Hello, and welcome to Dressed for My Day. If you stopped in for a little style inspiration, you’ll get the real thing today. I’m sharing how I really dressed for my days recently.
I’m determined to get more organized and systematic with these daily outfit posts beginning in January of 2021. (Anybody else ready for 2021???) But for now I’m keeping it real and once again confessing that I don’t really remember when or where or why I wore most of these outfits. Still, this is how I really dressed for my days recently. But so I can work faster on this post, I’m not going to stress over the order of the outfits.
We’ve been having quite cool temperatures in Ohio for a few weeks now, so most of these are sweaters and jeans or cords. You’ll also see that I’ve pulled out my boots and started wearing them!
Sizing Information
Just for reference, I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 155. I generally wear a size 8 or medium in dresses, tops, jackets and pants (or 29), so that’s what I’m wearing in these looks unless I tell you otherwise. That way you can assume everything I show you is true to size unless I alert you to sizing up or down. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and, again, I’ll just let you know if I sized up in a shoe, otherwise it’s true to size.
Black Cords & Grey Cashmere V-Neck
Okay, so I actually do know that I wore this classic fall outfit yesterday. I had worn joggers the day before and knew I needed to put on “real pants” and a belt on this day or else… Hahaha!
As I’m writing this post these Linea Paolo wedge sneakers are 41% off. Y’all. These 2.5″ heels are so comfortable you’ll never know you’re wearing wedges. But they keep your looks so modern and casual. Readers who have ordered them are telling me they’re loving them.
My grey cashmere v-neck is from last year, but Talbots has a grey one along with many other great colors this year, too. And you’ll get up to 50% off with Talbots’ current More the Merrier sale event. I did size up to a 10 in these black cords, as I usually do in cords. I really might could have worn the 8 just fine, but at least these are really comfortable.
Black Cords & Ruana
Well maybe I lied. I do indeed remember where and when I wore the next outfit, too. I styled my black cords, a pink Audrey cashmere sweater (from a couple of years ago) and my pretty plaid reversible ruana for church Sunday.
I’m hoping my black Franco Sarto booties are still 40% off by the time you read these. This boots are extremely comfortable. And don’t let the squared off pointy toe scare you away. They really elevate a look without compromising comfort.
And don’t you love the way this multi strand convertible necklace works with this sweater and ruana? My sweater is from a previous year, but the pink flambe in this year’s lineup looks very similar.
Black Straight Jeans & White Lantern Sleeve Shirt
I shared a little about this outfit in my post last Thursday about wearing black without looking boring. This is what I wore the day we left for our little getaway. The weather had taken a turn towards the humid and warm.
I had just gotten in these black straight jeans in and tried them on. I didn’t want to take them off! I did have to size up to a 30 in these, but with the extra inch these jeans feel soft and oh so wearable. But I also think they look great even after wearing them for quite a while. You can see them again in the look I really wore as we drove home on Saturday.
Oh, and my silky cotton lantern top is 31% off and also available in other colors. I think this is a great year-round top.
Brown Cords & Leopard Print Hoodie & Vest
I’m pretty sure I wore this fun casual outfit one day when I just worked from home but then ran errands in the afternoon. My leopard print hoodie is from last year, but I’ve linked to similar ones in the ShopStyle Shop below.
My hoodie is also from a previous season, but I’m linking to the one Talbots is offering this year. It has a faux fur collar that I removed for this look. I’m loving these “twig” cords, but I did size up to a 10 in these, as I often do in cords.
More Brown & Black & Leopard, oh my!
Well I’m nothing if not repetitive! Ha! Yeah, I tend to eat the same things for lunch every day, too. So it’s not surprise that I just slipped these brown cords back on the next day. Or at least that’s the way the photos lined up in my phone.
But I do love how this more pared down look turned out. Really effortless, but elevated just a touch with the addition of my leopard print booties (from last year). Oh, and my soft cotton v-neck is marked down 29% temporarily. Size down one!
Golf Look
And I absolutely do know where I wore this next look. I get asked frequently what I wear when playing golf. This is the best cool weather golf outfit. The day was sunny but the temperatures stayed in the low 50s, maybe even 40s. And I was so comfortable and warm in these fleece lined pants from Talbots, but I never overheated at all.
I’m wearing the navy fleece lined pants I purchased last year, and this year they seem to only come in black, which I’m thinking about ordering. If you play golf (or other outdoor activity) in cool temperatures, you really should consider these pants. They fit true to size, keep their shape and launder well. (I didn’t put them in the dryer.)
I just topped the pants with a red long sleeve crew neck tee and this quilted vest, which allowed me to play without being hindered. Of course I switched into my golf shoes for the game, but I wore my Tory Burch leather sneakers before and after. I’ll link to other options below.
Sunday Afternoon
If you read this post you know how I love to slip into Soma WKND clothes after church on Sunday. Well, I’ve upgraded to a more cold weather friendly set. Here I’m wearing the Sunday wide leg pants in fig and the long sleeve slub tee (also available in other colors). I’m wearing a medium in both. The pants are pretty roomy and I might could have sized down, but hey, it’s Sunday afternoon on my sofa!
Don’t forget two other essentials. I also have on my Sunday afternoon bralette and my Acorn slippers in raspberry.
Church Dress & Boots
Next up I wore this pretty but basic dress from J.Jill to church a couple of weeks ago. I was serving brownies and coffee between the services that day, but I felt comfortable and light on me feet in this outfit.
This a line sweater dress is also available in dark fig. Wouldn’t that be lovely??? I’m wearing a small, as I often do in J.Jill tops and dresses. I’m also wearing tights from J.Jill, and I really like them. My boots are from last year, and they’re wide calf, ’cause ya know… Anyhow I can’t seem to find this exact color in wide calf, but I’m linking to several regular and wide calf options in the shopping widget below. I’m finding lots of Frye boots on sale right now, and they’re definitely worth the price. These are almost half price, but mine do have the interior zipper.
Also I have a pair of INC. boots from Macy’s and really like those, too. And they’re a much better price. Check out these in regular calf width and these for a wide calf, like moi!
Rainy Day Outfit for Grocery Shopping
I remember I wore this to the grocery store one day because it was raining. I had received these Jambu all weather shoes and wanted to give them a try. They feel great on and they’re water resistant.
Well that’s a wrap! Let me know if you have any questions. And thanks so much for stopping in today. Have a wonderful day, dear friend.

Blessed for My Day
Jesus did not condemn the woman caught in adultery. To condemn means to “sentence to a punishment.” Instead, He released her. The Pharisees dropped their rocks and walked away because they could not throw those stones with their guilty records. But Jesus allowed the woman to walk away, not because He could not throw a stone, but because that was not His purpose. Jesus came into the world to save the world, not to condemn it.
However, dear friend, there is coming a day when Jesus will return. At that time He will come not as a suffering savior, but a victorious King. While His grace has held back the river of God’s wrath for a season on the timeline of eternity, one day the dam will be unleashed and our just and holy God will indeed reckon out the due penalty for sin. At that time you nor I will hear the words, “Go and from now on do not sin any longer.” Instead, the only words that will lift our guilty heads and steady our thumping heart will be something like, “She’s with me. I paid for her sins.”
Yes, I’m grateful that I, too, will escape condemnation, not because Jesus is holding back the wrath of God but because He has already received the penalty due to me.
And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. Now when they heard this, they began leaving, one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman where she was, in the center of the courtyard. And straightening up, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on do not sin any longer.” ~ John 8:8-11
Thanks for posting your golf outfit. I play golf, too, and had thought about asking you to post some golf looks.
Hi Gayle. Thanks for letting me know. I posted one last summer but it’s been awhile and I think I’ve accumulated more readers who play since that time. So I’ll try to post more in the future, at least in the daily looks posts.
I enjoy seeing what you really wear! I have too many favorites for various reasons. I really like the format you used with the little shopping widgets next to smaller pictures of your outfits. It looks very nice and is easy to observe. Great BFMD!
Great! Thanks for letting me know that you like the ShopStyle Shops. I was a little concerned that they’d be confusing or just too much. But creating those helps me out in the long run. That way they’re always in my ShopStyle Shop and can be shopped in one central location (access through my top menu and sometimes in my daily emails) but also here on the posts. Have a great day, Ginger. 😊
So glad you mentioned the Inc. boots from Macys. I was in store a few days ago and they did not have my size. I tried them on anyway and they felt good and looked good. I need a wide calf also. Needless to say, I just added them to my cart. Also love the blue and gray striped sweater. Is it itchy? I would love your suggestions for men’s gifts for age 30 – 35. Women are easy to buy for but I struggle when deciding on gifts for my son. Have a great day.
Hi Peggy. I think you’ll enjoy those boots. That’s the same thing I did a couple of years ago when I purchased mine – tried them on in the store but they didn’t have my size so I ordered them when I got home. I’ve been very pleased with mine and I think they look a little more updated this year. I’ll definitely be doing a gift guide for young men. My 30-year-old son usually helps me curate one. So I’ve got you covered!
Yes! It’s so hard to shop for the men!
Hey Kay knocked it out of the ballpark again! I love that you have similar clothes that I own! But always could use your ideas to freshen my style. I do have a request. I would love some good solid guidance on undergarments. I seem to be in the dark when it comes to what brands and sizes are best for our age group. Not ready for granny panties! Lol
Hi Elaine. I’m so pleased that you enjoyed today’s post. Yes, undergarments are so important. I posted a Fall & Winter Undergarment Refresh on Monday. Check it out here: http://206.189.207.166/fall-winter-undergarment-essentials-refresh/ I really love Soma for undergarments. I especially love their Vanishing Edge Panties, which you’ll see in that post. Hope that helps!
Love, love, love the leopard and brown and black and brown.
You speak of Jesus return (even so come quickly Lord) and it reminds me of how The Chosen portrays the Jews as all looking forward to The Savior’s appearing. I wonder if we should feel the same fervent longing for His return.
Have you watched “The Chosen”? Its free on “The Chosen” app.
Huh. No I don’t think I have seen that. I’ll check into it.
