds of adversity blow.
Let’s show ourselves to be good and trustworthy friends. Let’s choose to give our friends grace, space when needed and lots of love and compassion when hard times come.
A friend loves at all times,
and a brother is born for adversity. ~ Proverbs 17:17
Hi Kay! I absolutely love the picture of you and James. I really like the green cardigan and multi colored top together; they make a very nice ensemble. It is cooling off a little down here as well, which means highs in the 80’s instead of the 90’s. Oh, I received the Let’s Go Outside tee from Everlane yesterday, tried it on this morning, and love it. I did go with my larger size and am glad that I did.
Great! I hope you enjoy it. It’s a little thin, as is my other one, but great for wearing under a jacket or cardigan.
I love your what I really wore posts! Thanks for bringing them back.
I agree!! I was really happy to see this post today!! Thank you Kay I enjoy your channel!
I love the sweater vest and how you styled it! You’re always so put together! Are there days you just can’t find motivation and stay in your jammies or mis-matched sweats?
Hahaha! Honestly I rarely if ever stay in my pjs all day. But I do put on joggers or loungewear occasionally. 😉
I so enjoy these posts and seeing how you’ve styled things. I haven’t worn belts in forever, but I’m thinking I would like to order the reversible one you featured. Can you please share with me 1) what size you ordered and 2) how to determine what size to order.
Hi Susan. I have a medium in that belt and it works well. Usually you can go with your pant size. But every once in a while I need a large if I want to get to the middle hole. Also definitely consider what you’ll be wearing it with and where that pant hits you – at the smallest part of your waist or more toward your hips?
Kay, The more ill I’ve become over the years the more I have found my true friends!! So very true!!
While I enjoy and learn from ALL your posts, I especially enjoy the how you dressed for your day ones. As a retiree, I am often at home or doing more casual activities (especially in these Covid times). I often have similar items in my wardrobe and can take inspiration from your daily outfits to ‘up my game’ just a little. Thanks for sharing!
Dear Kay:
I particularly enjoy your “How I really dressed for my day” posts. I get a lot of ideas from them and they are really fun to read. Regarding vests making a come back, wouldn’t you know it? Last Fall I finally tossed some really nice vests I had kept forever. This keeps happening! I finally decided to donate my straight leg jeans a year ago. Oops! I donated my longer, fuller skirts six months ago. I guess if we just had unlimited storage space, we could keep every item until the styles roll around again. Too funny!
You have so inspired me to update my style. I am still purchasing new items as our budget allows but more importantly I am utilizing what I do have and pairing things together differently. I look SO put together. My husband is constantly complimenting me.
Thank you so much. You are such a blessing to me.
Oh that is so wonderful, Eileen. Thank you for sharing that with me. I’m so very happy for you. Blessings!
